Chapter 57: Chapter 57 Has Han Zhijin Returned Home? (1)_1

The meal had been cooked and laid out on the table for half an hour, yet Han Jingnian hadn’t moved his chopsticks, frozen like a sculpture.

A servant standing nearby couldn’t stand it anymore, she walked over and gently reminded him, "Mr. Han, if you don’t start eating soon, your food will get cold."

Without uttering a word, Han Jingnian cast a light glance at the servant.

His gaze, as cold as ice, emitted a chilling light that was absolutely frightening.

His intense aura was too imposing, a mere look was enough to send shivers up the servant’s spine, filling her heart with terror.

The servant nearly buckled at the knees and fell to the ground; she didn’t dare utter another word and skidaddled from the dining room as if she was fleeing for her life.

Observing the scenario, the rest of the servants comprehended the situation and quietly kept their heads down, clinging to the wall, and deserted the dining room.

Before long, the already quiet dining room was left with only Han Jingnian.

Sitting still in his chair, in front of a table full of dishes, he showed no signs of picking up his chopsticks.

Then a half-hour went by...

Then an hour...

Then three hours...

The grandfather clock in the living room chimed eleven times, indicating it was eleven o’clock at night.

Han Jingnian, sitting at the dining table, twitched slightly at the last chime, finally showing some reaction.

He slowly turned his head and glanced at the clock on the wall.

It was eleven o’clock...

Han Zhijin hadn’t returned yet, which meant... their dinner was still not over?

Jingnian, who was always able to keep his composure, felt out of sorts, and cried, "Someone!"

In the room at the farthest corner of the living room, the servants who huddled together exchanged glances at Han Jingnian’s call, their faces resembling frightened rabbits, no one dared to step out.

The atmosphere of the whole villa became even more eerie and unnerving.

The servants exchanged apprehensive glances, then decided to play rock-paper-scissors to decide who would speak. The loser, with teary eyes, slowly and hesitantly approached the dining room entrance, and then squeaked out from a distance of five meters from Han Jingnian, "Mr. Han, may I assist you with something?"

Han Jingnian’s voice, though mild, was filled with unspeakable anger and intent to kill, "Call Han Zhijin, ask him when he is coming home."

"Yes, yes..." After receiving Han Jingnian’s instructions, the servant dashed to the telephone in the living room, as if she was running a hundred-meter race, and called Han Zhijin.

After hanging up, the servant shuffled back to the entrance of the dining room and said, "Young Master Zhijin said it’s early, he just got to the KTV, it’s not even lively yet, it’s, it’s, it’s..."

Feeling the air pressure in the dining hall drop to an all-time low, the servant didn’t finish her sentence, and ran off once again.

The whole villa was frozen over with intense tension, cold, and bloodcurdling aura.

The grandfather clock in the living room chimed twelve times, and Han Jingnian ordered, "Call Han Zhijin again!"

The servant, trembling, dialed Han Zhijin’s number again.

After hanging up, she returned to the entrance of the dining room, standing as far away from Han Jingnian as possible, and reported, "Young Master Zhijin said he is singing with the lady and asked me not to disturb him and hung up the phone before I could say anything..."
