Idol Revive: If I Don't Debut, I'll Disappear -
Chapter 69: Resentment? Sadness? Boredom?
Chapter 69: Resentment? Sadness? Boredom?
"Did you perhaps kill me?"
Rayen’s words sent a shiver throughout Liam’s spine.
Gulping, Liam opened his mouth. "I don’t know."
This truly wasn’t a lie.
Liam continued to explain, "I really don’t know... The only memory I have is seeing you already dead."
He swallowed hard, struggling to put his thoughts into words. Desperately, he wanted to believe he hadn’t done it, but the guilt he felt back then—the weight that had driven him to thoughts of suicide—was far too real.
Maybe he really did it. Maybe... But he didn’t want to accept that.
"I’m sorry..." Liam could only whisper.
Rayen sighed. "Jared told me we had an arguement after the concert."
Hearing Jared’s name, Liam paled. "Y-You met Jared?"
Rayen’s brows raised.
’What’s up with his reaction?’
Rayen decided not to further provoke him by asking about it. He would probably shrunk back more if he forced it.
Nodding, Rayen responded, "Yeah. He said he left us alone after that fight and only contacted us three days ago."
As he recounted Jared’s words to Liam, he couldn’t help but chuckle wryly.
’What a terrible move... He shouldn’t have left us alone.’
When Rayen thought of that, Liam had already turned quiet. Noticing it, Rayen chose to leave him alone to let him rest.
Even though he suspected his friend might have killed him, Rayen couldn’t help but pity him with his mummified condition. If Liam truly had been the one who killed him, what could Rayen even do? They were both already dead.
Resent him? Rayen wasn’t sure if he was that kind of person — one who could resent someone.
Besides, he was only able to contemplate this convoluted situation because of something supernatural. After this experience, he was certain there was no heaven waiting after death. Without this bizarre occurrence, he doubted he would even have the consciousness to dwell on these things.
Well... If he could also become an Entity, he could do the same thing. But obviously, he wasn’t kind enough to become one.
’But how did Plotter even become one? That person loves to mock us. Is that being kind?’
Dismissing his thoughts, Rayen returned to contemplating about his feelings. Right now, instead of feeling resentful, he was just kind of lonely. On his chest, there was a dull sensation that seemed like a lump he couldn’t get rid of.
What was the use of fame if no one even cared for him?
Rayen’s parents were already gone, so he only had Liam and Jared as his close connection, yet Liam was here with him, suspected as his own killer. And Jared...
Sigh.
’That guy... One thing to even mess up on was checking up on us.’
With nothing else to do, Rayen wandered aimlessly. Yesterday’s incident was still under investigation, and the private broadcast’s second segment had been postponed indefinitely. The next open broadcast round had yet to be announced, leaving all participants with free time.
After mocking Liam earlier, Rayen found himself utterly bored. He didn’t have his phone or any other electronics to pass the time.
In his previous life, he would have spent his free time playing games. But now? That was no longer an option. He realized with some amusement that practicing had become such a constant part of his life that he felt lost without it.
What a funny situation.
’Am I really addicted to dance practice now?’
Quickly, Rayen shook away his thoughts.
’What am I thinking?’
Sigh.
’What should I do now?’
Walking out of the infirmary, he glanced at the scenery outside. Then, he remembered what other things were located in this floor. The staff member that had guided him back then mentioned the available facilities during their initial tour and advised to spend their leisure time here when they didn’t have any activities.
Did they forsee this?
So, Rayen decided to explore around the floor. It was bustling with other participants, also making use of their free time.
Spotting a floor map, he scanned it for something to do. Although he had been guided here once, that was also the only time he had visited this floor, so he couldn’t really recall the entire layout.
To the left was the gym, taking up almost half the floor. But Rayen wasn’t a fan of body-building and ignored it. Dancing already gave him plenty enough exercise. He didn’t want to tire himself out on his rest day.
His eyes darted around the floor map until Rayen finally found what he was looking for — the arcade.
Memorizing the location, he headed there, occasionally passing unfamiliar participants
As he neared the center of the floor, where there was a large open area, he noticed a large crowd, all looking at the same place. Rayen followed their gaze and saw a large projection screen displaying a notice.
"Please wait... The episode is about to start."
’Episode?’
Rayen’s eyes lit up in realization. Oh, right... He had seen on the map just now that this floor also had a communal cinema.
Treading toward the crowd, Rayen spotted a familiar face. Adrian was sitting lazily in one of the seats. Sensing Rayen’s gaze, Adrian turned his head and waved with a smile.
Rayen approached him. "What are you watching?"
"It’s the third episode. It suddenly started playing and caught everyone’s attention," Adrian explained.
"Third? It’s already the third?"
Adrian nodded. "That’s what the title said. I guess the second episode aired while we were busy practicing for the first public round."
Thankfully, they didn’t have to film another reaction video. Perhaps because Plotter was dissatisfied with the first one, he decided not to bother filming them this time.
But then, Rayen remembered that right now, even on this floor, there could be cameras recording them. It wasn’t a bad setup, though. Knowing the cameras were there but not seeing them made the environment feel more comfortable.
’They could film us with ease.’
With that thought, Rayen decided to stay and watch the third episode.
