Chapter 706: Chapter 706: As Long as You Say it, I Will Believe (2)_1
Xia Wan’an subconsciously took a half step back, ready to leave and find her own room, but before she could turn around and take a step, the door in front of her was suddenly opened...Hearing the sound, Xia Wan’an instinctively lifted her head to look forward.
A face that could set the world on its head abruptly entered her sight without any warning.
The man in front of her gave off an atmosphere she was all too familiar with — one of aloofness and coldness. A man with a tall and slim body, exquisite features, and although he was merely dressed in a thin casual outfit, he couldn’t hide the sense of nobility that exuded from his very bones.
Xia Wan’an didn’t expect to meet him in such a way as soon as she returned to the country.
Just a few days ago, she had seen him in the United Kingdom, yet this encounter had still profoundly shocked Xia Wan’an.
Her heart was beating fiercely. Even though she had changed her face and identity, she remained rooted on the spot, afraid to make a sound. She was scared...scared that she would accidentally give herself away.
Han Jingnian, hearing the continuous knocking at the door, decided to check out what was going on. When he swung the door open to find a heavily made-up woman standing outside, his first reaction was to knit his brows, unable to hide his displeasure and disgust.
Without intending to speak to the woman standing outside, he was about to shut the door. But as he moved, his gaze inadvertently swept over her eyes...with brown pupils, but still, his eyes paused on hers.
Han Jingnian’s straightforward gaze made Xia Wan’an’s heartbeat even faster, making her increasingly nervous.
Unable to help herself, she clenched her hands into fists and dug her nails into her palm in an effort to suppress the emotions swirling in her chest. Then, forcing a small lift to the corners of her lips, she presented Han Jingnian with a very polite and official smile. She lowered her voice as though she was speaking to a stranger, softly saying, "I’m sorry, sir, I entered the wrong room."
Because she had done so on purpose her voice sounded slightly difference from her real one.
Han Jingnian slightly frowned, his gaze fixating on Xia Wan’an with no sign of retreating.
Without any expression on his face, it was very hard to figure out what he was thinking.
His uninterrupted gaze made Xia Wan’an feel somewhat guilty.
Xia Wan’an slightly lowered her eyelids, then pretending her purse strap had slipped, she reached up and adjusted it. Then, pretending she hadn’t gotten a good grip, she accidentally dropped the passport and room card she was holding onto the ground.
Xia Wan’an instinctively bent down to pick them up, but before her hands could touch their contents, Han Jingnian’s slender and clean fingertips picked up her passport first.
While picking up her room card, Xia Wan’an clearly noticed that Han Jingnian had casually flipped open her passport and glanced at her passport information.
Han Jingnian remained silent. After standing upright, he handed her the passport.
With easy grace, Xia Wan’an reached out and took the passport. Giving a little bow, she said, "Thank you," then, pulling her suitcase, she turned and left.
