Chapter 269: Chapter 269: The Blood-soaked God of War (1)_1
Before Xia Wan’an had a chance to gather her wits, Han Jingnian lashed out with another vicious kick, aimed at the shorter man’s lower body.
"Ahhhhhhh——"
The short man let out a pig-like squeal, clutching his crotch, and writhing on the ground.
Seeing this, Xia Wan’an unconsciously sat up.
Did Han Jingnian suddenly lash out in violence because of the vulgar things that short man had been saying about her?
The taller man had shaken off his surprise from the sudden attack, and cursing profanities, advanced on Han Jingnian.
Xia Wan’an wasn’t clear about what Han Jingnian had exactly done, but she saw him sidestep and the next moment, the taller man was sprawling on the ground as well.
Han Jingnian’s moves were both vicious and precise, giving the taller man no chance to retaliate whatsoever. He kicked him ruthlessly in his vital parts and, with a sharp scream, he started writhing and howling on the ground just like the shorter man.
It wasn’t until then that Xia Wan’an hurriedly crawled up from the ground and dashed towards Han Jingnian.
Upon seeing her approach, Han Jingnian’s icy, blade-like eyes switched back to their typical depth of indifference.
Stopping in front of Han Jingnian, Xia Wan’an was about to ask him if he was okay when she abruptly stopped, her gaze fixed on something behind him, her complexion changing.
Perhaps the commotion just now had attracted the attention of the other men.
In the blink of an eye, over a dozen intimidating, burly men gathered outside the door. They were armed with steel pipes or wooden sticks.
Spotting her odd expression, Han Jingnian asked in a low voice, "What’s wrong?"
Seeing that Xia Wan’an didn’t respond, he looked behind towards the direction she was staring at.
Spotting the approaching mob, his expression remained calm. There was no hint of fear or panic in his demeanor.
This...this felt too surreal, like a scene straight out of a Hong Kong and Taiwan gangster movie... People might mistake it for a film shooting.
After recovering from her initial shock, Xia Wan’an turned her gaze back to Han Jingnian.
Even though the man’s hair and clothes were a mess, it couldn’t conceal the innate elegance and dignity that clung to him.
He looked at the crowd with a detached gaze, as if those people were of no concern to him.
Seeing him so composed, Xia Wan’an remembered his swift actions from before and somehow, felt herself calming down: "Han Jingnian, you can take on all of them, right?"
Han Jingnian looked at her with surprise: "Have you been reading too many martial arts novels?"
Xia Wan’an was flustered by his response. It took her a few seconds to shake her head.
"Since you haven’t read too many, then why do you ask me such a thing? There are over a dozen of them, and they’re all armed. How could I possibly beat them all?"
Xia Wan’an: "......"
Damn! If he can’t beat them, why does he look so relaxed, like nothing’s wrong? Is it really okay to act so nonchalant when life is on the line?!
While they were conversing, an attacker had already charged at them.
Han Jingnian instinctively pushed Xia Wan’an behind him. He swiftly kicked the charging attacker hand off his weapon. He then caught it quickly, using it to block the second man’s incoming attack.
The series of movements were fluid and occurred within the blink of an eye, causing Xia Wan’an’s heartbeat to race.
It was evident that Han Jingnian had undergone some form of training; he was a formidable fighter. But like he said, this wasn’t a martial arts novel. No matter how strong he was, there was no way he could take on over a dozen men alone. And with her around, it was even more challenging.
