Chapter 779: Chapter 779 Mr. Han Loves Mrs. Han (1)_1
As the door opened, a "meow" echoed through the room. A shadow flashed by and then a fluffy, white pet adorably leaped onto the shoe rack...
Xia Wan’an turned to see the source of the noise - Little Mirror, who had grown considerably, was propping itself up on its forelegs, staring at her with large eyes as blue as sapphires, tilting its head as it sized her up.
At just one glance, Xia Wan’an’s heart completely melted.
She locked eyes with Little Mirror for a while, then Little Mirror let out a couple of "meow" sounds, and elegantly advanced towards Xia Wan’an, its paws gently stepping on the shoe rack.
When it reached the edge of the shoe rack, Little Mirror paused. It tilted its head back, blinked, and studied Xia Wan’an for a bit before letting out another "meow". It sounded almost like a call. Then, without warning, it propelled itself onto Xia Wan’an’s shoulder with its front legs. It rubbed her neck with its soft face and even stuck out its tiny pink tongue to lick her face.
The ticklish sensation made Xia Wan’an instinctively reach out to scratch Little Mirror’s head.
Little Mirror let out a content "meow" and pressed its chubby body even more tightly against her neck.
Xia Wan’an’s hand naturally landed on Little Mirror’s body, her fingertips sinking into its thick fur as she rubbed its body firmly.
The yielding sensation under her fingertips helped Xia Wan’an quickly realize that Little Mirror had gained considerably more weight since the last time she had cared for it... Its fur was even glossier and softer, evidence that it had been taken good care of... cared for by whom exactly? Could it be by Han Jingnian?
With that sudden question crossing her mind, Xia Wan’an finally raised her gaze towards Han Jingnian.
At some point, the man had changed into slippers and was standing under the bright light of the entryway, watching her and Little Mirror intently.
Instead of saying that Han Jingnian was watching, it would be more accurate to say that he was scrutineering.
Had Han Jingnian not dismissed his suspicions about her even after his secretary had taken a picture of her back?
Just as she thought, it was her mistake. Had he dismissed his suspicions, according to Han Jingnian’s manner of dealing with things, there would have been no way for him to assist her at the auction in bidding for Ai Jiang’s works when she didn’t participate; there would have been no way he would have restrained Han Zhijin when he caused mayhem... and he certainly wouldn’t have followed her here with such a melodramatic reminder of their coffee date on the top floor of the Four Seasons Hotel after she had left.
With that said, was it possible that Han Jingnian’s so-called urgent documents were fake, and his true intention was to get her to come over to his house?
She had been momentarily dazzled by Little Mirror’s adorability, completely sidetracking her thoughts. Could it be that Han Jingnian had detected something wrong when he had been staring at her?
Preoccupied with these thoughts, Xia Wan’an discreetly assessed Han Jingnian’s expression.
The man’s face was inscrutable. His handsome countenance was as still as a statue, revealing no discernible emotion. His pitch-black, deep eyes were difficult to read, hiding what he was truly thinking...
Because she couldn’t figure out what he was thinking, her heart palpitated abruptly. Her mind raced as she feigned ignorance, making it appear as though she really liked Little Mirror. She finally spoke up, "This cat is so cute! What’s its name?"
