Idol Revive: If I Don't Debut, I'll Disappear -
Chapter 160 - 3rd Interim Evaluation (2)
Chapter 160: 3rd Interim Evaluation (2)
Six people danced on the stage simultaneously.
"Behold the act that I’ve shown.
Are you ready?
With every tears and sweat,
I’ve made it all..."
Besides Yeo Haru, Rayen recognized the other two who joined them for this battle of parts. One was the ballerina girl whose name Rayen didn’t remember and the other was Ryeon’s roommate. He also didn’t know his name.
As expected of a ballerina, her every movement was so graceful. Every sweep of her hand, every step of her feet, they flowed elegantly like a swan’s.
Meanwhile, Yeo Haru was the opposite. He wasn’t elegant, but his moves weren’t hurtful to the eyes. Seemingly more like he had incorporated some of his understanding to the song, his movements were up to the beats and lyrics, proving that he too, was a competent dancer.
Rayen, Xi Huan and Ryeon’s roommate all abided by the original steps they memorized. During their choreography lessons with Xu Jiji, Rayen would always pay attention to the kid’s instructions. And when alone, he would practice it.
So now, both him and Xi Huan’s movements and flair were almost similar to each other. However, it could still be seen just how Xi Huan’s moves were more precise than him.
But Rayen didn’t plan to compete with his dancing skills alone. That would be too conceited of him if he considered he could win with his C-ranked dancing skills.
Instead, Rayen would rely on his advantages — his singing.
"Sing my song,
Read my words,
For others to hear."
Rayen’s voice was almost like a lullaby to everyone watching the performance. They couldn’t help but find the source of that voice, their eyes turning to the person with red hair.
The part continued until the music faded. Rayen turned, raised his hands and struck the final pose for the ending with a big smile. He saw the eyes staring at him and imagined it came from his fans with his smile growing even more.
However, a loud pop took away those gazes from him. Even Rayen couldn’t help but glance beside him. There, red petals and colorful confetti rained down upon Xi Huan. One stray petal even made its way toward Rayen, landing on his nose.
Gradually, a collective sound of applause rang throughout the dance studio.
Rayen sighed.
To whose performance was this loud applause for?
The staff member instructed all of them to go down for the next set of challenges. For his team, no one took on the challenge for Yeo Haru and Adrian’s parts, so Iris was the next one to go up the stage.
Their challenge only took a minute before it ended. The next one after Iris was Ayumi. Both Iris and Ayumi boasted about their visual card department, but Ayumi struggled for her performance. However, because of Adrian’s help last night, she got a character that could help her temporarily boost her stage presence.
Rayen continued to watch the evaluation intently until his name was called. Once again, he ascended the stage, his eyes glowering toward Ren.
Meanwhile, Ara’s back was as straight as a ruler. She looked ahead of her, chin slightly raised. The way she gazed at everyone looked like she was above everyone else, making her aura so imposing.
Just then, another participant lined up to challenge Rayen. He was one of Team Seven Flower’s members — Adrian.
’Huh?’
Rayen blinked, then glanced back at his teammates. Adrian was really no longer there. He turned back to Adrian who was already smiling wistfully.
The staff finally announced the start of the challenge.
Even though Rayen was slightly flustered at the sudden turn of events, the moment Rayen heard the intro of the chorus, his body moved instinctively. His lips parted, uttering the lyrics of his own part.
"Behold the act that I’ve shown!
Have you seen it yet?"
After practicing this part numerous times in the past five days, he had already ingrained everything to his body. This was the killer part of the song, no way he would neglect practicing his own part.
He might not be the better dancer out of everyone here, but Rayen knew, he wouldn’t lose. Working all out, Rayen poured his everything into this 15 seconds performance.
He didn’t know if he’d be kicked out by his teammates. If he didn’t know, why not just convince them that it’d be a waste to kick him out?
Eyeing his three opponents from the corner of his eyes, Rayen uttered the last of his lyrics with a smirk on his lips.
"Hear my song!
Read my words!
Stare at it!
Spread the colors,
I’ve longed for everyone to see."
It was over.
Out of breath, Rayen faced the audience below before walking down the stage. He did not glance toward his opponents at all, as if doing so would not be worth his time.
’If I still don’t win, so be it. At least, I did my best.’
Before he reached the team though, Adrian was able to catch up with him. He grabbed Rayen’s shoulders, but Rayen ignored him.
He felt annoyed with this lazy writer. Although it wasn’t against the rules that their teammates could challenge for their parts, and Rayen and Yeo Haru had already tried to snatch Xi Huan’s part earlier, but that case was different.
Rayen thought the team had already tacitly agreed on not snatching from those who only had a single part.
But this guy... Rayen clicked his tongue.
Adrian laughed. "Hey, I’m just trying to make you look good!"
Rayen held himself back from rolling his eyes out of consideration with the cameras surrounding them.
’Look good, my ass.’
When they reached their team, Adrian turned to their members, "You wouldn’t vote for me, right?"
"....."
Team Seven Flowers didn’t make a sound. Shrugging Adrian’s hands, Rayen joined his teammates.
Finally, the first voting evaluation would commence. Since there was no one that lined up behind Xu Jiji, daring to challenge him, Rayen and his team were just about to walk toward the door that the staff member pointed to earlier.
However, Yeo Haru remained standing on stage. Noticing this, Rayen and his other members glanced back at Yeo Haru, including Xu Jiji.
"I want to challenge Xu Jiji’s part," Yeo Haru declared, looking at Xu Jiji.
Xu Jiji stared back at Yeo Haru. Meanwhile, Rayen’s head throbbed.
’Ah... Here comes another headache... Was it just me who thought we came to an agreement?’
