Chapter 171: Cue Sheet

After a few more days of fixing the choreography and practicing to their hearts’ content, the day of the third round finally arrived.

As the brief pre-interview concluded, Rayen and his team gathered on the fifth floor studio where the familiar stage and elevated seats were waiting for them.

The seats have been divided into four sections, with the last section belonging to the participants who had no group.

This setup seemed a bit too cruel, but even though they weren’t performing today, they still had to watch the performances together with the live audience.

Just then, Rayen saw two familiar figures sitting side by side: Binh and Minho. Despite belonging to the same situation, the look on their faces was completely opposite from each other. Binh directly watched the arriving performers, while Minho was biting his lips and avoiding Rayen’s gaze.

But why was Binh there?

Only now did Rayen realize it. Binh didn’t even try to snatch a part for himself during the interim evaluation.

’Did he truly give up?’

With a sigh, Rayen headed toward his own seat together with the entire team. The other teams also arrived one by one and sat in their own area.

After a short instruction from the production staff, the filming finally began.

’Now that I think about it... I haven’t noticed Plotter’s and the Director’s presence for the past few days at all.’

Even right now, the Director was nowhere to be found even though it was her job to oversee the broadcast.

"Lights, camera..."

Rayen’s attention went back to the situation at hand. Somehow, he felt calm even with the impending elimination today.

Was it because of his 17 sponsors? Or was it because he believed they wouldn’t lose right now?

Either way, it didn’t matter. He just had to pass once again.

Yeon Miwol appeared from backstage. Introducing herself, she also announced the start of round three.

’Wait...’

Rayen glanced around the studio after noticing something amiss.

"Where’s the audience?" he asked his teammates who in turn also noticed this detail after he pointed it out.

"Yeah. Where are they?" Yeo Haru asked.

Xi Huan raised his hand and acted like it was a telescope. "I don’t see anyone at all."

’Even if you didn’t do that, you won’t be able to see anyone at all.’

Yet, even without the audience, the filming proceeded as usual.

"After a series of mini-games, the chance to decide the cue sheet for this round was given to Team Grit!" Yeon Miwol said.

Rayen shifted his attention back to her. On the screen, three cards also appeared on it.

"Now, let’s reveal the order of the performance!"

As soon as those words left Yeon Miwol’s mouth, the three cards on the screen flipped over, revealing the team names.

[1. Grit

2. Seven Flowers

3. IFY]

Rayen subtly glanced at the team who decided this order, unable to determine the reason for their decision. Why did they choose to be the first performers?

In Rayen’s mind, being the first performer, they carried the most pressure. Who the hell wanted to be the first one to perform? Unless they’re too confident with their performance, being the one to perform the opening scene would undoubtedly have the least and also the most expectations from the audience.

Least because there was no other performance to compare to theirs yet, and most because their performance would be the one used as a comparison with the next performances.

If they did poorly, they would quickly be forgotten, if not becoming a laughingstock. If they did great, though...

Well, it didn’t matter. Whether they do well or badly, Rayen’s team had to do better than them. That was the only path they must take to bag the win for today’s round.

Team Grit went to the stage to prepare for the performance. The lights dimmed and only went back when everything was ready on stage.

Actually, Rayen didn’t look forward to their performance. The song was just too spicy for Rayen’s liking. And aside from making a sexy concept, he just had no idea how the hell they could perform it.

A whistle echoed throughout the entire studio, its melody sounded pleasant and catchy to the ears. However, knowing what the next lyrics would be, his face scrunched up.

’I should have brought earplugs for Xu Jiji.’

However, contrary to his expectations, Rayen’s eyes were greeted by an entirely different concept than what he was thinking about.

’What the hell is this?’

Rayen blinked his eyes, unable to believe what he was seeing.

"I’m on my way~

Coming, coming into you."

The song right now had the same lyrics as he heard during the scouting performance and the interim evaluation.

Yet...

"Will you let me cover you?

It’s your call. Let me hear it ooh~"

Watching it right now, despite being the same song and having the same steps, it was still entirely different. It wasn’t as naughty as he thought.

’Is my brain just too rotten?’

The song reverberated throughout the entire studio.

"In this room,

I’ve been waiting to hear your voice

Give me a minute, or even a night

It’s up to your choice.

Will you let me cover you?"

Rayen closed his eyes to listen to the song. Now that he couldn’t see the things on the stage, the song really sounded sensual.

’Yeah, right. I’m not that rotten! This song is just a trap!’

When he opened his eyes, the feeling of sensuality vanished into oblivion. It was replaced with pure romance.

From a direct sex song, it just became a proposal for marriage.

"Just like that night

When we turned off the lights

Let me put it on you~

Oh, let me cover you~"

Ren and the others wore wedding attires, on their hands was a thin white veil. Their voices harmonized with each other; even the whistles were so good to the ears.

Whoever thought of changing the meaning of the song by adopting an entirely different concept was a genius.

The performance finished.

Even though Rayen hated to admit it, this time, that bastard Ren did great.

Just then, as the first team passed by the seats below, belonging to the participants without a team, Rayen noticed something interesting.

Ryeon’s roommate was glaring at them hard with gritted teeth.

He mouthed, "Shameless thieves."

Mr. Big News and Nana averted their gazes, seemingly feeling guilty.

’Heh... Is what I’m thinking right?’

Just now, Rayen was complimenting the person who came up with this idea. And now, Ryeon’s roommate just called them thieves. He might just be referring to snatching his song, but somehow, Rayen was sure it wasn’t just about that.

He was certain because Ryeon’s roommate’s gaze didn’t linger only at Ren and his partner. He was glaring at everyone from his former team.

If Ryeon’s roommate was the one who contributed most to that idea, but then, he got kicked out...

’Really, what a bastard that Ren is.’
