Chapter 674: Chapter 674: Brainless

"All of you, back off from me now, do you want us all to be caught? Move it, there’s no escaping now. If only you had listened and we had all run in one direction, the police would never have found us,"

"But now, look what you’ve done, chasing after me! There’s no need to run anymore, stop! Even if we tried, it’s too late to escape,"

Number Two felt a sense of helplessness as he spoke these words, but there was really nothing that could be done except to wait. Shen Dong, standing above, couldn’t help but feel that the people below didn’t seem to be that foolish. How could they make such a basic mistake?

He shook his head and decided to find a safer place to go, but he had to take Lin Qi with him. It wouldn’t do to let Lin Qi get hurt at a time like this. The men still had guns, and in a fit of rage, they might endanger the lives of others. Hearing the noise outside, Shen Dong couldn’t help but slow his pace.

He presumed the police would be able to catch these men, but the safety of a few individuals had to be ensured in the process. Looking in Lin Qi’s direction, she was involuntarily looking back at him with a worried expression, seemingly concerned about the bar getting into trouble.

Shen Dong’s heart softened, feeling that he couldn’t just leave. Even with Lin Qi there, they might not be able to ensure her safety. They treated her like a pet, amusing themselves with her when they were happy and disregarding her when they were not, or maybe giving her something to distract her. If she were no longer needed, they’d just discard her without a second thought. He was not at ease leaving Lin Qi alone with those wealthy patrons; it was far too dangerous. After all, it seemed the best choice to get her out of there first.

The burly men in black knew they couldn’t run away and were trying to figure out a way to make a direct exit. They thought of taking a hostage, grabbing the nearest person, but unfortunately, one of the tables just happened to be right below where Shen Dong was; Lin Qi’s table. They selected a person from there.

The young masters only looked on as spectators, unaccustomed to such chaos, and were easily controlled. They found this group quite easy to manage and quickly moved over to them. Lin Qi also had an uneasy thought; she was bright and attractive, and someone had already wanted to take her away when she was upstairs, but didn’t have enough money on them.

However, now the opportunity presented itself. The leader of the group was the happiest, immediately gestured for Lin Qi to come over. Lin Qi shuddered with fright; it was just her luck to be targeted.

With so many people around, they had to choose her. The others stepped back, feeling like it was bad luck to be near her, blaming her for their table being selected. Instant regret washed over them, especially Zhang Xu who thought of the woman as a jinx.

Failing to ingratiate himself with her and now having attracted the attention of others, he decided he might as well hand her over to them, hoping they would spare him.

He had only been looking for some excitement, not trouble that could land on him. If his family elders were to find out he had been to such a place, he would surely be severely scolded. Moreover, if they knew he got involved in an incident affecting his safety, that would truly be disastrous. He might even be confined at home for several months and not allowed to go out and play, which would drive Zhang Xu crazy. He had finally adapted to the outside world, where could he return to suffer? In no way could he let his body be harmed if he wanted to remain free. So he decided not to bother about Lin Qi any longer. At first, he hesitated a little.

He hadn’t completely conquered this woman yet, and if they wanted money, he was still willing to give some. But now, that idea had withdrawn into the recesses of his mind, thinking better to avoid creating trouble. It’s better to step back where necessary.

There were plenty of women like her; no need to fuss over just one. And so, he silently handed Lin Qi over, and she was furious. How could everyone step back at this critical moment? Just moments ago, they were all sweet talk; turns out they’re only good for giving money. Luckily, she hadn’t put her hopes on them.

The sturdy men were very pleased with this group’s recognition of who held power. They even thought these rich kids might put up a fight against them, but if they did, they’d have no one else to blame for the consequences.

"Boss, if you like this woman, just take her and leave us out of it. We don’t have anything valuable on us, so please, boss, spare us. It’s just a small life; please don’t involve us, thank you, boss. Thank you."

Some of the more cowardly rich kids had begun to beg for mercy. Shen Dong, watching from above, was very dissatisfied with this scene. He had been thinking of going down to take Lin Qi away, but now there was no move to make, not knowing when the police would be able to come in. It was just too much of a hassle; this place still needed someone quite formidable to stay guard.

The deeply furrowed brow was enough to trap a couple of flies – he felt incredibly frustrated. Zhang Xu couldn’t say anything; he no longer had a say in the situation. The place was too dangerous, better to stay back and keep quiet. The men at the front looked excited, thinking that since they couldn’t escape, they might as well make the most of the hostages.

They even thought there might still be a chance to get out of here. Number Two, seeing that at such a critical moment, they weren’t trying harder to take more hostages but instead, were planning to toy with the girls,

felt incredibly angry. It was clear that none of them had anything serious on their minds, which is why they never succeeded. Their heads were void of any useful knowledge, always dragging him down. Number Two truly felt that next time he went on a mission, he should definitely not bring them along.
