I Treat You as My Sister, But You Want to be My Wife?! -
Chapter 620: Explain to You
Chapter 620: Chapter 620: Explain to You
"Rest assured, I will handle this matter for you," Shen Dong said with conviction. "I invited you here, so naturally, I won’t let anyone bully you. I understood what that waiter said at the beginning, and I can’t stand people who bully others by flaunting their power. In a moment, I will speak to the manager to make sure that person is punished.
That waitress will never work here again. Her sense of superiority comes from this job, doesn’t it? If she can’t work here anymore, that superiority will be gone," Shen Dong stated.
It seemed he was indeed going to stand up for her. "Oh, right. I still can’t remember your name; I’ve been meeting so many people lately. Just introduce yourself briefly for now."
When Shen Dong said this, he even felt a bit embarrassed, as it really was hard to remember everyone’s name. So he simply had to ask her to tell him. The unsuspecting girl was taken aback. Fine, forget it if he doesn’t remember; she had never expected this blockhead to remember her, anyway.
Thinking of the beautiful woman already at his side, so enchanting, it was only natural for him to forget her. She might as well just say her name and start over.
She decided not to use her real name. The work she was about to do wasn’t something she liked, and it wasn’t exactly honorable anyway. She thought about choosing a surname with "Lin," as she wanted to distance herself from her previous family.
So, "Lin Qi" it would be. She liked the name, and it sounded pleasant. Hoping for a fresh start in life, she confidently extended her hand and grasped Shen Dong’s right hand, introducing herself:
"Nice to meet you again. My name is Lin Qi. I had signed a contract with you at one point, but I had some reservations at the time and didn’t agree to it right away. You were willing to give me time, and when you saw my vulnerability, you immediately handed me a black card. It solved many of my problems, and all the money I’m spending now is being billed to this place.
Eventually, I’ll repay it in full, and that contract will remain in effect until I do. I truly want to do what I desire, but life’s pressures leave me no choice but to follow the dictates of this card. Please, take it back; there is still a little money left on it."
After speaking, Lin Qi solemnly placed the card on the table, intending for Shen Dong to take it back. Shen Dong raised an eyebrow as he looked at the card and the woman before him, seemingly recalling something. This was the same girl he’d first met, who had appeared so pitiful with red, tearful eyes. Yet, in the blink of an eye, she had transformed so impressively.
When they first met, he didn’t think this little "white rabbit" could bite so fiercely. Thinking of how she handled the waiter earlier, her assertiveness was earth-shattering. He never saw it coming. There’s a saying, "Appearances can deceive." This little lady exemplified that idiom, gentle in appearance but fiercer than anyone when provoked.
The two got to know each other briefly, and the waiter brought over the menu. Shen Dong gracefully placed it next to Lin Qi, who was surprised and quickly tried to return it, saying:
"You order; I’m not picky and can eat anything. I’m also happy and honored to dine here—I’ve never been to such an upscale restaurant. Once I’ve earned enough, I’ll definitely treat myself well. So for now, you should order; I’m not even sure what to get."
Upon saying this, she passed the menu back to Shen Dong, who chuckled. It wasn’t customary for a man to order in such situations; the woman should make her own selections. He wasn’t aware of her dietary restrictions and was not fussy himself.
If I were to order for you here, I’d be ungentlemanly," Shen Dong urged, "Don’t put me on the spot; go ahead and order. It’s just a small courtesy; don’t think too much about it. If we had to debate every day, how exhausting would that be?
Plus, I’m going to be your boss. Socializing is inevitable, and you need to become familiar with my preferences so you can order for me conveniently in the future. It can’t always be the boss who orders, right?"
After explaining, he smiled and handed her back the menu. When Lin Qi heard this, she knew she was being politely nudged to make the selection. Taking the menu in hand, she put aside any pretense. There was no big deal about ordering; in the end, the bill would be on Shen Dong.
Since he insisted she order, she wouldn’t feel guilty for choosing without seeing the full selection and picking the most expensive dishes. Having made a selection, she turned to him and inquired, "Oh, by the way, do you have any particular favorites? I ordered what I like to eat."
No one would have guessed that this girl could change so much, now speaking so freely and fearlessly, even choosing the costliest items without hesitation. Before, she’d been the pitiful one standing aside.
"No worries, I told you I’m not picky. I’ll like whatever you’ve ordered, so that’ll do," Shen Dong assured her before passing the menu to the waiter. He then asked for the manager, leaving the waiter puzzled, uncertain what they might have done wrong to prompt such a request and anxiously stood by.
It was then that Shen Dong realized his words might have been misunderstood, so he quickly clarified: "It’s not about you. I want to make a complaint about someone—the person by the door who had a bad attitude when I came in. Could you please fetch the manager for me?"
After these words, Shen Dong watched the waiter, hoping they understood his intent. The server caught on and guessed which colleague was likely the subject—Mrs. Hua, who was known for her poor service at the door.
Mrs. Hua often appeared disdainful of customers, especially attractive female ones, seemingly looking down on everyone. Many female customers didn’t like her, and despite the manager’s repeated warnings, she was unwilling to change.
