Idol Revive: If I Don't Debut, I'll Disappear -
Chapter 158: Another Conflict
Chapter 158: Another Conflict
One day before the 3rd interim evaluation, the team was practicing as usual. Each member had already memorized their own parts with the help of Yeo Haru’s Memory Pills, so they were now focused on practicing as a group.
Adrian’s characterization, though...
’So useless.’
Rayen complained in his mind. He had sacrificed getting other useful attributes to help him out with his mission, but the only inspiration he gained was about creating some music.
During his band days, he did have experience creating music on his own or with his bandmates, so it wasn’t new to him. Those times, though, since he was the band’s vocalist, they mostly only created their songs around him.
Now that he thought about it, that band... really did have him as the center. So throughout their career, he didn’t know how to create a song that catered to other singers.
That must be what he lacked that Ayumi was pointing out. That discovery also made him quite excited about writing a new song. He couldn’t help but think what could be a good song for someone struggling with his vocals as Xu Jiji, or think where the passages of the song would look good for a music video.
However, right now, he shouldn’t really be looking to make new music. They were quite in a pinch with their upcoming performance. Instead of distracting himself with something irrelevant, he should focus on their current song.
’Ah, this is so frustrating.’
As Rayen was distracted with his thoughts, he made a mistake on one of the steps, nearly falling out of balance. Embarrassed, he tried to brace himself and sneaked a peek at his teammates while he continued to the next steps.
"S-Sorry!" Rayen apologized.
But the others’ attention was already distracted by Xu Jiji’s voice behind him.
"Um... You should probably lower your waist more to this part..."
Rayen’s eyes immediately landed on Xu Jiji. The kid had long stopped dancing as he faced Yeo Haru beside him. Yeo Haru also stopped dancing, staring intently at Xu Jiji.
’Uh-oh...’
Rayen finally halted and instead continued to watch the two, readying himself to move immediately once a fight broke out. The others noticed his actions, especially Adrian.
"Is there something wrong?" asked Adrian.
"Yes. I don’t know. Maybe not yet," Rayen answered in a series of unintelligible words.
"Yes, but not yet? Maybe? Huh?" Xi Huan asked, puzzled.
Rayen didn’t answer but kept on watching.
Yeo Haru has a frown on his face. Rayen knew this guy took pride in his dancing. He was especially sensitive when it came to Xu Jiji too. Better be safe than sorry.
"What’s wrong with my dancing?" Yeo Haru asked.
"There’s nothing wrong about it," Xu Jiji said.
"Then why did you suddenly stop me?"
Xu Jiji opened his mouth to try to explain, but he seemed to be feeling conflicted. In the end, he only shut his mouth and bit his lips.
"Nothing," Xu Jiji said, puffing his cheeks and turning around.
"What’s with you?" Yeo Haru asked, annoyed.
He was able to lower his voice at the end and asked calmly, but Rayen thought if this escalated any further, then it would be a disaster. Rayen didn’t want another scandal breaking out.
’Why is it always about Yeo Haru, anyway?’
Whenever he was teammates with him, there would be a fight breaking out. What a pain.
Finally, Adrian felt obliged to intervene with the event.
"What’s wrong, JJ?" Adrian asked.
’This guy really does like giving nicknames to others.’
"Nothing. I just think the steps felt off," Xu Jiji replied, lowering his gaze in embarrassment. "I’m sorry to interrupt the practice."
"Then what’s off?" Yeo Haru asked, his voice turning sharp.
Adrian’s nerves were subtly showing on his forehead again.
’Hey! If you keep this up, you’d be thrown out of the team!’
Rayen signalled for Yeo Haru to stop.
Yeo Haru didn’t notice it and continued, "If you just tell me there’s something off, but you won’t tell me what, how can I even solve it?"
With Yeo Haru’s subtle words, Rayen finally relaxed. Learning from Binh’s mistake and their problems right now, Yeo Haru wouldn’t just spout offensive words. Even though Yeo Haru might not be afraid of Adrian, he was afraid of the cameras. Aside from Rayen, he was the most afraid of the cameras.
So he could only voice his frustration right now while holding back.
Xu Jiji glanced back at him, his cheeks still puffed out. Normally, this kid was vocal with his thoughts, but apparently, he just couldn’t get along with Yeo Haru.
’But why?’
Adrian sighed, his nerves calming down. "Yeah, JJ. You should say it if there’s something wrong."
"....." Xu Jiji remained silent.
"Why don’t you just try to dance right now and let the others see what’s wrong?" Iris suggested to Yeo Haru to ease the tension.
Yeo Haru stared at Xu Jiji for a while before agreeing. However, Xu Jiji had something more to say.
"It won’t show unless I dance with him..." Xu Jiji’s face was still red.
’... Oh, I get it.’
Rayen gestured toward Adrian to come closer.
"What’s it?" Adrian asked after approaching Rayen.
Rayen whispered. "Height difference."
"Huh?" Adrian was confused but glanced at the two dancers.
Although Yeo Haru wasn’t as big as Mr. Big News, who was almost over six feet, he still had long limbs compared to most of the members in the team. Remember that half of their team was half composed of women (fake men included), and then the short Xu Jiji. There really was a considerable dip in the height difference.
Even Rayen and Adrian who were close in height were a bit shorter than Yeo Haru by a few centimeters.
In the part where they just stopped, Yeo Haru’s position in the formation was certainly awkward. If he didn’t lower himself, the harmony of the steps would look off because the position of his hand was a bit higher than the others. Xu Jiji had to stretch his arms more to match the others’ moves, but Yeo Haru’s displacement still killed it.
However, if Yeo Haru was sensitive over his dancing skills, Xu Jiji was even more sensitive to his own height. Adding to the fact that Yeo Haru were among the participants who pointed out Jiji’s shortness before, Xu Jiji didn’t want to be the one telling the problem.
This was a recipe for disaster.
Xu Jiji must have remembered Vance’s suggestion to Mr. Big News before and wanted to point it out to Yeo Haru, but he couldn’t say outright that the reason was his height. That would be admitting that he was short himself.
Sigh.
When Adrian finally realized what the commotion was about, he crossed his arms. Then, he walked beside Yeo Haru and grabbed his shoulders before pushing him down.
Seemingly feeling pain on his shoulders, Yeo Haru had no choice but to lower himself down.
Adrian smiled. "About right."
Yel Haru frowned, a question mark seemingly hovering on his head.
"Make sure to take note of this height. Whenever we dance the part where we just stopped, okay?" Adrian said.
"Ah..." Yeo Haru finally understood. He peeked at Xu Jiji who only averted his gaze.
Thankfully, it didn’t escalate to another conflict...
