Chapter 115: Chapter 115: Not Just Passing By (1)_1
Xia Wan’an was startled. She blinked in disbelief, then his heart pounded rapidly when she confirmed that Han Jingnian’s complexion had actually improved.
Could her speculations just now be true?
One moment she said she wasn’t uncomfortable anymore, the very next moment his demeanor improved...
Xia Wan’an pursed her lips, gently reminding herself not to be overly sentimental while reflecting on the events of the night. She conceded that she owed him for his intervention, so she voiced her thanks, "Thanks for tonight."
In response to her gratitude, Han Jingnian didn’t react but instead asked something else, "Why did you decide to go to MIX tonight?"
Xia Wan’an assumed Han Jingnian was just asking casually, she answered without much thought, "Zhijin. He invites everyone out every Friday night."
Zhijin...
Han Jingnian quietly made a mental note of this, showing a cool indifference on his face as he responded with a hum.
Xia Wan’an asked in return, "And you?"
Han Jingnian looked at Xia Wan’an with a hint of confusion in his eyes.
"Why were you at MIX tonight?" She paused, then suggested a reason she assumed must be accurate, "Did you just happen to pass by? Quite..."
Before she could finish saying "coincidental", Han Jingnian cut her off, "I didn’t just happen to be there."
Not a passerby...What did he mean by that? Could he have gone there on purpose?
If it had been anyone else uttering these words, Xia Wan’an could confidently weave a thousand strands of thoughts out of it, but the person before her was Han Jingnian--a man who had thoroughly ignored her for two years.
Xia Wan’an mumbled a response, before changing the topic without waiting for Han Jingnian to speak, "Well, I’m going to change into my pajamas and get ready for bed."
Han Jingnian nodded, then stepped aside to let her pass.
Once Xia Wan’an had entered the dressing room, Han Jingnian stepped out of the bedroom.
He changed into clean clothes in the secondary bedroom, then proceeded to check his phone.
Zhang Te had made several calls to him. As he dialed Zhang Te back, he entered his study.
As he shut the door behind him, Zhang Te picked up the call.
"Mr. Han, the man has been sent to the police station. We also have his information. His name is He Che, 27 years old, a team leader at an IT company, with no known bad habits or any tarnishing history. How do you wish us to handle this?"
"Keep him detained for now." Han Jingnian seemed to have something more important to say. After giving a nonchalant response, he abruptly changed the subject, "Where is Zhijin?"
"Uh?" Zhang Te was taken aback and after a moment, he responded, "Young Master Zhijin? I’m not sure..."
"Find out."
"Yes." Thinking Han Jingnian was having a bout of familial concern and finally showing interest in his nephew, Zhang Te hurriedly hung up to trace Zhijin’s whereabouts.
Ten minutes later, Zhang Te called back.
"Mr. Han, Young Master Zhijin is still at MIX. He said he was planning on inviting his friends for late-night snacks in half an hour..."
As soon as Han Jingnian heard the word "invite," he unblinkingly commanded, "Freeze his bank accounts."
"Ah? Okay..." It turns out this wasn’t a moment of familial affection; this was a death sentence!
Zhang Te silently bit his lip in worry for Zhijin before proceeding: "I’ll get that taken care of..."
"Also, have several bodyguards go to MIX right now, bring him back to the old house. Make him face the wall in the study and reflect for 48 hours!"
