Idol Revive: If I Don't Debut, I'll Disappear -
Chapter 58: Only C-Rank
Chapter 58: Only C-Rank
Breathing heavily, Adrian finally made it out of that hell. The 15 routines were chosen randomly from the 40 routines he had done before, though a few unfamiliar ones had also been thrown into the mix.
Still, it was a task to memorize and perfect these routines in a matter of an hour.
He scanned the surroundings and found nine people calmly scattered across the lounge, minding their own business.
Adrian froze when he accidentally met Ara’s sharp gaze. A sudden sense of dread overcame him.
Had he finished the challenge too early?
Another participant suddenly appeared on thin air.
It was the delicate, little transgender boy, Jiji.
Now, up close, Adrian noticed that the kid had grown a bit taller, though, he still looked like a shrimp.
Was it puberty? Or was it because he had become a "he"?
"Sis Iris, Bother Zbigniew, I finished!" he shouted excitedly.
But the speakers screeched, and Plotter’s annoyed voice rang through the room.
"Participant Jiji, I’ll let it slide since this is a private broadcast. But can you stop saying, ’Sis Iris, Sis Iris’? She’s no longer a woman, okay?"
Jiji scratched his cheek sheepishly before making his way to his two parents — uh, friends.
Yeo Haru, from another corner of the room, smirked seeing Jiji mess up, not knowing he was also a target of Plotter’s extensive scrutiny at the moment. Jiji caught his gaze and glanced at him with a puzzled look.
’Did I do something to him?’
Remembering that this was the same guy who made fun of his height during the reaction video filming, Jiji made a face to provoke him back.
’Just because you’re taller than me, doesn’t mean you get to make fun of me!’
Yeo Haru didn’t make any further attempts to tease Jiji, his camera-conscious self knew better than to act out in front of the lenses.
At that point, only two people had completed the bonus trial.
Glancing at the clock, Adrian slumped onto a couch in the corner of the lounge to hide from Ara’s sharp eyes. He calculated the remaining time before the one-hour mark and then looked around to observe the people who had passed.
That’s when he noticed Liam staring blankly into space. Adrian was stunned. This person was actually among the nine people who had passed before?
So... Was his conclusion wrong?
After passing the routine, he was quite sure that only those who had skill levels B or higher could clear the trial.
He hadn’t yet checked what Liam’s status was after the first time he checked it. Curious, he pulled out his phone to check Liam’s stats.
[Name: Kang Liam
Stage Name: KLi
Vocals: B
Dance: B-
Visual: ???

Team: ???
Since Propagator System ver. 2.0, Participants’ data would be hidden from unrelated people. Please add him as friends first.]
Ignoring the message below, Adrian focused on Liam’s two main skills.
’So he was KLi. His vocal stats are actually at B now...’
However, something caught Adrian’s eyes.
There was a small icon beside Liam’s vocal stats. When Adrian tapped on it, he immediately understood the sudden jump in his skill level.
His vocal stat was based on his rapping skills.
More people began to emerge from the trial room.
Every now and then, Adrian would look up to see if Rayen was the one who made it out, but it wasn’t him.
Deciding to check his friend’s status, Adrian typed Rayen’s name on the search bar.
[Name: Im Rayen
Stage Name: NONE
Vocals: S
Dance: C-
Visual: B+
Production: C+
Team: D-]
’Oh, his dance skill was only at C-. How unfortunate...’
Knowing that Rayen had likely taken the dance trial, Adrian concluded that he probably wouldn’t make it.
’Well, his dancing skill is just too terrible.’
However, just as he thought that, a figure suddenly emerged out of thin air.
...
Rayen stumbled forward, his chest caving in and out as he breathed heavily. He glanced around and saw Adrian staring at him.
At that exact moment, the vintage clock in the corner struck the one-hour mark, its loud bell signalling the end of the time limit.
With six more participants making it through, the final tally stood at 15 out of 34 participants who will be able to proceed to the second segment of the private broadcast.
Aside from Adrian, Rayen recognized Jiji, Ayumi and Ryeon from the crowd who joined the nine pioneer participants. The others, he wasn’t sure.
Suddenly, Plotter appeared again, clapping dramatically as he strolled to the center of the room. All eyes turned to him.
"Congratulations, everyone! You passed~" Plotter’s eyes narrowed slightly as he turned toward Rayen. "Look at this — you’re the only C-Rank here. Heh, the others were too stupid!"
Clap, clap, clap.
Plotter was genuinely pleased because his idol had managed to come here, though Rayen couldn’t help but feel he was being mocked.
"You all here were able to pass because you used everything to your advantages, but those stupid participants were so adamant about spending some stupid coins. Glad, you’re not the same."
Rayen chuckled dryly in his mind. Was this person mocking his skills that he was only able to pass because he spent a ton of coins?
Well, technically, it’s true. He had passed now because of Boom Boom Body. But he didn’t have to mock him like that, right?
’You’re the one who even told me to spend money in the first place!’
Plotter interrupted his thoughts. "So now, I will explain to you the second segment."
Rayen calmed himself and listened to him.
"Each of you will be sent to different places."
Everyone buzzed with excitement. Were they going to leave this godforsaken place now? It had been a while, and most of them were getting sick of being cooped up here for weeks.
"Your task is simple. Plant an artificial book page to the Life Books of the people in the place you’ll be sent to. If you do that, they’ll become your genuine fans."
The corner of Rayen’s lips twitched.
’Why does it sound like we’re duping them?’
"How do we do it?" Adrian asked.
"Simple — make a deep impression."
Murmurs echoed around the room.
Eventually, another participant asked Plotter a curious question. "Can we use any means?"
Plotter smiled innocently. "You can."
Rayen felt a chill upon hearing it. Looking at the appearance of the participant who just asked, he finally recognized him as one of the thug-like person from Jiji’s group yesterday.
’Don’t tell me he’s planning to use some shady means?’
Dark scenarios flashed through Rayen’s mind, but he was snapped out of his daze when Plotter announced something else.
"If you can’t gather at least a thousand fans before the time limit, you’ll be considered to have failed. You have one day to do it."
A thousand in one day? That’s too much!
Plotter’s smiled widened. "Hehe, good luck~"
