Chapter 335: Chapter 335 This Damn Survival Instinct (1)_1
Xia Wan’an’s hands trembled in shock, her ears inexplicably hot upon seeing Han Jingnian.Caught red-handed gossiping about someone, how embarrassing!
But Han Jingnian held a calm demeanor, showing no hint of annoyance. After approaching Xia Wan’an, he spoke again, "Miss Chi and I are not close."
Without thinking much, Xia Wan’an blurted out, "You may not be close, but Miss Chi almost married you."
"She could never be my bride, no matter whom I married, it could never be her." Han Jingnian’s eyes grew cold as he stated this, expressing a strong distaste towards Chi Mu.
Without any second thought, Xia Wan’an had spoken what lay deep within her heart. She had initially felt anxious, fearing that her words had overstepped a line. But upon hearing Han Jingnian’s response, a smile peeked from the depths of her heart.
So, to Han Jingnian... Chi Mu was just a dispensable existence.
Xia Wan’an masked her emotions well. Seeing her silent, Han Jingnian mistakenly thought she was upset. He carefully glanced at her before speaking again, "Of course, I’m not going to marry just anyone, I have high standards."
The statement almost caused Xie Lin, who was following behind Jingnian, to trip and fall.
Zhang Te, who stood to the side, felt as if his boss had lost face: Damn survival instincts!
Does his ’high standards’ indirectly praise me?
Xia Wan’an swirled her eyes, controlling the laughter that formed in her lips and pretended not to comprehend, responding with a simple "oh".
"Ahem," Xie Lin cleared his throat appropriately, breaking the indoor silence, "Madam, I have a question. Do you often feel a chill in your hands, feet, and lower back?"
Xia Wan’an earnestly nodded to confirm, admitting that even in summertime, her feet never felt warm.
"Madam, your constitution leans cold, if I’m not wrong, your menstrual cycle must not be regular. I have prescribed some medication for you. Please take it on time, once in the morning and once at night."
Xia Wan’an responded with a couple of understanding ’ohs’ and thanked him.
Leaving the hospital and returning to her garden estate, it was almost 11 o’clock at night.
After saying her goodbyes to Han Jingnian and Zhang Te, she carried her cat with one hand, and a large bag of medication prescribed by Xie Lin in the other, heading into her own villa.
Once the light in her room was turned on, Zhang Te started the car. As he drove out of the villa where Xia Wan’an resided, through the rear-view mirror, he noticed Han Jingnian’s face appeared terribly gloomy.
Zhang Te immediately turned off the music in his car, "Mr. Han, was there something wrong with Madam’s medical results from Dr. Xie?"
Han Jingnian slightly nodded.
He remained silent, but Zhang Te could clearly sense his emotional fluctuation—a mix of anger and concern.
"So, Mr. Han, even though we had previously communicated with the old lady, she took an opportunity to vent her anger and replaced all the servants in the house to avoid startling the snake. But today, when Madam went to eat at the old house, was she drugged again?"
"Yes..." Han Jingnian remained silent for a while before uttering a question that confounded him: "... all the food she ate, I also consumed, but, there was no drug residue in my body, while her body does."
Zhang Te was also perplexed, "Could the problem not originate from the old house? It doesn’t seem right..."
