I’m Really Scared
Chapter 38: Night Demon

After Wang Yong climbed over the wall, the remaining boys followed him.

Wang Yong observed the courtyard, noticing that the osmanthus tree was planted in a specially made flower bed, with potted plants arranged around it.

Lush and full of life.

"Quite a bit of taste... but too bad they won't live long."

Wang Yong chuckled, "A Jing, Tian Bin, you two go check what that guy is doing."

The two boys nodded immediately and silently crept to the window, where they saw Guan Shan sitting in the living room, seemingly fiddling with something.

He's on the first floor, this is easy!

They exchanged glances, one staying to keep watch while the other went back to report to Wang Yong.

As usual, A Jing continued to watch Guan Shan's movements.

Tian Bin turned, excited to tell the boss they could move in, but his peripheral vision suddenly caught a light on in the neighboring villa.

He froze, impossible! They had checked before coming over, the lights were off in the neighboring house, and everyone was asleep. They decided to handle them one by one!

As Tian Bin was about to alert the others, a shadow appeared in the lit window.

The curtain cast a distorted figure.

But it was clearly a girl, with her hand on the window, motionless... as if she was watching them.

Was that the journalist's girlfriend?! She saw everything?!!

A chill ran down Tian Bin's spine.

Terrified, he stumbled to Wang Yong, pointing to the window, "Brother Wang, that girl definitely saw us! What do we do?!"

Wang Yong glanced over, frowning impatiently, "There's nothing there, are you seeing things?"

Tian Bin, confused, looked back where he had pointed, but only saw darkness. The villa was quiet, with no sign of lights.

No light, no shadow.

He muttered in disbelief, "How..."

The other boys laughed, "Tian Bin, are you scared of ghosts?"

"He's too nervous, seeing things."

"Last time he was like this too, we had to call him several times before he dared move. If you're scared, don't come!"

Tian Bin's face turned red with anger, but he was sure it wasn't a hallucination. The lingering fear made him speechless.

Wang Yong clicked his tongue, "Useless! Stay in the back, don't mess this up."

Tian Bin nodded quickly, "Yes, yes..."

Wang Yong asked about the journalist's situation. Tian Bin reported honestly, and the boys relaxed, joking as they walked to the door.

They were clearly experienced, with someone keeping watch and another picking the lock, working swiftly and skillfully.

Finally, a soft click, and the door unlocked.

As the door opened, Wang Yong's mind raced with excitement. He couldn't help but recall that night two months ago.

A strange person, whose appearance he couldn't remember, had demonstrated superhuman strength, offering them similar power if they did one thing.

Initially, they were anxious and fearful, but upon hearing the task, Wang Yong was first stunned, then thrilled.

Fang Minmin... that beautiful woman, known for her beauty around the area.

Despite being a top student from a prestigious university, she worked as a waitress at the restaurant, attracting many customers with her charm.

But Zhao Hong, a big intimidating man, deterred many admirers.

Wang Yong couldn't believe Zhao Hong's luck.

But now, that luck was theirs.

The person promised to handle the aftermath if they acted.

So, they brought knives and ropes, breaking into Zhao Hong's small restaurant.

They quietly went upstairs, silenced Fang Minmin, and dragged her to the floor, restraining her struggles, surrounding her with twisted smiles.

When Zhao Hong woke up, his glare was terrifying.

Wang Yong admitted he was momentarily scared, but then Zhao Hong was immobilized by an invisible force.

He lay there like a dead fish, helplessly watching them with bloodshot eyes.

The boys exchanged crazed smiles.

That night, they used every method on Fang Minmin, then left quietly.

The person kept his promise, giving Wang Yong a candy-like object, granting him extraordinary power.

After that, Zhao Hong and his wife went missing, later found dead, with no suspicion towards them.

The case seemed to be suppressed, with only minor journalists probing, easily scared off.

In time, it would all fade away.

"But the feeling of controlling life and will... I don't want to give that up. It's your fault for investigating."

Wang Yong's confident smile revealed sinister intent, his expression inhuman.

The door was flung open, and the boys rushed in like a pack of wolves.

What expression would the journalist have?

Surprise? Fear? Terror? Would he beg? Regret? Despair? The thought alone triggered a rush of dopamine, curling their lips in anticipation.

However, they could never have imagined the scene behind the door...

In the living room's light, a massive, pitch-black creature loomed.

It was a conglomerate of shadows, a manifestation of nightmares.

The creature, towering to the ceiling, absorbed all surrounding light, faceless but with two sharp horns and wings drooping from its back. Its slender, sharp body crouched, ready to strike.

Guan Shan, back to the creature, closed a strange box.

"Click."

The creature raised its claw, seemingly about to strike Guan Shan.

"Boom!"

The sound of the door opening and footsteps made the creature turn.

Wang Yong and the boys froze, smiles stiffening.

"Swish!"

The black creature unfurled its wings, face elongating, emitting an inaudible shriek.

"Help..."

The shadow surged, engulfing the boys, crushing bones and flesh, swallowing all screams of terror and despair.

---

The moment the box closed.

Guan Shan was almost scared out of his wits.

"This is bullshit! If sealed in darkness, it summons the [Night Demon]! A box fitting perfectly, who wouldn't try putting it in?!"

"Usually, things are summoned when unsealed! How is this reversed here?!"

Cursing inwardly, Guan Shan hurriedly reopened the box.

"Phew..."

He hadn't caught his breath when he heard a noise behind him, notably the door opening.

"Who's there?!"

Startled, Guan Shan spun around.

He saw the open door and a stunned boy standing there.

Apart from that, the place was empty.

Terrified, Tian Bin fell to his knees, kowtowing furiously, "Spare me, please, I was wrong, I won't do it again... It was us, don't kill me, please..."

Guan Shan: "?"
