Chapter 466: Chapter 466: President Han, I’ve Been Waiting for You for a Long Time (2)_1
The ticket for Zhang Te’s mother was held by the boarding pass checker, deliberately not scanning it immediately.
Zhang Te knew that the mastermind was doing this to ensure that they secured "Han Jingnian" before letting his mother go.
Without hesitation, Zhang Te stepped into the bar. The moment the automatic door closed behind him, he saw on his phone screen that his mother had received the checked ticket and was boarding the plane.
His mother was merely a tool to threaten him in the eyes of the mastermind. Neither he nor his mother mattered to them - what mattered was Han Jingnian. Now that they thought they had "Han Jingnian", they naturally wouldn’t continue to trouble his mother. On a plane filled with passengers, no one would dare to act rashly. And once his mother reached their domestic airport, the people he arranged would pick her up... Either way, his mother was at least safe now.
Loyalty and duty to family could not coexist. He couldn’t betray Han Jingnian any more than he could abandon his mother... So when faced with this difficult choice, there was only one path he could take: sacrifice himself.
As Zhang Te stepped into the bar, a server immediately greeted him and ushered him to a seat in clumsy English.
The bar was open all night but there weren’t many patrons. At the only occupied table, several men sat who seemed to be from different countries—Europeans, Africans, black people... even one Eastern face with a goatee.
Some were shirtless, revealing aggressive tattoos, some were puffing on a hefty cigar. They were all seated at the same table but none of them were interacting with each other.
However, the moment Zhang Te took a seat, all their gazes drifted instantly towards him...
Zhang Te guessed that the bar was probably closed to the public tonight, and these men were probably desperados, possibly even internationally wanted criminals. If his guess was correct, they were the people the mastermind had dug deep into their pockets to hire to deal with Han Jingnian.
In response to the server’s greeting, Zhang Te calmly ordered his favourite whiskey, holding it in the palm of his hand, placidly swirling the glass, and stealthily assessing those men.
They were all built, probably trained. One of them had particularly sturdy shoulders, likely a boxer...
As Zhang Te was pondering, the bar background music suddenly ceased, followed by a mechanically familiar voice: "Mr. Han, we’ve been waiting for you."
Jolted, Zhang Te glanced around hastily, only to realize that at some point, the bartender and server had left the bar.
Left in the dimly lit bar were only him and those men.
"Mr. Han, I bet you never thought that Zhang Te, whom you trusted the most, would personally send you to the Ghost Gate, did you?"
The mechanical voice echoed again in Zhang Te’s ears. Only then did he realize the speaker wasn’t even in the bar – his voice was coming from the bar’s sound system.
As the mysterious man’s speech ended, one by one, those men started to get up and move towards Zhang Te.
