Chapter 150: Chapter 128 Oops, Am I Outwitting the Air?
Jinjiang Art Center wasn’t too far away.
Chen Yun and Bai Shi took a taxi and arrived in about twenty minutes.
The venue had been nicely decorated for this art exhibition.
The entrance of the exhibition exuded a serene and elegant aura, with two tall sensor-operated glass doors that were crystal clear, faintly reflecting the mottled tree shadows and the silhouettes of passersby outside; sunlight danced on the transparent doors, sprinkling bits of light.
Intricate carvings adorned the door frame, and the copper carvings shimmered with a classical luster under the sunlight, inviting every passerby.
Of course,
these descriptions apply to the main entrance on the east side.
The red carpet and welcoming area were at the east door, which had nothing to do with the north entrance where Chen Yun and Bai Shi were currently.
Although the north entrance’s decoration couldn’t be deemed spartan, it still lacked something compared to the prepared red carpet and welcoming area of the east entrance.
Additionally, there was a ticket center here providing on-site ticket purchasing services, crammed with volunteers, in a recently constructed temporary service center.
Thus, this area attracted quite a few onlookers and people preparing to buy tickets.
"So, as an invited expert, I can take you through the east entrance."
Bai Shi looked at Chen Yun next to him, not knowing why he had chosen to enter through the north entrance.
"You make it sound as if you enjoy making a showy entrance through the east door."
Chen Yun retorted with a glance at Bai Shi.
He didn’t explain why he chose the north entrance but rather shifted the topic.
He knew Bai Shi definitely didn’t want to show off on the red carpet under a bunch of spotlights either.
"Hehe."
Bai Shi chuckled upon hearing this, then took out the invitation to have it checked by the staff at the entrance, and after that, he led Chen Yun inside.
By this time, there were already quite a few visitors looking around everywhere, all tacitly talking in low voices instead of discussing loudly.
The first floor of Jinjiang Art Center covered nearly 100,000 square meters, yet it was only occupied by twenty masterpieces from artists around the world.
Therefore, even though each master’s booth had more than one painting, the space still seemed quite spacious.
Each booth resembled a meticulously crafted little world, existing independently yet harmoniously, guiding visitors deeper into the sanctum of art.
The passages between booths were spacious and sufficient, allowing each spectator to have enough room to thoroughly appreciate each artwork without disturbance.
Soft lighting focused on each painting, whether it be delicate oil paintings or elegant watercolors, all radiating their unique charms amidst the interplay of light and shadow. The backgrounds of the booths generally used neutral tones, aiming to ensure that no external factors detracted from the artworks themselves, allowing colors and strokes to be the sole focus.
A soft, quiet background music played, which didn’t interfere with visitors’ thoughts while appreciating the paintings and subtly influenced the emotions of visitors, helping them immerse better in the atmosphere of the exhibition.
Bai Shi and Chen Yun hadn’t walked far
when they came across the first booth.
Several watercolor paintings were attached at various corners of the booth, all by an artist from The Sun Never Sets.
As for the artist, he had entered through the east door with many other invitees, then settled in a designated rest area to chat and relax.
Chen Yun’s Transparent World gave him a rough sense of these brightly colored watercolor paintings, and his eyes narrowed slightly.
He didn’t understand art.
But from his perspective, which could perceive more colors, he just felt that these paintings were too stiff and rigid, quite uninteresting.
However, Bai Shi, whose perception was not so sensitive but whose artistic understanding was not insignificant and who was notably sharp-tongued, whispered to Chen Yun, "How can such trash be exhibited?"
"This is simply a waste of paint! This watercolor looks like randomly discarded flyers on the street after a heavy rain, soaked by rainwater and haphazardly stuck together. The colors don’t convey watercolor’s inherent fluidity and transparency; instead, it’s like random scribbles of a child with no order at all. The composition is chaotic, the theme unclear, is this creation or an insolent assault on the viewer’s eyes? The so-called artistic expression seems just a poor cover-up for lack of skill and creativity. I would suggest the artist learn basic color harmony and composition logic before wasting any more canvas; otherwise, such work only fits ’how not to paint’ teaching examples..."
Bai Shi’s relentless string of critical remarks was still unfinished.
Just then, a uniformed staff member happened to pass by.
Almost reflexively, Bai Shi swiftly changed his tone and said, "This artist skillfully utilized the characteristics of watercolors, controlling the water content to leave a flow freedom yet precision on the paper..."
As the staff member walked away, Bai Shi’s insincere praise abruptly stopped.
Chen Yun couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
Okay, okay, a classic reenactment of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda scene, right.
Bai Shi might be sharp-tongued, but one didn’t have to worry about him being beaten up.
"To be honest, don’t laugh at me, but the standard at this booth is indeed low. Don’t tell me this is the average quality of the whole exhibition, or I’d want to leave right now. I’ve heard there are paintings here worth at least several hundred thousand dollars."
Bai Shi looked at Chen Yun laughing and couldn’t help but defend himself.
It wasn’t his fault for the rapid change of face.
It was indeed just that the level of the paintings at the entrance was far from commendable.
