Idol Revive: If I Don't Debut, I'll Disappear -
Chapter 55: Open Broadcast 1st Round (5)
Chapter 55: Open Broadcast 1st Round (5)
"Please vote for one group you think delivered the best performance."
Meanwhile, in the backstage waiting room, no one spoke. The silence was heavy, only the excited chants of the fans calling their names could be heard. The surreal sensation felt somewhat unbelievable.
’Is this what it feels like to be a celebrity?’
Binh gulped, the emotion whirling in his chest was a bit complicated for him to comprehend. In his past life, he had been the one calling and greeting someone else’s name when live streaming. Now, hearing his name chanted with such excitement and adoration, he felt a strange, newfound sense of fulfillment.
Maybe that’s why Yeo Haru enjoys the limelight so much.
When Binh glanced at his teammates, he noticed Yeo Haru’s fondness of cameras seemingly non-existent. There were no calculated smiles nor cutesy expressions aimed at the lens as usual.
But as Yeo Haru caught him staring, Binh quickly averted his gaze, flustered. Panicking, he patted Rayen’s back, who was sitting beside him.
"It’ll be fine, Brother," Binh said.
Rayen blinked his eyes in confusion.
’What will be fine?’
"... Don’t be nervous. We can win this," Binh added hastily.
’Who the heck was nervous?’
Liam, who was observing the scene, chuckled at Rayen’s bewildered expression. His laughter drew the attention of the two remaining members, who were previously oblivious to the situation, and also began patting the despondent Yeo Haru on his back.
"Good job, Leader," Minho said.
Yeo Haru was stunned for a moment by the sudden turn of events.
’Leader... Do they really think of me as the leader?’
"Leader, teach us how to look good on camera," Minho added, trying to flatter Yeo Haru.
Yeo Haru’s gloomy aura dispersed a little bit as he straightened his back and regained his usual smugness.
’This guy’s too easy to coax...’ Minho thought.
Noticing this camera hogger’s change of mood, Rayen shook his head. Then, he turned his head toward Binh, who only lowered his gaze, trying to avoid his scrutiny.
"You should probably apologize," Rayen said.
"Sorry..."
"Not to me."
Binh fell silent. Sensing his stubbornness, Rayen thought of a great idea. Whispering, he began telling him a story.
"During my first day here, there was someone who lost his temper and lashed out in anger."
Certain that Binh wasn’t among the participant who was revived during the first day, he decided to recount this story.
"You know what happened to him?"
Binh shook his head.
"He disappeared." Rayen said with an ominous tone. To further scare Binh, he imitated Plotter’s sly smile. "Slowly disintegrating, like sparks falling on the ground until there was nothing left of him but a speck of light."
Binh shuddered. He had actually heard rumors about this from his roommate, brushing it off as a make-up exaggerations. But hearing it from this hardworking and reliable brother... Was it really true?
"I... I’ll apologized."
Meanwhile, Yeo Haru was still receiving head and back pats from his two teammates. Their guilt over seeing him cry like a child earlier made them extra attentive.
Yeo Haru also felt the corner of his eyes sting from their kind words, but he resisted it. In his mind, he had cried enough already. His "strong" image he had painstakingly built had been destroyed from this two kittens’ eyes.
’No way I’ll cry again!’ Yeo Haru thought.
"We’ll win this, don’t worry," Renjiro said, confident with their performance.
Once the first round voting ended, Yeon Miwol smiled at the camera.
"Now, for the winning team!" she announced.
Intense music began playing to hype up the atmosphere as the audience below the stage erupted in cheers.
The participants leaned in closer to the screens in their waiting rooms. Although there wouldn’t be eliminations for this round, who wouldn’t hope to win?
"With a score of 25.6% and a total of 128 votes, the team winner is...."
On the screen, the scores of each team were displayed.
[1. Hula Hoop Girl - 128 votes (25.6%)
2. Resurrect Me - 127 votes (25.4%)
3. We Will Conquer - 114 votes (22.8%)
4. Undead - 93 votes (18.6%)
5. Keep The Music Alive - 38 votes (7.6%)]
"Team Hula Hoop Girl!"
Seeing the result, Renjiro and Minho stopped patting Yeo Haru.
"Just one vote..." Minho muttered in disappointment.
Renjiro raised his hands to take off his glasses to wipe it, but he forgot he was wearing contacts for today. "We even promised Grandma..."
Rayen sighed. However, the announcement still wasn’t over.
"For the second part of the voting, we’ll pick today’s MVP. You can pick a participant even from the non-winning teams," Yeon Miwol continued.
Hearing that, Rayen leaned back in his seat. He wasn’t expecting anything after watching the final performance.
In fact, he wasn’t even sure who the winner would be.
Back in the broadcasting studio, Yeon Miwol smiled brightly. "Now, for the Most Valuable Performer of the 1st round..."
As the camera panned backstage, showing the eager faces of the participants, Rayen’s phone buzzed.
[Congratulations, you just gained 257 Life Book points.]
’What? 257? That many?’
According to Rayen’s analyzation, one point equaled 100 impressions. So, 257 points meant he just made an impression to 25,700 people.
But how?
Also, it was strange.
Usually, the system would only notify him whenever he gained 100 points, but now... 257 points in an instant?
Was it because of the votes?
But there’s obviously not that much audience in the studio right now, so how can he make an impression on 25 thousand people at once?
But then again, when his sponsors chose him, the points he received was 1-to-1... exactly 5 points from his 5 sponsors.
Were the votes counted the same way?
Just as Rayen finished piecing his conjectures together, he noticed the others beside him gasp. Glancing around, Rayen saw Binh pointing at the screen with pleasant surprise.
"Brother, it’s you!"
’Huh?’
Rayen turned his gaze to the screen and saw his bewildered self displayed on it.
Ding!
Another notification popped out from his phone.
[Congratulations for winning the best performer award in the first round!
