Chapter 83: Chapter 83: Far in the Horizon, Close at Hand (1)_1

Han Jingnian didn’t speak, he sat straightly on the couch, staring intently at Han Zhijin’s mobile phone.

Completely immersed in the game, Han Zhijin didn’t feel the impending doom. He even continued to play recklessly, "Wan’an, hide here and don’t move, wait a sec, three, two, one, see? Little Luban is here, come on hit..."

Before Han Zhijin could finish his sentence, Han Jingnian’s cold voice came again, "Han Zhijin, where were you last Wednesday at three in the afternoon?"

"At the office..." Han Zhijin replied before poking the screen to continue his conversation, "How about that? Wan’an, are you happy? I got another kill for you..."

Xia Wan’an opened her mouth about to reply to Han Zhijin, when Han Jingnian, who was sitting next to her, carelessly interjected, "Oh, really? When I was on the phone with Manager Chen from WY today, he said he seemed to have seen you at the South Suburb golf course at three o’clock last Wednesday afternoon..."

"Wasn’t he supposed to be working last Wednesday afternoon?" The grandmother chimed in.

"Han Zhijin?" Lu Yangui also spoke, her tone was gentle, but there was an unspoken threat in her voice.

Han Zhijin’s hand shook, and he subconsciously exited the game, looking at Han Jingnian for help, "Uncle, Manager Chen must have mistaken, didn’t he?"

Han Jingnian didn’t say anything.

"Er..." Han Zhijin slapped his forehead and then said, "I remember now, Uncle, that project plan was due this week, which was mentioned last week! The plan is on my computer. Wait for me, I’ll get it right now..."

Saying this, Han Zhijin abandoned Xia Wan’an who was still waiting for his protection in the game, grabbed his laptop, got up and rushed to his study room, reminding again on his way, "Uncle, last Wednesday, Manager Chen must have been mistaken!"

Watching his fleeing nephew, Han Jingnian slowly picked up his mobile phone and glanced at the unread messages, and then said unhurriedly, "Well, Manager Chen did mention that the person looked very much like you."

Liu Yangui’s face finally softened.

Seeing that it was just a misunderstanding, the grandmother turned her attention back to the TV.

Han Jingnian glanced at Xia Wan’an who was left playing the game alone, muttered "I’m going to check the study", and then got up and left.

...

Study room.

Han Jingnian sat in front of the computer, staring at the project plan Han Zhijin pulled up, expressionless.

Han Zhijin stood by like a punished schoolboy with his head hanging down and waiting.

Twenty minutes later, Han Jingnian spoke, "Redo it!"

Han Zhijin was dumbfounded, "Uncle, I think my plan could be salvaged with some revisions."

"If you can’t finish it, you don’t have to eat dinner tonight!" Han Jingnian said dismissively. He pushed his mouse away, got up with an intention to leave.

Han Zhijin wasn’t ready to give up. He whimpered, "Uncle..."

"If you say one more word, I’ll tell your mom how you skipped work to drink with your friends last Friday afternoon!"

Han Zhijin grimaced, hung his head, and said with grievance, "I know, I’ll redo it, okay?"

Han Jingnian ignored him and straightened his clothes, heading out of the study room.

Just as he reached the door, the door was opened by Xia Wan’an.

PS: Is it just me or do Han Jingnian and Han Zhijin seem to give off couple vibes? Oh no, it’s just my imagination! See you in the next Chapter~
