Chapter 193: Chapter 193: There’s Quite a Lot of Flu Recently (1)_1

As Xia Wan’an opened the bathroom door whilst singing, she noticed an unexpected figure in the bedroom, startling her such that she almost dropped the towel wrapped around her body.

She stared at the figure in front of her in absolute terror for a while before coming to her senses.

Han Jingnian... Didn’t he go on a business trip? Wasn’t he supposed to be back next Friday?

Xia Wan’an thought she might be hallucinating, so she blinked fervently. But when she looked again, the person still stood there, staring back at her. She then realized it was indeed Han Jingnian.

Seeing Han Jingnian silently staring at her, she hoisted her towel up and ventured to ask, "Why did you come back?".

Han Jingnian remained silent, his gaze neither cold nor completely normal. It unsettled Xia Wan’an, who couldn’t decipher his emotions.

Xia Wan’an felt inappropriate standing like that, barely dressed. Pointing to the dressing room, she announced, "I’m going to get dressed." She then walked into the dressing room and closed the door, casually putting on a dress.

As she emerged from the dressing room, she registered Han Jingnian’s presence again.

He was still standing right where she’d left him, his posture and expression unaltered.

If this were a martial arts novel, she would have thought that he was immobilized by some secret pressure point...

While puzzling over this in her mind, Xia Wan’an strolled to the dressing table and started to dry her hair.

Halfway through, out of the corner of her eye, she noticed Han Jingnian was still standing in the same spot, like a statue.

However, his gaze had followed her from the bathroom door to the dressing table.

Was there something wrong with her appearance?

Unable to resist, Xia Wan’an looked at herself in the mirror, her reflection a snowy-white countenance. She grew even more puzzled.

Even though she had no makeup on, she looked just the same as she did at work.

Xia Wan’an felt uncomfortable under Han Jingnian’s scrutiny. She blurted out, "Why did you come back early? Weren’t you supposed to return next Friday?"

Han Jingnian ignored her.

Grumbling to herself, Xia Wan’an decided to keep quiet.

As she applied skincare products to her face, she told herself to ignore Han Jingnian, pretending he was completely absent from the room.

After finishing her skincare routine, Xia Wan’an wanted to settle down in the sunlit corner of the bedroom with her phone and order some takeout. But facing Han Jingnian’s unsettling stillness, she decided instead to head for the bedroom door with her phone.

She’d better order from the living room...

As she passed Han Jingnian, she stole a glance at him, noticing dark circles under his eyes and a slightly pale face, as if he had had a restless night.

Could it be that he’s sick?

Halfway to the door, Xia Wan’an hesitated before finally asking, "Are you not feeling well?"

Han Jingnian pressed his lips together without replying, but his gaze became more profound.

Xia Wan’an took a step back, pointed towards the nightstand, and stuttered, "Uh... there’s a thermometer in there. You should check your temperature. If you...if you really don’t feel well, you should call Dr. Xie. A lot of people have been getting the flu recently..."
