Chapter 99: Chapter 99 Our House was Robbed (1)_1
Xia Wan’an, not expecting Han Jingnian to be at home, stared at him in surprise for a while before giving a nod and saying, "Oh".
Ignoring the constant vibrations of the phone in his pocket, Han Jingnian deliberately slowed down to position his suitcase upright, extending the handle. Seeing that Xia Wan’an had nothing else to say, he said to her, "Then, I’m leaving."
Xia Wan’an responded with another "Oh" and moved aside from the entrance of the dressing room.
After lingering in the same spot for a while and seeing that Xia Wan’an was still silent, Han Jingnian spoke again, "I’ll be back this weekend."
Subconsciously, Xia Wan’an turned her head and glanced outside the window, only to find that it was indeed night, not day, and she finally calmed down.
She was startled, she thought she had her days and nights mixed up!
After composing herself, Xia Wan’an gave another "Oh" to Han Jingnian.
Without saying anything else, Han Jingnian started to drag his suitcase towards the bedroom door. After a few steps, he paused again, "Goodbye."
What’s happening to Han Jingnian today? He’s surprisingly initiating conversation with her...
Xia Wan’an continued to stare at Han Jingnian suspiciously for a short while, then responded again with another "Oh".
Han Jingnian looked downward, hiding his disappointed eyes, and continued towards the door with his suitcase.
But as he had not gone more than a few steps, Xia Wan’an couldn’t help but blurt out, "Um..."
Han Jingnian stopped abruptly, a hidden light in his eyes as he looked back at Xia Wan’an, "Hm?"
After examining Han Jingnian for a short while, Xia Wan’an finally asked, "Are you... okay?"
Thankfully, she was quick to react. Otherwise, she would’ve almost asked if he had a fever!
The light in Han Jingnian’s eyes dimmed instantly, "I’m fine."
"Oh." Xia Wan’an paused for a moment, then waved her hand at Han Jingnian, "Well, you should hurry off then."
Han Jingnian pressed his lips together, didn’t say anything, and left, pulling his suitcase behind him.
All the way downstairs, his phone in the pocket was ringing non-stop. He knew that it was Zhang Te urging him to hurry, so he didn’t pick up the call.
When he arrived at the underground parking lot, the frantic Zhang Te, who had almost rushed upstairs to find him, wiped his sweat in relief, "President Han, if you hadn’t come down now, we would’ve missed the flight..."
Zhang Te was still mid-sentence when he noticed the suitcase in Han Jingnian’s hand and blurted out in surprise, "President Han, didn’t you already have me pack your luggage in the trunk beforehand? Why do you have another suitcase?"
Something in Zhang Te’s words seemed to hit a sensitive spot for Han Jingnian, his cold demeanor turned even colder.
He didn’t glance at Zhang Te, put the suitcase down in front of him, and got straight into the car, slamming the door shut with a loud noise.
What’s going on here? Before going upstairs, he seemed in a pretty good mood. How did it change as soon as he came downstairs?
Zhang Te urgently wanted to know what happened, but he dared not poke around too much. To avoid stepping on a mine, he lowered his presence as much as possible, his eyes on the road, driving furiously towards the airport.
...
After her shower and skincare routine, Xia Wan’an lay in bed, the more she thought about Han Jingnian’s behavior tonight, the stranger it seemed.
After pinching herself several times to confirm that she wasn’t dreaming, she couldn’t help picking up her phone and sent a message to Zhang Te.
"Zhang Te, did you find Han Jingnian acting strange today?"
"I think he might have a fever. Could you perhaps take his temperature?"
