The words of Zhang Te’s assistant were both polite and appropriate. Not to mention, Chi Yao had already made his position clear. With a spread of food and drinks before them, and assuming no harm would come to their personal safety, no one wanted to create a quarrel and tarnish the past two hours of congeniality. So everyone tacitly agreed to stay.

Two hours were neither too long nor too quick. Around 11:15 pm, Zhang Te’s assistant got a call.

Though no one knew what was spoken on the other end of the line, the assistant replied, "Bring them in," then hung up.

Zhang Te’s assistant spoke softly into the phone, but given everyone’s curiosity about what Han Jingnian was up to, some people noticed his phone call. They abruptly stopped drinking and focused all their attention on him. When the others saw the reactions, they also gradually shifted their focus to Han Jingnian’s side.

Not long after the assistant hung up, several people entered the courtyard of the Chi Family’s residence.

"Let me introduce you all, this person, this one, and this one, are our Han Family’s employees from Hong Kong... as for these two; one is a server from the Four Seasons Hotel in Hong Kong, the other is the hotel’s on-call doctor..."

"A doctor? A server? Why bring them here?"

"I can’t figure it out..."

Again the room was filled with a flurry of talk.

Zhang Te’s assistant didn’t hurry his speech. He glanced at Chi Mu, whose expression was clearly panicking and anxious.

Zhang Te looked amused but quickly turned back to address the guests: "The reason we have gone to the effort of bringing these two all the way from Hong Kong to Beijing is not merely for a visit. I’d suggest everyone hear what they have to say."

Zhang Te then smiled, first at the doctor then at the server, and asked, "Who wants to go first?"

The two exchanged uncomfortable glances but said nothing.

"How about we draw straws? Or rock-paper-scissors?" Zhang Te said, laughing at his jokes. He then turned to the server: "Never mind. No need to make it complicated. You go first..."

The server, who had been pointed out, looked down. As she lifted her head, she met the gaze of Ai Jiang and Chi Mu. Instinctively dropping her eyes, she clenched her uniform tightly before finally pointing at Chi Mu and said, "It was her. She arranged everything!"
