Idol Revive: If I Don't Debut, I'll Disappear -
Chapter 78: Weekly Mission
Chapter 78: Weekly Mission
As Rayen walked out of the elevator, he glanced at the pop-up on his screen. Seeing the options, he paused, unable to choose immediately.
What he really wanted was to rank up another one of his shitty skills — his team skills. But he was stuck at D-, so he couldn’t.
Hesitating over which button to choose, his fingers hovered between the two. Actually, Rayen didn’t think he needed to urgently rank any of these skills right now.
In the end, Rayen didn’t choose, lowering his finger.
"Can I just take the mission later? I have to think about which I should prioritize."
He had a hunch. Since they had finally returned their phones, they’d probably resume filming the show soon. So, he didn’t want to get preoccupied with something non-urgent at the moment.
"Hmm, okay... But I advise you not to take too long. If your skills regress, you won’t be able to take the ranking mission until you level them up again."
"What? Regress?"
"Oh, yes. Please check your weekly missions, by the way," Mini Plotter reminded him.
’You should have said that earlier!’
With the skill ranking mission notice disappearing, Mini Plotter also vanished somewhere into the depths of Rayen’s phone. Reaching the dorms, he tapped his phone on the doorknob and entered.
In the living area, Adrian was sprawled on the couch and using his phone, still in the same posture as Rayen had left him.
Rayen tossed the bag of bread at him. "Go buy me one to repay me."
"What? It’s not free? How much?" Adrian tore the packaging and began munching on the expensive bread.
Reminded of the bread’s price, Rayen was tempted to snatch it back and eat it himself.
"It’s 10 MC," he said, tearing his gaze away from the croissant.
’I should have bought one for myself too.’
"Okay, no problem."
Unlike Rayen, Adrian had no qualms spending that bit.
Rayen flopped onto the couch beside the eating guy and opened his mission list. The mission for him to gain 1000 fans wasn’t grayed out as he expected, but only multiplied ten times.
[Mission: Gain 10,000 fans]
’Is this gonna be endless?’
Scrolling past the long list, his fingers were tired by the time he reached the weekly missions.
’Damn this system. The interface is just too shitty.’
Finally, he saw what missions were under the weeklies.
[Weekly Missions
1. Vocals (Rank S): Make a person cry with your singing. (Accomplished)
2. Dance (Rank C): Dance a choreography 100 times. (Accomplished)
3. Visual (Rank B): Get photographed 1,000 times with different expressions. (Accomplished)
4. Production (Rank C): Contribute ideas in your performance. (Accomplished)
5. Team (Rank D): Be friends with 1 new participant.
Mission failure will make the user’s skills regress. (33:26:33 time remaining)]
Seeing the list, Rayen understood why he hadn’t received a failure notice yet. If the missions didn’t change much from the previous week, he probably accomplished everything. Besides, his skills didn’t regress either.
With the way they had practiced over the past week, he had sung and danced countless times, successfully completing the dance mission. However, he hadn’t realized that he had actually made someone cry... That mission seemed a hard one, yet it was already crossed off.
As for being photographed 1,000 times, the memes of him circulating online alone would easily fulfill this mission, even if the required number were much higher.
For the production mission? He was the one who had come up with the concept idea for their first performance.
’So the production skills don’t only point to music production, huh?’
Satisfied, Rayen continued reading the list.
The only task left was making a new friend. Perhaps the first two weeks, Yeo Haru and the others in his group had counted as his new friends, allowing him to complete the mission back then.
But now... How should he do it?
’Well... It seems like the weekly reset was every Wednesday. I still have time.’
Exhaling in relief, Rayen called for Adrian. "Hey."
"What?" Adrian mumbled, still munching on his bread.
"Can I see your weekly missions?"
Adrian handed over his phone, too busy eating to care. He wasn’t using it anyway. Even just eating snacks, he would abide by his belief.
[Weekly Missions
1. Vocals (Rank B): Sing Do Re Mi in different pitches (Accomplished)
2. Dance (Rank B): Practice the 40 routines 10 times each. (Accomplished)
3. Visual (Rank A): Try out 100 different clothing styles and find the best that fits you. (Accomplished)
4. Production (Rank D): Review 50 harmonies and try to come up with lyrics. (Accomplished)
5. Team (Rank A): Add 10 friends.]
’His missions are different.’
Just seeing Adrian’s skills, Rayen was envious. If not for Adrian’s D-rank production skill, Rayen would’ve cried at the unfairness. Though he wouldn’t trade his S rank singing skill to have a balanced skill set.
Rayen returned Adrian’s phone, which had been casually tossed aside by its owner.
’I guess I need to find someone new to befriend. But right now, I just want to sleep.’
That night, just as Rayen had expected, a sudden notification was sent to their systems, informing them that filming for the public broadcast’s second round would begin the next day.
...
When the morning approached, the participants all gathered at the entrance of the 3rd floor broadcast studio. Among the crowd, Rayen gazed around.
’Who should I approach?’
He was not the type of person to walk up and strike up a conversation with a stranger...
In his previous life, it was Liam who had approached him and introduced him to Jared. After his death, Adrian had been the one to talk to him first. Now, in a way, he had come to consider Adrian as one of his friends.
’How do I even start a conversation with someone I’m not familiar with?’
Rayen racked his brain, but he didn’t really know. That’s why even in his previous life, he only had two friends.
Sigh.
’Maybe later.’
Since they were forming new groups for the second round, he figured he could just interact with his teammates again.
Just then, the staff members informed them that filming would start shortly.
The staff called out the participants’ names from the entrance. Despite the puzzling situation, they each entered the studio one by one.
’Another ranking reveal?’
With the first round over, the rankings must have changed. However, when it was his turn to enter, he realized the true reason.
He stepped through the door and found himself in an unfamiliar room. A large projector screen was shining on the wall.
There... five familiar faces had been waiting for him.
"Rayen-chii!!!"
