Chapter 448: [Bonus Chapter] ten seconds

[CITY POLICE HEADQUARTERS: INTERROGATION ROOM]

"Where are the children?!"

The detective interrogating the suspect of kidnapping Sebastian and Riley slammed the table angrily. But alas, the suspect kept a tight lip. They already tried different approaches, but this felon would either keep a tight lip or say nonsense.

Dominic watched everything from the observation room. His arms were folded under his chest, his expression dark, and his patience running thin. Everyone was already making plans, and the investigation was in motion. He was simply here while waiting for any useful reports from the investigation team.

"Sir," Dane spoke quietly as he stepped inside the observation room. "The General already raised the problem to the Central Intelligence. He said he will reach out soon. Mr. Cruel already joined the investigation. He also said he will call once he finds any lead."

Dominic didn’t react, keeping his eyes on the two people in the interrogation room. "That tattoo... chief, do you know what gang did he come from?"

"Red Scorpions." The chief of police, who had been with Dominic since the man came, set his eyes on the tattoo on the felon’s neck. "We already ran a background check on him. He’s a part of a gang that is usually involved in drug dealings. He is most likely a foot soldier."

"I see..." Dominic rocked his head, tapping his finger on his biceps. "I don’t think he has any plans to talk."

"He will talk soon," the chief of police reassured. "These types of people usually stall time, but they will eventually break once they stay longer in that room."

"Stay longer..." Dominic slowly cast the chief of police a look. "Are you saying I have to wait for progress until this man talks?"

"Mr. Zhu, the investigation team —"

"The investigation team still has no progress even after six hours since the abduction happened. I already raised this emergency to your higher-ups, thinking that might give you enough motivation. However, the only thing I got from you is empty words, chief."

"Mr. Zhu..."

"This incident happened under your jurisdiction. One of my people is fighting for her life just for us to start with something, and even with that, there’s still no progress." Dominic slowly turned on his heel, facing the chief of police squarely. "I am losing hope in this department, Chief. I can’t imagine just how dreadful it is for those who had no means but to reach out to this government agency for help."

The chief of police opened his mouth, only to shut it again. Displeasure turned up on his face, displeased at Dominic’s harsh remarks. However, he couldn’t do anything but exercise maximum tolerance. Dominic’s son was kidnapped and as a parent, Dominic had no patience or understanding to spare.

"As long as you don’t interfere with me..." Dominic peeled his sharp gaze from the chief of police back to the interrogation room. "... you will keep your position, chief."

Dane pressed his lips into a thin line, glancing at the chief of police and then some officers inside. They all had terrible looks on their faces, making Dane sigh heavily.

’My boss hates abusing his power...’Dane shifted his attention to Dominic. ’... but the little master’s life is on the line. Even though more people were moving to locate the little master’s whereabouts, every second is crucial.’

BOING.

Dane’s brows rose as he heard a weird noise coming from Dominic. ’What’s that?’he wondered as Dominic focused on his phone.

’What a strange ringtone,’ he thought, only to catch his phone’s screen lit up. Dane raised the phone to his face to read a message, only to furrow his brows. However, just before he could say anything, the door suddenly flew open.

Dane almost jumped from his spot, looking back to see the person who kicked the door. Not just him, but everyone, including Dominic, turned their attention to the door.

"I’m sorry, but I was told to kick it open." Tiger waved with a smile, stepping aside to make way for the people behind him.

The moment they caught Heaven entering, followed by Axel, Dominic and Dane, furrowed their brows.

"Axel, why did you bring your sister here?" was the first question that came out of Dominic’s mouth, marching toward his wife. He held her biceps, scanning her face. "Darling, what are you doing here? You should be resting..."

"I can’t stay and wait, Dom." Heaven looked up at him, bearing nothing but her unbending determination. "The baby is fine."

"It’s not me, okay?" Axel defended himself, pouting. "I tried stopping her, but she scared me. So, I tagged along instead."

Dominic looked at his brother. He had already figured out what happened by seeing the fire in Heaven’s eyes, so Axel’s explanation came late.

"Dom. Axel filled me in with the details." Heaven clipped the lapels of his suit, tugging it mildly. "Where is it?"

IT?

"The one Princess caught," she clarified.

"He’s there." Dominic cocked his head to the mirror, making her turn her head. "He’s not saying anything, but don’t worry. I am already in contact with the General and some people. We’ll get Basti’s whereabouts in five minutes."

"Five minutes?" Dane furrowed his brows, casting his boss a look. What a strange way to put it, he thought. How could Dominic give a specific time?

’But then again...’Dane glanced at his phone again. ’... there’s another thing to worry about.’

"You can stay silent all you want, but you will never go out of here," warned the detective interrogating the suspect, only for the latter to smirk and spit to the side.

"That rascal!" Axel ground his teeth, miffed at the sight of the suspect.

’Five minutes is too long,’Heaven thought, assessing the suspect from head to toe. "Can I talk to him?"

"Huh?"

"Let me talk to him." Heaven slowly faced Dominic again, and then the chief of police. "Maybe, if I begged him, he would say something useful. This man has a family — he has a mother. So maybe..."

"Heaven..."

"Please, Dom." Heaven held his hand. "Basti is in danger and we need to do everything. I will beg on my knees if that will save Basti. Please... let me talk to him."

She squeezed his hand as her eyes shone in desperation. Dominic let out a deep breath, casting the chief a look.

"He’s cuffed, so it’ll be safe." The chief nodded. "Maybe this will work, hopefully."

"Thank you, Chief." Heaven smiled subtly.

Dominic didn’t want Heaven to go in alone and insisted on coming with her. Hence, with the chief’s lead, they followed him to the interrogation room. However, as soon as the door creaked open, the pitiful look of a mother disappeared from her countenance as if was replaced with murderous intent.

"Oh, chief..." the detective rose from his seat at the chief’s call, but trailed off in surprise as a figure entered the interrogation room, unannounced.

Heaven held her breath as her pupils dilated, staring at the suspect. The latter also stared back at the woman marching in his direction, only to see her extend her arm.

"Heaven," Dominic called in surprise as they realized Heaven went in the moment the chief opened the door. But his voice faded as a loud slam echoed in the interrogation room.

SLAM!

Heaven clutched the man’s hair, slamming his face against the table and breaking his nose. Yet, she showed no sign of remorse as she grabbed the back of his hair, pulling his head back. At the same time, the tip of the pen stopped centimeters from his eyes, refraining the suspect from moving an inch.

"You have 10 seconds to decide how you want to die," Heaven threatened, pushing her foot on his thigh and holding a pen to his eye while gripping his head with her other hand.

"WHERE. IS. MY. SON?"
