Chapter 327: Chapter 327: Capital City’s Number One Swan (1)_1
"Alright, I’m sorry, I’ve lewd it up. But at this rate, I won’t be able to face myself in the mirror!"
"Who’s to blame then?!"
"Haha, blame me, blame me. By the way, is your family’s cat male or female? Quickly pair them up with our little Tissue ..."
"Um ...." Xia Wan’an just noticed the gender of the kitten in her arms, then replied: "...I’m sorry to disappoint you, but my Little Mirror is also a sister."
"Then let them both be lace buddies ..."
And so, the two of them rambled on with their chatter about the two kittens before ending the call.
Xia Wan’an went to the kitchen for a bowl of porridge, and as she sat at the table and was about to take a sip, her cellphone screen lit up again, with a WeChat message from Song Youman: "An’an, you are not only having a love, but also me. No matter when it is, you will never be alone. If Han Jingnian ever breaks your wing one day, I will ruin his paradise. No one can hurt you as long as I am there."
...
Monday night was the regular family dinner at the old house.
Having missed her visits to the old house due to hospitalization and an argument with Han Jingnian in the past month, Xia Wan’an left the company by five o’clock this week and headed straight to the old house.
On her way to the old house, Xia Wan’an instructed the taxi driver to pass by the mansion Han Jingnian had transferred to her, where she picked up Little Mirror.
It was just past half past five when she arrived at the old house. Unfortunately, the elder sister-in-law had taken the grandmother to the nearby supermarket.
What surprised Xia Wan’an was that all the domestic workers in the old house had been replaced, except for Zhang Ma.
Having changed her slippers and sat down on the couch, Xia Wan’an played with Little Mirror, until Zhang Ma brought her some fruits and black tea. She then curiously asked, "Why have all the servants in the old house been replaced?"
Zhang Ma, smiling, added a little milk to Xia Wan’an’s black tea as per her preferences, before replying softly: "It was the old lady’s idea. She felt that the previous servants got lazy from being here too long, so she fired all of them and replaced them with new ones."
Xia Wan’an nodded and said, "Oh," while she casually petted Little Mirror’s head.
After a while, she asked again, "Did something happen?"
Zhang Ma shook her head: "No, it’s just that the old lady wasn’t feeling well that day and was in a bad mood. When she saw that the afternoon tea was not prepared, she flew into a rage and decided to fire all the servants."
Xia Wan’an just nodded, "Oh, oh," and believed it.
Seeing that Xia Wan’an had no more questions, Zhang Ma said, "Madam, if there’s anything else you need, just call me," before leaving to prepare dinner in the kitchen.
With the grandmother and sister-in-law nowhere in sight, a slightly bored Xia Wan’an got up, carrying Little Mirror, to take a walk around the yard.
When she reached to the backyard, Little Mirror suddenly jumped out of her arms and disappeared in a flash.
Calling out for "Little Mirror," Xia Wan’an followed in the direction it had run off, and found herself in front of a small villa at the back of the old house.
Through the fence, she saw Little Mirror squatting on a stone table in the courtyard.
Xia Wan’an called out, "Anyone home?" several times, and when no response came, she went into the yard, picked up Little Mirror, and was just about to turn around and leave when the door of the small villa suddenly opened behind her.
