I Treat You as My Sister, But You Want to be My Wife?! -
Chapter 726: Complex
Chapter 726: Chapter 726: Complex
"Yes, I believe you." However, Zhang Tao had no intention of saying anything like "fine", he thought if people wanted to laugh at him, let them laugh. The urgent matter was to appease people’s feelings; everything else was secondary. Thus, he had no choice but to resign himself to pulling out his memo pad and started typing that content.
"I’m sorry, I lied to you just now and caused a misunderstanding. I actually ate directly at the office during lunch. I had plain steamed buns. I didn’t want you to have to eat plain steamed buns like me; they’re quite humble. That’s why I sent you that video. Oh, and that girl in the video is a colleague of mine, nothing more complicated than that."
"At that time, our department had just finished establishing the software framework, so we planned to go out and celebrate properly, enjoy a good meal. Otherwise, we had been simply eating something quick in the office and quickly wrapping up lunch."
"That time was the only exception. I thought of sending you a video of a nicer meal, partially to introduce you to something tasty, so that next time I could naturally... naturally invite you to join me. But I never expected that this would complicate things and lead to your misunderstanding. I am truly sorry about that."
"Moreover, I didn’t explain in time because I was with Shen Dong, discussing the software, so I missed the messages and lost the best chance to explain. I hope you can forgive me and give me another chance. I promise I will never deceive you again," he said quite proficiently when it came to explanations.
Zhang Tao typed out a long text, feeling that this draft was really well-written. Reading it wouldn’t make anyone think he was being perfunctory. Yes, it was very good. He was about to pick up his phone to call when, after a few beeps, he discovered that she was busy on another line. It seemed she had blocked him.
She had blocked his number outright. Zhang Tao felt like the sky was falling. "Is it really so? I have been blocked before I even had a chance to explain, I’ve actually been blacklisted. How could I be so unlucky?" he thought despairingly as he handed his phone to Shen Dong and said,
"I knew I shouldn’t have called so soon before thinking through the explanation. Now look, I don’t even have a number to call. Do I stand a chance anymore? I had many things planned out. Shen Dong, you have to help me. You know why I got blocked. If it weren’t for your initial call questioning her..."
"I wouldn’t have been blocked so quickly. Shen Dong was about to help, but when he heard Zhang Tao’s words, he became reluctant and said, "Don’t forget that it was you who desperately handed me your phone; otherwise, I wouldn’t have questioned her directly. In the end, it’s still because of you."
"Forget it, forget it. I won’t hold it against you considering how pitiful you look. I’ll help you out. I’ll lend you a random number, but whether she’ll answer depends on whether Tang Yuchan feels like it. Sometimes, Tang Yuchan can indeed be peculiar. When she’s in a bad mood, she doesn’t like answering calls, and calling too much might lead to being blocked outright."
"It turned out to be like this," Zhang Tao acknowledged, finding her character a bit odd, but since it was his mistake, he first needed to make amends. "You go ahead and borrow it; I don’t mind anything else as long as I can get through and she picks up," he hastily agreed.
Upon hearing this, Shen Dong casually summoned a waiter and briefly explained the situation. After mentioning the phone number, the waiter generously offered his own mobile phone. Shen Dong noted the number and, after rapidly typing, soon heard the ringing of the phone.
Tang Yuchan was truly agitated. "Why are they still calling? I’ve been outed by Shen Dong already, can’t I just not answer?" she thought. "Well, it might be an emergency, so I might as well answer." Forced by the circumstances, she picked up the phone and connected the call. The waiter was exceptionally helpful in this regard, aiding significantly.
Having sidestepped the issue, she let the caller swiftly resolve the situation. When Zhang Tao saw the call connect, he felt as if he had seen a lifesaver. He held the phone eagerly to his side and began with an apology and then rambled through his explanation, which bewildered Tang Yuchan. "What’s happening here?" she wondered.
But upon listening carefully, she could tell what the content was about; it seemed he was explaining himself. "Hmm," Tang Yuchan thought after listening, "I feel like I didn’t catch it because he was speaking too quickly." Zhang Tao was especially nervous because he feared that speaking too slowly might lead her to hang up, leaving him with no chance to explain.
He could only hasten his speech, trying to convey all the contents in the hopes that she could hear and understand his actions. Now that she couldn’t make out his words, she coughed and said,
"I didn’t catch your explanation just now. Could you explain it again, but slower this time? If I have misunderstood this situation, I will apologize to you. You can speak slower."
This statement lacked the rage of before, possessing a notably gentle and ordinary tone that made her realize the person on the other end had calmed down and wouldn’t be angry anymore. Relieved, she thought, "Alright, now I can discuss this matter more seriously without having to rush through it."
It was truly uncomfortable speaking so fast, especially since she had never undergone specific training for it. But she relaxed a bit and said, "So that’s how it is. I will now explain slowly, and I hope you will listen to me until the end and then decide whether or not to forgive me."
"Please don’t terminate the call halfway through. That would leave me quite helpless, as it took a lot of courage to make this call." After Zhang Tao finished, the person on the other end kindly hummed in acknowledgment.
Tang Yuchan had calmed down because she had roughly grasped the content of his explanation earlier. But whether to believe it was still up to her. She was now waiting for him to repeat himself so she could slowly analyze whether his words were true or
