I Was Kidnapped By The Strongest Guild
Chapter 166: Make Your Wish

The 100-won coin the boy handed me was enough to make a wish.

Even though it was just 100 won, giving it to someone must not have been easy. For some reason, the people in this neighborhood were incredibly generous.

"King! You've got 100 won! Now you have hope too!"

"Yeah, it seems so."

I could always pay it back later. I would definitely repay him if I met him again.

Clutching the 100-won coin, I looked around at the kids.

"Let's all make a wish silently and throw it at the same time."

"Okay!"

"Okay."

I wondered what wishes they were making. Filled with anticipation, I made my wish.

-Please make my family happy.

Each of us made a wish and tossed our coins. For me, it wasn't just a wish but a personal vow to make my family happy. My actions would influence their happiness and sadness.

"King, did you and Dark King make a wish?"

"Yeah."

"What did you wish for?"

Dark King?

The policewoman who had been watching us muttered. She must have realized it was just child's play and didn't take it seriously.

"I wished for Levinas and Saebyeok to be happy."

"Really?!"

"Yeah. What did you two wish for?"

I looked at them curiously.

Saebyeok was the first to speak.

"I wished for your wish to come true."

"Wow! Levinas did the same!"

Both kids wished for others' happiness instead of their own. Such kind children.

Grateful, I patted their heads. Levinas's pupils were trembling slightly for some reason.

"Everyone's wish has already come true...!"

"Already?"

"Yes! Levinas is very happy right now! How about you, Saebyeok?"

In response to Levinas's question, Saebyeok wagged her tail. It was a form of communication that expressed more than words.

"Saebyeok's very happy too."

"Wow... Thank you, angel...!"

Levinas looked up at the baby angel statue in the fountain, her eyes shining brightly. She clasped her hands together as if in prayer.

"The wish came true as soon as we made it?"

The policewoman watching us looked like she had the whole world.

I knew she found the children adorable.

Of course, my kids were cute.

Feeling good, I joined in, something I wouldn't usually do.

"Yes, the fountain really made our wishes come true."

I knew the fountain didn't grant wishes, but I pretended not to know to protect the children's innocence. A wish-granting fountain was a magical idea.

"Ah..."

The policewoman looking down at me blushed. Her hand hesitated before patting my head.

Gently, she ruffled my hair.

Why is she patting my head instead of the kids?

Wondering, I glanced around. A giggling girl covered her mouth, and a middle-aged man smiled warmly.

It felt like everyone was watching me. Were they looking at the kids behind me?

I was happy that people were being kind to the children.

Smiling, my tail wagged. Seeing this, the policewoman looked like she was about to cry.

"Why, why are you crying...?"

"I'm just so happy..."

Her tears were of joy, not sadness.

People do cry when they're overwhelmingly happy.

Maybe my kids had that effect.

I couldn't help but feel a bit proud.

"Sniff..."

The police officer closed her eyes. She was truly an expressive person.

Back at home, I harvested the vegetables. As I held a cabbage larger than my head, Seol grabbed the hem of my clothes.

"Meow! Meow!"

Seol clung to my shirt, which reached down to my thighs, and dangled like a pendulum. Because of the cat's weight, one side of my shirt slipped off my shoulder, but I was more concerned about Seol's behavior.

"Seol, what's wrong?"

"Meow!"

Seol dropped from my clothes and ran in a specific direction.

The cat stopped halfway and looked back at me, as if to say, "Follow me."

Is there something over there?

I put down the cabbage and followed Seol.

It was fascinating to realize I could run at the same speed as a four-legged animal.

"What is this..."

Seol led me to the pond, where I saw Saebyeok and Levinas engrossed in something.

Splash!

The kids were filling an old bathtub with pond water. They were diligently scooping and pouring water from the pond.

What are they doing?

I asked Saebyeok out of curiosity.

"What are you doing?"

"Making a fountain."

"A fountain?"

"Yeah."

Saebyeok came over and adjusted my shirt, pinning it with a safety pin from her pocket.

"Thanks."

"It's what I do."

Saebyeok ruffled my hair.

She must have learned this from watching adults.

It felt strange, as this was usually something adults did to children, but it was better than learning bad things. I just smiled at her.

"So, why are you making a fountain?"

"It will grant wishes!"

Levinas answered while pouring water into the tub. Were they trying to share the joy of the park's fountain with everyone?

I decided to help them with their hard work.

"I'll help you."

"Okay!"

I fetched a bucket from the tent and started scooping water. Nearby, Seol chased a butterfly.

"Seol, don't go too far."

"Meow!"

Seol nodded in understanding.

I wasn't surprised since I knew the cat was smart.

Making sure the kids didn't get hurt and Seol didn't wander off, I continued to carry water from the pond.

With the three of us working together, we filled the tub quickly.

"It's done!"

Levinas cheered and raised her arms in triumph. Saebyeok clumsily followed suit. They were so happy just to fill an old tub with water. It was worth the effort.

"Now people's wishes will come true?"

"Yeah! But they have to throw coins in! One coin per wish!"

Levinas giggled with her hand over her mouth. I realized this was her business idea.

"You did this to make money?"

"Yes! They said the owner of the fountain gets the coins!"

Where did she learn that?

I scratched my cheek and looked at the makeshift fountain.

I was proud of Levinas for coming up with a way to make money.

It was meaningful to grant wishes and receive coins in return.

However, I doubted people would throw coins into an old tub. Levinas might be disappointed if no one did.

"Levinas, maybe we should decorate the fountain more?"

"More?!"

"Yeah. The fountain we made wishes at had an angel spouting water. A real fountain should spray water to look nice."

A fountain that doesn't spray water isn't really a fountain. Realizing this, Levinas's eyes widened.

"But Levinas doesn't have anything to spray water?!"

"Yeah... what should we do..."

I was wondering how to attract people's attention when Levinas stepped into the tub.

"Levinas will spit out the water!"

"Levinas?"

"Yeah!"

Levinas filled her mouth with water from the tub.

"Fwoosh!"

She spat out the water like a water gun.

"Hmm..."

A living fountain?

That would be difficult to maintain.

Just as I was about to stop her, something amazing happened. Vegetables started growing where she spat out the water. Carrots, eggplants, and other varieties sprouted up.

"Levinas, do it over there too."

"Fwoosh."

She filled her mouth and spat, again and again. Levinas repeated this for a long time, turning the area around the tub into a vegetable garden.

"Wow..."

Levinas's plant-growing ability was always impressive.

I clapped in admiration, and she sank beneath the water. Bubbles rose to the surface of the tub.

"······!"

I quickly pulled her out. Levinas slumped in my arms.

"King, I'm tired..."

"Sorry, I was so amazed..."

I patted her back. Saebyeok, for no reason, crawled into my arms too, so I patted her as well. She purred like a cat.

"Now it's your turn, King...!"

"Me? Do I have to...?"

"Yeah!"

"Um... okay..."

Normally, I wouldn't have done it, but I felt guilty for overworking Levinas. I hesitantly got into the tub.

"Wow! An angel fountain!"

"No, Gyeoul is prettier than an angel."

"Oh, that's right!"

The kids' innocence was endearing. Blushing, I hung my head.

"King, you have to spit water!"

"O-okay..."

This is just playing with the kids, I told myself.

I splashed water out of the tub, using my hands instead of my mouth like Levinas. At that moment, someone came through the tall vegetables.

"I saw something growing, and of course, it's you guys."

Jung Yu-na laughed as she approached the fountain. She crouched down in front of me to meet my eyes.

"Kids, what are you doing here?"

"A fountain!"

Levinas answered for me, puffing out her chest.

"A fountain?"

"Yeah! Make a wish!"

"Oh, so you're wishing on Gyeoul? Like an angel statue?"

Jung Yu-na chuckled and pulled a coin from her pocket.

It was a five-hundred won coin. Why did she have to come at the exact moment I was in the tub? My ears and tail drooped.
