Idol Revive: If I Don't Debut, I'll Disappear -
Chapter 168: Sixth Public Episode (3)
Chapter 168: Sixth Public Episode (3)
– It hurts, it hurts, it hurts. Ah, this is so fun to listen to.
– I don’t know why I didn’t watch this MV the first time. I must be blinded by the other contestants.
– It’s so ingenious. The song, the performance, the visuals. I feel really full. Thank you, Flower Garden.
As the performance on screen continued playing, many viewers who’ve already forgotten about the existence of the MV of this unit’s team were reminded of it again. The continuous scandal that plagued Rayen overshadowed his performance.
Nowadays, it was easy to forget a gem’s shine if even a little dirt was smudged on it. The only thing that mattered was its flaws.
However, during this episode, they were reminded that Rayen wasn’t someone to be forgotten about — his voice, his visuals, the overall performance, and the unexpected rap coming from the main vocalist...
’I didn’t forget it, though.’
Reading the comments on the screen, Minji smiled in satisfaction. If only this situation continued, Rayen would have a smooth-sailing journey to debut, but it seemed like someone didn’t want that to happen.
’Why do I feel like my bias is so unlucky?’
With that thought, she didn’t notice that their performance had finally reached the end. Rayen and the others on screen had already struck their ending pose. Minji’s eyes were immediately glued to Rayen.
’Oh my God, I have to replay that!’
Left with a sense of dissatisfaction with the seemingly short performance, she just opened the comment section to vent out her feelings.
– Ah? That’s it?! I want more!
– It hurts, it hurts, it hurts that it’s over...
– Rayen’s mouth is like a machine gun. How did he do that?
– I’m gonna check out the MV! Bye!
The other viewers shared the same sentiments as the last commenter, and Minji saw the viewer count slightly decreasing at the corner. Those who stayed watched the intense score revelation for the MVP of this team.
When Xu Jiji’s name was called, Minji’s lips pouted in disappointment. It should have been Rayen.
’Why didn’t he win? With those kinds of expressions?!’
She recalled the dozens of screenshots she captured while watching the performance, still feeling bitter at the result.
However, it wasn’t the end. The next to be announced was the result of the unit competition. Minji did not let her eyes blink even for a moment.
"Then, let’s see the total votes received by Team Bloodless from the on-site viewers!"
[Bloodless: 391/500]
She didn’t care much about the result of the other team, but since it was the rival of Rayen’s team, she paid them the slightest of her attention.
"What about Team Love Makers, then?"
To make the announcement even more intense, they added drum sound effects.
[Love Makers: 419/500]
Minji’s cheers resounded throughout her room, but she remembered the last time she made a ruckus. Covering her mouth, she just typed a comment instead.
– Congrats! I knew you could do it!
– What? Is it just me who thought the first performance was better?
– Me too
– Seconded.
– The winner’s performance was too over-the-top.
Seeing the negative comments, Minji couldn’t help but click her tongue.
’They just don’t have a good taste.’
While she was busy retorting to the negative comments, the total score was finally revealed. She halted on typing, as her eyes moved away from the text box to the numbers displayed on the screen.
[Bloodless: 7,066]
[Love Makers: 6,606]
– What? They lost?
– No way, no way. Rigged!
– I’m a fan of the other group, but I still think it’s a bummer. What happened to the MV views?
– Flower Garden, show us the computation for the scores! No way a mere 20% can turn around the result!
– If only I streamed more...
Lots of the viewers were regretful, but even if they streamed it now, nothing would change either way. They had already lost.
Coming to her senses, Minji repeatedly pressed the backspace on her keyboard. However, before she could even finish her comment, the next episode preview started rolling.
– What the hell! Why is it over??? Who got eliminated?
– Kick Rayen, Kick Rayen, Kick Rayen.
– Kick the bullies, kick the bullies, kick the bullies!
With gritted teeth, she deleted her written comment again to retaliate.
– Shut up, haters. Rayen won’t be eliminated.
Then, another comment that seemed neutral appeared after hers.
– How do you know? Did you go to the on-site viewing?
Minji calmly replied to the person.
– No, I didn’t see FGE post a call for registration. But I think the elimination process was filmed separately that day.
– Then how do you know he wasn’t eliminated?
– If Rayen was eliminated, I don’t think Flower Garden had to prove Rayen’s innocence with their post. It’s just a hunch, but don’t you think that’s reasonable?
– Ah, I don’t care. I just want the bullies to keep going.
Minji was speechless. She had just explained too much, but it turned out it was a hater too.
In the end, she just closed UCube and proceeded to vote for Rayen on the site. That way, she could make up to Rayen.
"I just hope my hunch is really right..."
...
Minji couldn’t be more right. Rayen really did not get eliminated and even made a tale of impossible during the elimination segment. And all of that would be seen next week.
With that, the sixth episode was over.
Rayen’s phone immediately buzzed repeatedly as he received the impression count notifications again. This sensation he once thought to be annoying somewhat calmed his mind.
After this, they would go back to practicing. However, before that, Rayen had to finish one more thing — his Production Ranking Mission.
He only had 2 days left to fulfill it, yet his mind was still blank.
Anyway, it might just be because his mind was too tired of everything that had happened. The interim evaluation drained all of his energy, but they had to practice right after this.
’What a pain in the ass.’
Team Seven Flowers immediately went back to their normal routine. They gathered in their team’s practice studio and started working on the adjustment after the interim evaluation.
Having more than one part now, Rayen felt obligated to work hard even more.
They not only had to practice the adjustments of parts, there was still a crucial thing they had to discuss first. With the interim evaluation at hand earlier, the team had decided to postpone the meeting regarding this issue. But now that it was over, it was time to get on the right track.
Adrian gathered everyone in a circle, while he stood beside a whiteboard who knew from where he pulled out. When everyone had finally settled, he wrote something on the white board.
"Seven Flowers 1st After-Interim Meeting"
Adrian faced everyone as he set aside the pen he used. Rayen thought he looked more like a teacher rather than an idol, his eyeglasses adding even more to that impression.
"So, what are we gonna do with our concept?" Adrian asked.
