I Treat You as My Sister, But You Want to be My Wife?! -
Chapter 423 The End of Failure_1
Chapter 423: Chapter 423 The End of Failure_1
Shen Dong suddenly forgot how anxious he had been the night before, a nameless fire rising in his heart as he turned and stormed out of the accountant’s house, "Drive, to Hai City Middle School!"
He didn’t care about the leaves mottled on his clothes, nor the bloody scratches on his skin, staring grimly ahead with a low gaze.
"Shen Dong..." Zhou Chengyu tried to soothe him, but was met with a roar, "Drive!"
"Alright, driving." Zhou Chengyu steered the wheel.
He had accompanied Shen Dong in a frantic search all night, and seeing Shen Dong’s somber face, couldn’t help but try to comfort him, "Calm down, it’s alright as long as she’s safe, isn’t it?"
Shen Dong remained silent, looking out the window.
He should calm down.
He didn’t know why this sudden disappearance happened, but after a night of frantic searching, the outcome was hard for him to accept.
What was this?
A test?
To see how anxious Shen Dong would get?
What if something had happened?
A battle instantly ensued between his mature soul and immature love, causing some of the struggles in Shen Dong’s heart to burst forth.
"Back to Silver Moonlight." After a long while, Shen Dong saw the revolving doors of Silver Moonlight and changed his mind.
Zhou Chengyu was taken aback, automatically asking, "Aren’t you going to see Chen Yuyan?"
"Sleeping, tired." Shen Dong got out of the car as it stopped, ignoring the calls from Zhou Chengyu behind him.
With a helpless sigh, Zhou Chengyu felt the complexity of emotions as he clicked on an audio file on his phone, "Heaven and earth as my witness, the turtle testifies, haha, if Chen Yuyan and I ever break up, I, Shen Dong, will give Zhou Chengyu double the dividends, okay?"
"Should I persuade him?" Zhou Chengyu rubbed his phone, asking himself.
Shen Dong couldn’t possibly have imagined that just by sleeping, the world would change.
He still couldn’t extract himself perfectly from the ’Chen Yuyan’ incident, dragging his weary body up from the bed. He saw Su Qingyu and asked her to help make some fried rice, got the latest situation from Kang Yue on Wanfeng, and entered his private office as usual.
Shen Dong thought he was well-disguised, but everyone could see the added desolation in his eyes.
He closed the door and sat down in front of the computer.
Shen Dong mechanically opened his email, where Xu Zheng or Tang Yuchan would send daily progress reports on Huaxu. Their startup team had grown to nine hundred and thirty-two members, with seven hundred and sixty of those teams having activated the Huaxu icon.
Looking at the data, the promotion pace of Huaxu had been curbed, but the proportion of mature teams was very high, obviously focusing on reputation issues.
Reputation is important.
Huaxu was Hai City’s brand, as well as its façade; one could say that during the initial promotion stage, any small tarnish could impact Hai City’s future.
Hai City was the core of the overall plan, and its details had been implemented. The remaining problems could only be waited out as time fermented; being anxious was useless.
Overall, one could say the news was generally good, but Shen Dong couldn’t bring himself to smile.
He pushed the keyboard away with both hands and lay back in his chair, questioning himself in exasperation, "What are you annoyed about, Shen Dong? What’s there to be annoyed about in such an immature relationship?"
"Look at these numbers!" Shen Dong slapped the keyboard as he spoke, earnestly saying, "Your data here, could already compete with the Taobao, maybe even become the future richest man in the empire!"
"What are you annoyed about!"
He attempted to use the fervor of conquering the world to disperse the gloom in his heart, but alas, it seemed to have no effect.
Shen Dong grabbed his hair in a fit of agitation.
He somewhat regretted not going to the school to find Chen Yuyan yesterday. "Why all the fuss, is it shameful for a man to admit his mistakes to his wife?"
"Really dumb!"
Shen Dong had no idea that when he entered, he hadn’t properly closed the door; it was just ajar.
Kang Yue was about to deliver some documents to Shen Dong. Her hand had just touched the doorknob when she heard Shen Dong muttering like a madman. The man wasn’t as strong as he seemed.
A peculiar ripple surged in her heart, and she instinctively decided to leave.
As she turned, Su Qingyu happened to be walking towards her.
Su Qingyu also wore a look of sympathy, handing some delicious fried rice to Kang Yue, "Try to persuade him, when kids get heartbroken, they tend to overthink."
"Okay," Kang Yue, with a thought, graciously accepted the fried rice.
Click, the door locked behind her as she entered. Carrying the rice, Kang Yue headed straight for the sofa. While eating, she sang, "Here’s a CD from the past..."
Shen Dong turned at the sound, walked over, and snatched the chopsticks, "You really can’t sing, where’s the Wanfeng materials?"
"Hey, have you ever been in love?" Kang Yue wasn’t planning to talk business and rested her hands on her chin, an inquisitive look on her face.
"Nonsense." Shen Dong glanced at Kang Yue and told her about his short-lived online romance during his days in video dance games.
After listening, Kang Yue clicked her tongue and shook her head, "No wonder. Turns out you’re just a porcelain doll without emotional experience."
Those words made Shen Dong feel deeply insulted, as if he were being mocked for being forever single.
He wanted to argue, but his response deflated, and he honestly admitted, "I wish I could have that experience, but it’s hard to find even a female mosquito in the factory. Up early and back late, from nine to five, I hardly have a social life."
"So you resort to online dating?" Kang Yue successfully diverted Shen Dong’s attention, mockingly serious, "I’m curious, with such a secluded outlook on life, how did you get to where you are now?"
"Research," Shen Dong didn’t hesitate, spilling his secrets, "Back then I would just go online and look up everything, memorize anything that sounded cool, and keep it to show off."
Kang Yue couldn’t help but laugh out loud, not in mockery; she saw in Shen Dong an unwillingness to settle for mediocrity, and she thought she had identified the emotional crux.
All of a sudden, she changed the subject, probing, "So, you think you deserve a better girl, is that it?"
"That’s not it," Shen Dong flatly denied.
He pointed firmly on the table and stated earnestly, "When I had nothing, Chen Yuyan was willing to be with me, and when we were caught and taken to Bowen, she didn’t back down either, regardless of whether it’s naive or not, I find that affection more precious than anything."
"Then why didn’t you go find Chen Yuyan?" Like a true KOL, she subtly brought the conversation back on track.
Shen Dong shook his head in resignation and put the fried rice on the table, "It’s not that I don’t want to find her, it’s just not the right time."
As the topic arose, Shen Dong revisited an old concern, "This is the hang-up I can’t get past. I feel it’s no problem for me to make arrangements for Zhou Wenbin and Su Qingyu, but when it comes to my childhood friend, arranging a girlfriend for him just doesn’t feel right."
Kang Yue appeared insightful, "You’re afraid the relationship will change if you do, and if you don’t, you feel like you’re not doing enough by him."
"Exactly, what do you think I should do?" That was exactly how Shen Dong felt, and especially after Mr. Hu’s incident, he was truly afraid of leading Yu Miao and Pang astray from the very roots.
"You’re overthinking because you care." Kang Yue picked up the egg fried rice and handed it to Shen Dong.
She said seriously, "No matter how capable you are, don’t meddle in others’ lives. If they’re right, offer your support; if they’re wrong, don’t waste words. Just be ready to bear the consequences of their failures, and that’s enough."
