Chapter 635: Chapter 635 Homecoming

Lin Qi was indeed shocked that the other party had actually agreed. She raised an eyebrow and stayed in the car, then spoke, "I thought you’d refuse or try to stop me, but you agreed so readily. If someone didn’t know any better, they’d think you really were going to take me for a freeloading meal and drink. Fine, since it’s to compensate you, I’ll reluctantly agree. I was just teasing you.

If you really need it, I wouldn’t mind bringing someone along. If I can eat your wallet dry and make myself happy in the process, I’d be very willing to do that." Lin Qi smiled and didn’t dwell on the matter anymore. Shen Dong glanced at the road; we were almost at the bar already, and it was getting very late.

"I’ll find you a hotel to stay in first. The rooms at that bar probably haven’t been cleaned yet. It’d be a waste of time for you to go there now. It’d be better to find a room and settle you in first. I’ll cover all the expenses for tonight. Later, when you have money, you can repay me properly, okay?"

Shen Dong thought that the most thorough solution would be booking a hotel for her. After all, going to the bar now, most people would have gone off to work, and there wouldn’t be anyone on watch. If this young lady blundered into someone else’s quarters and stirred up trouble, he wouldn’t be able to manage it.

Even if he wanted to, he wouldn’t be able to save this naive girl. Oh no, that’s not right; Lin Qi might look like an innocent bunny, but who knew she was actually a sly wolf in disguise, just wearing the skin of an innocent bunny. He had already witnessed just how strong a little bunny’s attack could be.

He shouldn’t worry about this little bunny’s safety; rather, he should be concerned about others. For some reason, at that moment, he suddenly remembered a woman, the one who had started the trouble at the beginning. Fortunately, he had later told her that they wouldn’t quarrel with his girlfriend anymore. Who could stand it if it happened every day?

Thinking of that scene, Shen Dong felt goosebumps all over. He hoped that situation would never happen again. If it did, there might come a day when he’d be driven to his wit’s end. While he was thinking this, Lin Qi nodded obediently without any objections and said:

"Then I’ll have to trouble you. I’m not particularly picky about my accommodation, just find any place will do. You don’t need to go through so much expense on my account. You’ve already spent quite a bit today, and if you spend more on me, I’ll feel embarrassed. I’ll just restrain myself a bit. You can just find any small hotel to put me up in."

Lin Qi said this and started looking along the roadside, but no matter how much she looked, she couldn’t find any rundown-looking places. They all seemed very upscale, the kind where one glance tells you it’s going to be expensive to stay for a night. She didn’t feel precious enough to stay in such a luxurious hotel. Even if someone else was paying, she would hate to waste the money.

She looked all around and found that the area was full of opulent hotels. It seemed she had no choice but to let this man spend more money. Perhaps it was fate for this man to shell out a little extra. If so, she wouldn’t blame herself. After looking around, Shen Dong also realized that they would have to book an expensive room.

If he tried to find something cheaper and something happened, what then? Therefore, he simply got out of the car, parked at a three-star hotel, and took Lin Qi inside. There was only this place with available rooms nearby, so they might as well stay here. After parking, he grabbed all the luggage and went to the front desk to get a room.

The receptionist had a slightly gossipy look in her eyes, but it didn’t linger, and soon she handed over the room card. Shen Dong passed the card to Lin Qi, who felt uncertain about how to respond.

Wasn’t it too good of a room? Should she really stay there? After a moment of hesitation, she decided to go ahead. She collected her luggage and made a beeline for the upstairs without saying a word.

Shen Dong gave a resigned smile. After all, his barbecue was getting cold; better to hurry back. Otherwise, his girlfriend would be waiting too long and there wouldn’t be good consequences. He turned to leave as Lin Qi took the elevator up, waiting for the next day to dawn.

When Shen Dong got home, he noticed that the lights in the whole room were dim, as if there were no signs of life. He thought that couldn’t be right; she was supposed to be here waiting for him. They had just been in contact about her waiting for him to get home.

She couldn’t have gone to bed already, could she? And there was a faint scent of food in the air, suggesting that she had probably cooked tonight. Too bad he was eating barbecue outside at that time. The temptation of barbecue was just too strong for him to resist.

"Yueyue, I’m home. Did you go to bed upstairs?" As he said this with no response, he could only turn on the flashlight and turn on the light, not knowing what to expect. To his surprise, he found the woman sound asleep on the sofa, sleeping sweetly. Shen Dong was startled, but relaxed when he saw clearly who it was. Turns out he had misunderstood.

Waiting for him had made her fall asleep here. Silly girl, why didn’t she go upstairs to sleep if she was so tired? Why force herself to wait here? That was really hard on her body. Without any hesitation, Shen Dong put the barbecue on the table and picked her up in a princess carry, step by step, heading upstairs.

Kang Yue felt someone as though someone was carrying her in her sleep, a very peculiar sensation. She wanted to open her eyes to see who it was, but she couldn’t—too sleepy. She remembered waiting for Shen Dong, but after a long wait, she just lay down on the sofa and fell asleep. Now, she was slightly aware because of the jostling of being carried. On reaching the room, Kang Yue woke up a bit and was startled to see Shen Dong. Speaking with a sleepy nasal voice, she said:

"You’re back already? I thought you wouldn’t be home until much later."

After saying this, she realized her tone wasn’t quite right. She had meant to sound more stern, as he had made her wait so long, and if she didn’t scold him well, he wouldn’t know who was the boss. So she deliberately spoke again, "No, what’s going on? I told you to come back for dinner, and you didn’t."
