Chapter 244: Chapter 190 The God Who Sleeps in the Seabed!_4
The lights inside the submarine flickered unstably amidst violent shaking, turning the once orderly control room into utter chaos.
Crew members jerked their heads up from their stations, their faces etched with disbelief and fear.
They had absolutely no idea what had happened.
It seemed...
they had been hit by two lasers?!
But this was the seabed! Where did high-energy lasers come from?
What kind of black technology was this?!!
And they were in a stealth submarine; it shouldn’t have been so easy to be targeted without any notice and then attacked in an instant, right?
A multitude of questions flashed through everyone’s minds.
But there was no time to wonder why, as everyone reacted differently, attempting some action.
Some clutched the control panel, trying to steady themselves; others looked around in panic, searching for any hope of escape or ways to deal with the emergency...
Commander Colonel Marcos’s eyes flashed with shock.
That humanoid creature seemed truly godlike.
The torpedoes were useless, and they, at such a distance, were instantly attacked and severely damaged.
After being stunned for what seemed like an eternity,
he quickly snapped out of his shock and said into the intercom with a hoarse yet firm voice, "All crew, attention, immediately execute emergency sealing procedures! Seal off the damaged compartments, prepare for emergency surfacing!"
With the order given, a series of tense yet orderly operations sounded throughout the submarine.
The crew, considered elite from the Philippines, regained some composure. With trembling hands, they gripped their tools, rapidly turned valves, and closed off certain hatchways, trying to isolate the continuously incoming water.
But the pressure and speed of the water were beyond imagination, the cold seawater meeting the scorching metal breached in four places.
Steam rose in clouds, blurring vision and the air was filled with the salty scent of the sea and the charred smell of burning metal.
Fear, like invisible tendrils, entwined around each person’s heart.
Despair flashed through the eyes of some younger crew members; they had never experienced such a life-or-death moment, and their exchanges were filled with helplessness.
"Oxygen supply down by thirty percent!"
"Communications systems damaged!"
"Several compartments are rapidly depressurizing!"
"The temperature in the power area is rising, suspected to have caught fire!"
Each urgent report landed like a sledgehammer on everyone’s heart.
Breathing became rapid, time seemed to stretch, and each second was filled with a struggle for life.
Within the sealed cabin, the crew members leaned on each other, facing this sudden disaster together, their hearts filled with fear of the unknown.
However, some damaged compartments were sealed off at a very fast speed, and the situation seemed to stabilize somewhat.
The submarine slowly adjusted its attitude and began the arduous process of surfacing.
As time ticked by, the air inside the submarine became thinner and thinner, breathing more and more difficult, each inhalation felt like extracting the last bit of oxygen from their lungs.
In the eyes of the crew, fear was gradually replaced by deep despair. They began to realize that this time they might indeed not escape fate’s cruel joke.
Colonel Marcos’s face was pale, sweat sliding down his cheeks, but he still clenched the intercom, using his last bit of strength to maintain order, even though his voice had become weak, "Stay calm, conserve oxygen... we... we still have a chance."
The sense of powerlessness in his words plunged the hearts of the crew into the abyss.
However, as the submarine ascended a certain distance,
two lasers abruptly pierced through the submarine again.
It shot into the left side of the compartment next to Colonel Marcos, streaked in front of him, melting the head of a crew member before him, and then immediately pierced out through the right side of the submarine.
At that moment, the water surged in once more.
Despair flitted across Colonel Marcos’s eyes.
The last shred of hope was shattered with the second piercing by the lasers.
"It seems..."
"we’ve truly encountered a god."
Colonel Marcos thought, his hands dropped the intercom powerlessly, and he closed his eyes, allowing the water to engulf him.
At this moment, the change in external water pressure and further damage to the internal structure
immediately caused a series of chain reactions, rendering the submarine’s damage beyond repair.
Accompanied by a deafening explosion,
and violent shaking,
the lights inside the submarine went out completely, plunging everything into absolute darkness.
The water raged in like a fierce beast, drowning all hopes of escape.
