Chapter 393: Chapter 393: Hug~ (1)_1
"Huh?" Xia Wan’an was left momentarily bewildered by Han Jingnian’s question, then after a while, she moved her lips again: "It’s not like it’s a big deal..."
Han Jingnian’s eyes were chilled like they were covered in a sheet of ice, and his voice was filled with frostiness and anger, "Why didn’t you call me?"
Startled by Han Jingnian’s sudden change of face, Xia Wan’an instinctively shivered and stepped back slightly, away from his grip.
Xia Wan’an tucked her lips, and then said with a voice that was far less cheerful and more reserved than just now, "You, you were in America..."
Han Jingnian did not speak. He stared intensely at Xia Wan’an’s sprained ankle.
He didn’t know if he was angry at her or at himself. His lips were tightly closed.
The atmosphere in the room had clearly grown tense. As Xia Wan’an wondered if she should speak up, Han Jingnian suddenly stood and swooped her into his arms.
Xia Wan’an was startled once again, her body jerking in surprise. By the time she managed to look up at Han Jingnian’s face, he was already carrying her into the bedroom and had thrown her onto the bed.
Although his strength was moderate and the bed was soft and thick, Xia Wan’an felt dizzy for a few seconds. By the time she managed to sit up, Han Jingnian had already left the bedroom.
Just as Xia Wan’an was about to call out to Han Jingnian, she heard the sound of a door closing.
It was the sound of the hotel room door slamming shut... Had Han Jingnian left in anger?
Xia Wan’an pursed her lips and lay back on the bed.
After a while, she rolled over on the bed, grabbed her phone, and hovered over Han Jingnian’s contact. After some hesitation, she retracted her hand and dropped her phone back on the bed.
Why should she call him? She had done nothing wrong!
Thinking this, Xia Wan’an flipped onto her other side, grabbed a pillow, and began fiercely kneading it, imagining it was Han Jingnian.
After about three minutes, she put down the pillow and picked up her phone again. This time she opened a chat with Zhang Te. She vacillated for a while, and had just started to type a message asking whether Han Jingnian was with him, when she heard the door creak open and footsteps approaching.
Subconsciously
. She quickly turned her head towards the door. After about ten seconds, Han Jingnian appeared at the door, holding a small bag. He made eye contact with Xia Wan’an but didn’t speak. His face remained grim.
Neither of them spoke.
Han Jingnian sat on the edge of the bed where her foot lay, tong a small medicine bottle out of the bag. He opened the lid, poured the liquid onto his palm, warmed it, then gently applied it onto Xia Wan’an’s swollen ankle and began to gently massage it.
Seeing him do make all these movements, Xia Wan’an was stunned.
He had left angrily just now, not because he was mad, but because he was gonna buy medicine for her?
No, he was angry, but because... she’d hurt herself and hadn’t called him right away?
Xia Wan’an stared at Han Jingnian’s face for a while, then at his hand gently massaging her ankle, and her heart began to pound uncontrollably.
About twenty minutes later, when Han Jingnian saw that most of the medication had been absorbed into Xia Wan’an’s ankle, he stood up and walked to the bathroom.
When he emerged after washing his hands, his face was still clouded in gloom.
Although he hadn’t stormed off again, he didn’t show any intention of speaking to Xia Wan’an either.
The room was absolutely quiet, so quiet that Xia Wan’an could sense the lingering warmth on her ankle from his palm.
Xia Wan’an glanced at Han Jingnian from time to time. Seeing Han Jingnian standing by the floor-to-ceiling window, his face impassive, she bit her lower lip, wondering if she should cheer him up. Besides, he was sulking because she was hurt...
