Chapter 173: Princess
Heaven’s excitement about the filming only lasted overnight. She still stuck to her routine for the rest of the week, but this time, she had a script to read and something else to do on top of her usual routine.
The soul inside this body had no experience in acting or anything that related to it. Therefore, she could only rely on the original Heaven’s knowledge about this.
DING!
Heaven snapped her eyes when the lift she was in rang, stopping at the floor just two floors below the penthouse. When the door slowly parted, her brows rose as soon as she saw the person standing outside.
"Tsk." Axel clicked his tongue as soon as he saw his sister-in-law standing inside the elevator. "What a great way to start my day."
Axel grumpily dragged himself inside the elevator, joining Heaven and her bodyguard, Bear, inside. Looking at him in his comfortable pajamas underneath the thick night robe, one could tell he had just woken up. His hair was still a mess and his cheek still had traces of pillow marks, as if he fell asleep with his cheek on the pillow.
Heaven turned her head to her brother-in-law, watching him grumpily groan as he leaned against the corner after pressing a button. He was hugging himself, covering his body with the thick and oversized robe, yawning. It was only after two weeks since moving into this place that Heaven found out Axel also lived in the same building; no wonder Sebastian and Dominic didn’t care much whenever he come or leave. She almost commended his effort for regularly visiting them, only to realize Axel didn’t need to exert effort to visit them since he just lived two floors below the penthouse.
"Axel —"
"Shhh, don’t talk to me." Axel had his eyes closed, muttering grumpily. "Just pretend I am not here. I’m not ready for any conversation at the moment."
"Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed, I see."
Axel snapped his eyes open. "What did you say?"
"I said, did you just wake up?"
"That’s definitely not what you said."
"It’s almost lunchtime." Heaven blinked innocently. "Have you eaten?"
"Why? Are you going to feed me if I said no?" Axel scrunched his nose up, speaking sarcastically to her. "I’ll say it again. Don’t talk to me — my head hurts and your voice makes it even worse."
Axel clicked his tongue faintly before closing his eyes, melting into the corner as if all he wanted was to get off this lift. For the past month since his brother and his family moved into this building, visiting his nephew was made easy. However, visiting Sebastian also meant meeting Heaven. It was inevitable since Sebastian and Heaven were inseparable.
As Axel found solace in the corner of the lift, he flinched when a cold hand touched his forehead. He jumped away on instinct, snapping his eyes wide open. When his shaking eyes landed on Heaven with her hand clutched close to her chest, the side of his lips curved down deeply.
"What the hell are you doing?"
Heaven clutched her hand close to her chest. "You have a slight fever."
"Hah?" Axel scrunched his nose up in dismay. "So what? Why are you touching me? Do you know you shouldn’t touch people without their permission? That’s a crime!"
"But you’re my brother —"
"Hah! Heaven Liu. My brother and Basti might’ve fallen into your trap, but never me!" Axel crossed his arm in front of her, showing an "X" sign. "Don’t even think of gaining my trust — that will never happen. Stay on your lane and I’ll stay in mine, got it?!"
A shallow sigh slipped past her lips, staring at her stubborn brother-in-law. She didn’t try to talk to him anymore, shrugging. This lift was so quiet that Axel’s voice was echoing louder than it should; it hurts her ear.
’If only I don’t need him,’ she thought, glancing up at the numbers above the door. ’But then again, he was quite entertaining to tease.’
The elevator ride went silent, but instead of resting, Axel was just glaring at Heaven. He looked like a wary cat, watching if Heaven would do something to him again. He didn’t even lower his guard, even after reaching a few floors before the ground floor.
Heaven was aware of his wary glares, but she kept her eyes on the shut door. Though she discreetly observed him from the corner of her eyes.
’Surely, living alone has its own cons,’she thought, thinking that Axel had been living alone for years. He didn’t even have a single bodyguard and only had two housekeepers who would clean his place every other day.
In other words, no one would take care of Axel if he was sick. Especially if the housekeepers weren’t there to clean his place.
As Heaven went silent, Bear couldn’t help but stare at her back. After that particular encounter with her a month ago, Bear thought something would change. But alas, Heaven was still the same, and she hadn’t asked him for updates.
’Did she forget?’ he wondered which he immediately squashed down. ’Impossible.’
If Bear’s understanding of Heaven was correct, she probably hadn’t mentioned anything because it was not time yet. Looking at her, he wondered what she was thinking at the moment. He then glanced at Axel in the corner, noticing how Axel’s cheek slowly turned redder.
’How did she know he’s running a fever and not just having a hangover?’ — it would be more natural if one would assume Axel had a hangover with how unkempt he appeared. ’It seemed he also doesn’t have an idea that his sister-in-law...’
Bear’s thoughts trailed off upon noticing someone’s gaze on him. When he moved his eyes to look, all he saw was Heaven looking at him over her shoulder.
’Oh.’ Bear lowered his head and bowed slightly, understanding the unspoken order that was swirling in her eyes.
DING!
"Finally..." Axel grumbled, peeling his body from the wall as the door slowly slid open. However, just as he stepped out, Bear walked past Heaven and grabbed Axel’s shoulder to stop him.
"Huh?" Axel turned to Bear, who grabbed his biceps abruptly. "What are you —"
Axel gasped in horror when Bear suddenly and swiftly swept his feet away, carrying him in bridal style. His jaw almost fell to the floor, horrified.
"Miriam, prepare some warm breakfast for Axel. No. He was sick. I’ll take him to the clinic." Axel slowly turned his head in Heaven’s direction, only to see the latter talking on the phone. Horror dominated his face while Heaven glanced in his direction. "Yes, thank you."
"Bring him to the clinic," Heaven ordered as soon as the line disconnected and without further ado, Bear carried Axel like a princess to the building’s clinic.
