I Was Kidnapped By The Strongest Guild -
Chapter 148: Someone Who Has Experienced Both Sides
I used my hands and tail to hold up my slipping clothes.
Seeing my odd state, the male adventurer approached slowly.
"Are you okay?"
"Yes..."
I gathered my clothes and stood up.
My young body showed some skin around my shoulders and waist, but it didn't matter because of my youth.
If I had my previous adult female body, it would have been very embarrassing.
"Well..."
The man knelt down in front of me.
With a worried look, he examined my arms."Did someone scare you?"
Scare me?
Did he think my clothes were torn because of bullying?
I decided to reassure the kind adventurer in front of me.
"No, I wasn't bullied."
"Really?"
"Yes. My clothes just tore because they're old."
"Oh, your clothes... would you like to wear this?"
The male adventurer took off his shirt and offered it to me.
It was big enough to cover my entire body, but it would leave him exposed.
I should probably decline.
Just as I was about to wave my hand to say no, Kwon Arin came running towards us, looking very angry.
"Hey! What are you doing?!"
Kwon Arin, panting heavily, hugged me tightly.
I was forced to bury my face into her chest.
She grabbed my slipping clothes, holding them up for me.
I felt her hands press against my shoulder blades and lower back.
"Um...?"
I couldn't see.
My mouth was covered, so I couldn't speak.
I could only twitch my ears in response.
"You crazy bastard, what are you doing to the kid?!"
"N-no, this is...!"
"How dare you undress the child?!"
Kwon Arin's shout echoed in my ears.
The sound was so loud I wanted to cover my ears, but I couldn't move because she was holding me.
My whole body trembled from the unblocked noise.
Isn't this easy to resolve?
As I felt awkward, my ears began to flatten, seemingly to block out the noise.
"No, the child is so scared she's trembling!"
"It's a misunderstanding! A misunderstanding!"
"Misunderstanding, my...!"
Kwon Arin stopped shouting and clamped her mouth shut.
She poked my lower back with her fingers and whispered in my ear.
"...A misunderstanding?"
"Yes. It's a misunderstanding."
Through the slight opening, I looked up at Kwon Arin.
I saw her throat move as she swallowed.
"So, why are your clothes...?"
"My clothes tore. He was giving me his shirt."
"..."
Kwon Arin fell silent at my explanation.
She realized she had misunderstood.
It was a relief that the misunderstanding seemed to be cleared up.
"Um... I'm sorry for the misunderstanding."
She bowed her head without hesitation.
My upper body bent backward in her embrace.
"...No, it was an understandable misunderstanding. It hurts my feelings, but I understand."
"...I'm really sorry."
An awkward silence ensued.
I looked around cautiously and tapped Kwon Arin on the shoulder.
"Excuse me, my clothes..."
"Oh, right. Should I bring you some clothes?"
"Not clothes, tape. It's in the burrow Levinas dug over there."
To get clothes, we would have to go back up to the house and come down again.
I didn't want to waste Kwon Arin's time because of me.
Getting tape from the nearby burrow was the best option.
"Wouldn't it be better to get clothes?"
"Tape is faster. I can just stick it on and head home."
"Hmm... alright."
Kwon Arin brought a roll of box tape from the nearby burrow.
She tore off a long piece, seemingly ready to help tape my clothes.
"Adventurer, could you hold Gyeoul's clothes for a moment?"
"Sure."
The kind adventurer held my slipping clothes in place.
I just stood there with my arms out to the sides.
Rip-!
Kwon Arin cut short pieces of tape and wrapped them around me like a mummy. Her craftsmanship wasn't the best, as some tape stuck to my exposed skin.
My tail also got taped to my back, making it impossible to move.
"...Sorry. It looks like some kind of restraining outfit."
"It's okay. As long as my body is covered."
"Well... yes. You should go home quickly and change."
"Yes. Thank you for your help. I'll be going now."
I bowed politely to the two who helped me.
Despite the trouble I caused, they just smiled.
"Be careful going in, it might tear again."
"Okay."
Their kindness made my tail twitch, though it was stuck to my clothes.
I needed to get home and change quickly.

Ding-dong-
I opened the front door and stepped inside. I sensed Sophia's presence in the living room.
"Sophia."
I called her name naturally as I walked in.
She looked up at me from where she was resting on the massage chair.
"Child, were you bullied...? Why are your clothes like that...?"
Sophia got off the chair and circled around me.
Her gaze fixed on my tail stuck with tape.
"My clothes tore. I patched them up with tape."
"Hmm... you even stuck your tail."
"Yes, it just went in on its own when I was taping."
"You let your guard down."
Sophia gently removed the tape from my tail.
Somehow, she managed to do it without pulling out any fur.
It didn't hurt either.
My freed tail wagged quickly, expressing its joy.
"It's strange that I can't control my tail."
"It's because you're young. It's natural, so don't worry."
Pat-pat.
Sophia patted my back. Her comforting touch felt good.
"Is it always like this?"
"Yes, a child's body is hard to control in many ways. Don't you start nodding off at ten every night?"
"Oh..."
I felt like I understood what Sophia was getting at.
When I had an adult's body, I could stay awake even if I was tired, but now, at ten o'clock, my eyes would automatically close.
"And Gyeoul, you were originally human. It must be hard to adjust to the differences between the two species."
"Yes. There are many differences between beast-kin and humans. I feel it almost every day."
"Ho... Only someone who has experienced both would know such things."
Sophia's eyes gleamed with interest.
As someone who pursued knowledge, she was fascinated by new information.
"Has there ever been a case like mine, where a human became a beast-kin?"
"No, Gyeoul, you are the only one."
"Oh... So, it's knowledge that only I have?"
"Yes, could you share your knowledge with me? I am truly curious."
Sophia's tail wagged up and down, showing her excitement.
"Well... the most significant aspect is instinct."
"Instinct?"
"Yes. It's like there's something difficult to control."
"It's well known that beast-kin are instinctual."
Despite being familiar with this knowledge, Sophia showed interest because she knew that experiencing both sides brought different insights.
"I think it's because our senses are more sensitive, making us more instinctual."
"Senses?"
"Yes. I couldn't distinguish smells right in front of me before, but now I can identify scents from hundreds of meters away."
"Ho..."
Sophia let out a rough breath, satisfied that she could fulfill her thirst for knowledge.
"Using your sense of smell to find something might seem animalistic, but there's no reason not to use a given ability."
"Exactly."
"So, what I'm saying is, we act more on instinct because we use our senses more frequently than humans."
"That's perfect."
Not "I understand," but "That's perfect."
She acted as if she already knew everything.
"Did you know this too?"
"Yes, I knew the theory. But you are the first to experience and prove the difference. I'm delighted to hear it from you."
"Oh..."
For someone who pursues knowledge, proof is essential.
She was happy that I had provided evidence. Making Sophia happy made me feel very joyful.
"Is there anything else? If you notice something later, please let me know."
"Well... I realized something today."
"What is it?"
"Beast-kin seem to really like having their heads petted."
"Having their heads petted?"
Sophia looked puzzled as she placed her hand on my head.
It was clear she had never heard of this before.
"Yes. Strangely, it feels good to have my head petted. Levinas and Saebyeok like it too."
"That's..."
Sophia started petting my head.
My tail wagged happily and quickly.
"Is there something different about us compared to humans?"
"Hmm... Gyeoul, did anyone ever pet your head when you were human?"
In this life, no one had.
In my past life, it had been so long that I couldn't remember how it felt to have my head petted.
I shook my head towards Sophia.
"Come to think of it, getting my head petted is something that happened for the first time after I became beast-kin..."
"...Is that so."
"Yes..."
Sophia's interest visibly faded. I kept my mouth shut, watching her reaction.
"Gyeoul, getting your head petted is something everyone likes, regardless of species."
"······."
"You probably misunderstood because you didn't experience it when you were human."
I see.
My face flushed with embarrassment.
I fidgeted with my fingers, which had lowered for no reason.
"I'm sorry. I mistakenly thought I had experience when I didn't..."
"There's nothing to be sorry about. People make mistakes and have misunderstandings."
Even though I had given her incorrect information, Sophia waved her hand, saying it was fine. I was grateful for her kind heart.
