Chapter 253: What are you?

"Mommy, I found out your secret. I knew that you were a spy. When I saw the same logo from your computer on your phone, I went to check the mobile version. But then, someone messaged me and told me there was only one person who can access the system. The phone glitched right after that and then it got reset."

Heaven instinctively held her breath, barely taking in some keywords from Sebastian’s statements. When she huffed quietly, she planted her hands on his shoulders.

"Basti, did you mean that logo that looks like... a reaper?" she asked quietly, watching her son purse his lips into a thin line. "How...?"

Sebastian puffed his one cheek, sliding his eyes to the corner as he confessed. "I went through Mommy’s computer."

"Basti." Heaven slowly straightened her back.

Heaven set up her computer so that even if someone would go through it, they wouldn’t notice something important was installed in it. How did he find that secret software?

"I was curious why you stay in front of the computer for hours. I thought Mommy was playing a game, and I wanted to impress you by knowing about it," explained the little master, looking up at her with genuine wonder in his eyes. "Mommy, is it true that you are a spy?"

What?

Heaven furrowed her brows, only absorbing his previous remarks just now. "No."

"Then why do you have that software and even some government agencies’ systems on your phone and computer?"

"..." Heaven opened and closed her mouth, not ready for this type of conversation. There was a time she was worried Bear would go through her stuff and find out that system. However, she could’ve never fathomed the first person who would find out about it was her son.

She looked at him, eyes shaking slightly. How was she going to explain everything to him in a way he would understand?

"Basti." Heaven planted her hands on his shoulders again, forcing a smile on her face. "Mommy is not a spy."

"Then what are you?"

’A mob? Assassin? A murderer? A felon on the loose?’ she bit her tongue as conflict resurfaced on her face. ’What am I? Someone I was never proud of.’

"Even if you’re not a spy, I think Mommy is cool." Before she could cook up any believable lie to tell him, his mouth formed into an adorable smile. "Mommy, do you also know how to fight?"

"Huh?"

"Do you go to missions and infiltrate the bad guys’ den?"

"..." Heaven stared at him, confused. She could see the genuine awe in his eyes with a tinge of excitement. A look that reminded her of the looks in Axel’s eyes just earlier today.

"Basti." Heaven let out a deep exhale, but Sebastian spoke again before she could.

"Don’t worry, Mommy. Your secret is safe with me." Sebastian grinned until his eyes were squinting. "But I’m worried if the person who reset the phone is a bad guy or someone mommy knows."

"Basti, listen to Mom, okay?" Heaven lowered her head, looking at him at eye level. "Mommy is not a spy, but she is someone who knows dangerous people. Can you tell me if there’s something else you did that I need to know?"

Sebastian pondered about it for a second. "Nothing?"

"Even on the computer?"

"Mhm. It’s easier to navigate the computer since there’s already an existing protective wall in it." He blinked innocently, surprising her with his answer. "Ah! I think there’s one."

"What is it?"

"That man you’re looking for has some serious problems with the Triad."

"What?"

"Though I am not sure, I think it’s something about his deal to legalize his group or something?" Sebastian mumbled to himself as he hadn’t dug deeper about it because people kept disrupting his progress. When he looked up again and smiled, he added. "Mommy, did that man do something bad to you?"

"Basti." Heaven squeezed his shoulder mildly, making him raise his brows in confusion. At this point, he already grasped that Sebastian seemed to have stumbled upon many things he shouldn’t have.

"Listen to Mommy okay? That man is dangerous. Don’t let others know what you just said to Mommy just now, okay?" she forced a smile, fighting her racing heart at this new information.

"Okay!"

Heaven pulled him into her embrace, breathing heavily as her heart wouldn’t stop thudding against her chest. The last person she wanted to know about these things was Sebastian. She didn’t even want Dominic to know because of one important reason.

In the underground, ignorance might get one killed. But it was also the same for someone who knew things they shouldn’t know. It didn’t matter if one purposely figured out information or they accidentally just heard it.

Dead men tell no tale, and that had always been one of the major rules in the underground. It was the only way to keep their secrets.

"Mommy, are you scared?" Sebastian frowned, listening to the loud beating of her heart. "Your heart is beating so fast."

Her face crumpled a bit, closing her eyes for a moment. "Yes." Heaven released him from her embrace to look at his adorable face.

"I’m terrified that you will get hurt." She cupped his face gently. "Don’t get hurt, okay? And don’t go to that program again."

"Am I in trouble now? Or did I put you in trouble?"

"No." Heaven shook her head. "But I’m afraid we’d both be in trouble if you touch the system again."

Sebastian assessed her face and smiled in understanding. "Alright. I’m sorry."

"It’s okay, baby." Heaven smiled back reassuringly. "Anyway, can you call Dad for me? It’s almost time for dinner."

"Alright."

With that being said, Sebastian jumped out of the couch to fetch his father. Meanwhile, Heaven remained on the seat with her eyes fixed on her son. When the little master was out of sight, the short smile on her face died with a snap of a finger.

Heaven slowly turned her head to the phone, eyes glinting menacingly. She bent over to pick it up, standing from her seat, and marching straight outside the penthouse.
