Chapter 761: Chapter 761: Trapped (1)_1
Xia Wan’an watched Han Jingnian repeatedly dispense hand sanitizer, washing his hands over and over. In her eyes, there was a glimpse of nostalgia and melancholy.
He was just like the way he used to be, refusing to let any stranger touch him...
Suddenly, Han Jingnian lifted his head and looked towards Xia Wan’an through the mirror.
Seeing Han Jingnian’s subtle movement, the calmness returned to Xia Wan’an’s eyes immediately.
As she inadvertently met Han Jingnian’s gaze, after struggling a bit, Xia Wan’an finally broke the silence and muttered, "Thank you."
Han Jingnian, reflected in the mirror, held her gaze but did not respond.
His eyes were aloof and evasive, seeming like he could peer into the deepest corners of one’s heart.
Xia Wan’an felt anxious under his gaze, fearing that she would slip and Han Jingnian would recognize who she was. She glanced at the women’s restroom and said to Han Jingnian again, "Um, Mister Han, I am going to the restroom."
After saying this, Xia Wan’an paused for two seconds. Seeing Han Jingnian had no reaction, she quickly made her way towards the women’s restroom.
Just as she reached the restroom door, and before she could push it open, Han Jingnian’s calm voice rang out over the sound of running water, "Miss Xia, don’t you owe me one more thank you?"
Hearing this, Xia Wan’an was taken aback. She wasn’t quite sure what Han Jingnian meant by this and turned to look at him.
Han Jingnian had just finished washing his hands. He switched off the tap, pulled a paper towel from the dispenser by the sink, slowly drying his hands.
His movements were elegant and unhurried, visually appealing to watch.
After drying his hands, he chucked the paper into a nearby bin, adjusted his attire, and then slowly met Xia Wan’an’s gaze. Seeing the confusion in her eyes, he moved his eyes downward towards the dress she was wearing.
Xia Wan’an, following his gaze, looked down at her dress and realization dawned on her.
He was insinuating that he had arranged for her dress, and she hadn’t thanked him yet...
With that realization, Xia Wan’an spoke out, "I had my assistant... thank you on my behalf..."
"Is your assistant me?" Han Jingnian interrupted before Xia Wan’an could finish her sentence.
Xia Wan’an was at a loss for words, not sure how to respond.
"Miss Xia’s gratitude doesn’t seem very sincere..."
The bastard deliberately ruined her dress to test her. Now he’s playing the victim, accusing her of not showing sincerity... Was it all because she didn’t thank him in person and only had Zhang Te convey her thanks? Was it really necessary?
Suppressing the urge to hit him square in the face, Xia Wan’an gave Han Jingnian a forced smile, "Mister Han, it was my oversight. Anyway, thank you for the dress."
"You’re welcome." Han Jingnian accepted Xia Wan’an’s gratitude graciously.
Looking at Han Jingnian’s self-entitled attitude, Xia Wan’an wished she could punch his complacent face. However, she took a deep breath and with a forced smile, pointed towards the restroom, "If you’ll excuse me, Mister Han, would it be alright if I went in now?"
"Miss Xia, you’ve said thank you to me twice tonight. That means I have helped you quite a lot, haven’t I?"
Xia Wan’an, who had been about to enter the restroom, heard this and realized... she had fallen into Han Jingnian’s trap.
