"Duke Hezler, you seem to be quite full of yourself."
"Who do you think you are!"
One after another, characters keep appearing, making things quite hectic.
Hezler, with a high-pitched voice, hid behind a man who seemed to be the leader of the Grimritter.
The leader held a spear in his hand.
The spear was so thick and heavy that it would be difficult for two grown men to carry it together.
Yet, he held it effortlessly with both hands, showing his confidence in his physical strength.
"If you come any closer to Lord Hezler, I will kill you."
"What are you talking about, coming all the way to the capital of another country? You must have informed the king about this beforehand, right?"
"I have no need to tell you."
As expected of a machine-like unit.
They show no emotion towards me and are solely focused on protecting Hezler.
As hired hands, they are undoubtedly reliable and impressive.
However, the Balfonte family doesn't need such people.
Being loyal to orders means they can't achieve anything beyond what's commanded.
Doing only what you're told is something we outgrew in our childhood.
If I were in their position, I would have already killed Letitia and the others.
Anyone who stands in the way is a threat and should be eliminated beforehand.
Yet, they do nothing until I make a move, behaving so properly.
In this regard, Lillisha is much quicker to make decisions.
"Ugh! Dearkiny! Hurry up and finish off those brats!"
"As you wish."
The man called Dearkiny thrust his spear.
I felt the wind pressure strong enough to pierce the sky, but I dodged it with minimal movement.
Hmm, not bad.
"...To dodge my thrust like that."
"Dearkiny! Finish him in one strike!"
"With my current combat ability, that's impossible. This boy is no ordinary person."
"What! And you're supposed to be the man feared as the 'True Heaven'!"
That fat guy doesn't get it, but the range of a spear is incomparable to that of a sword.
Dearkiny knows well the significance of not being able to hit me when I deliberately entered his range.
The remaining Grimritter members, ignoring Letitia and Lillisha, surround me.
"You should really think about when to retreat. I just want to punch that fat guy once, and that's it."
"If you intend to harm Lord Hezler, we will not show mercy."
"Such loyalty. Do you get paid well?"
"I have no need to tell you."
Well, I guess not.
I sneered at Hezler.
"Hey, fatso. If I manage to punch you, you won't be able to go out so confidently anymore, right?"
"That will never happen! The Grimritter is incomparable to the knights of this country!"
"I'll admit that. After all, the knights here are poorly trained, and they slack off during expeditions."
"Fuhihihihi! See that! The Grimritter is also known as the Dark Fairy Tale! You've made an enemy of the most dangerous force on this continent!"
As I sneered for the second time, they moved.
Dearkiny's thrust was unleashed, followed by a storm of slashes from the other guards.
Their strikes were precise, each one as accurate as a Blood Mantis.
"Not bad."
As expected of an elite unit, they would put up a decent fight against the servants guarding the mansion.
Thinking that, I deflected their slashes with minimal effort, causing them all to lose their balance.
Dearkiny's rapid thrusts were dodged at the last moment, just before they reached my nose.
"Take this!"
"What!?"
I swung my demon sword upwards, cutting through the spear and lifting Dearkiny off the ground.
In that moment, I dashed past him, heading straight for Hezler.
"Yo."
"Eek!"
I drove my fist into Hezler's face.
Teeth scattered, and his nose broke as Hezler crashed into the carriage behind him.
"Ugh!"
Hezler, making a pig-like sound, was knocked out cold.
His already ugly face became even uglier.
"L-Lord Hezler!"
"Ugh, ugh..."
The butler shook Hezler, but he probably won't wake up for a while.
And carrying that massive body back to the carriage will be quite a task.
Well, the carriage's side is already damaged from the impact of his huge body.
Meanwhile, Dearkiny and the others stood frozen.
I tapped their shoulders from behind.
"You guys are pretty good. Even I couldn't come out unscathed. See, my hair got a little cut, right?"
Dearkiny didn't move.
A single drop of sweat running down his forehead revealed his inner thoughts.
Understanding this, Dearkiny placed his spear on the ground.
"Bolk Butler, this boy is beyond my capabilities. We will take Lord Hezler and leave the capital."
"Y-You can't just..."
"Our duty is to protect Lord Hezler. But if we fight this boy, we won't be able to fulfill that duty."
"I suppose we have no choice..."
After causing quite a commotion, Hezler and his entourage retreated towards the city gates with their carriage.
Dearkiny, carrying the unconscious Hezler, glanced at me as they left.
They barely made it out in time.
But those guys, they were on high alert the moment I appeared.
They instantly realized that Letitia and Lillisha had lost their will to fight.
Knowing those two, they probably thought there was no need to step in as long as I was here.
"Alphiss , thank you for saving us."
"It would have been tough for you to handle them."
Even the silent Lillysha knew she couldn't take them all on by herself.
That's why she didn't say anything to me.
Having a strong sense of justice is good, but it's useless without the strength to back it up.
"Th-Thank you..."
"The child doesn't seem to be hurt. That was quite a disaster."
The woman who had been slapped by Hezler bowed deeply.
The child, though confused, imitated his mother.
Well raised, aren't they?
My Giliam still can't apologize unless I threaten him—no, I mean, unless I persuade him.
