Chapter 171: The script

[One month later]

[From: Senior Wu

Hey, there! I got the go signal from Director Guan. He was very excited to have you in the production. The first taping was set for next week. He said you should go. I already sent you the script and the details you need to know.

See you next week.]

Heaven grinned as soon as she finished reading the message from Leo Wu, the original Heaven’s unofficial ex. After meeting him that day some time ago, Heaven hadn’t heard from him. Leo was a busy man, and not that she expected to hear from him.

Moreover, Heaven got busy with everything in the Zhu Family these past months. She almost forgot about Leo’s existence, though she never forgot her grudge against Paula Shen for setting her up.

"Finally, a distraction!" Heaven announced, checking her emails to see the script Leo sent. "I never thought scripts look like this — wow."

Heaven got herself comfortable on the huge couch in the living area, still in her pajamas. She read the script while lying on her side, looking all lazy and a bum.

For the past month, Heaven’s life was almost the same every day.

Dominic worked from home for two weeks after the incident. In those two weeks, Heaven couldn’t do anything. Fortunately, Dominic slowly accepted that his wife was fine and he could rest easy. Thus, he went back to work, but alas, Dominic became a lot busier throughout the day to make up for those two weeks.

Dominic would still come home at eight, but he could barely text her when he was at work. Sebastian was just as busy as his father. Although Sebastian still went to school after the incident, he had a ton of lessons that he refused to ditch.

In other words, Heaven was bored to death. She tried going out and hitting the gym, but she still found it boring after a while.

"Wow..." her excited grin turned into a frown as she got a grasp of the script and the role given to her.

"Madam, here’s the tea you asked for." Miriam carefully placed the tray on the coffee table, serving the tea and snacks for Heaven. Seeing that Heaven was busy on her phone, her brows rose in curiosity. "Did the master message you, madam?"

"Nope. I’m reading a script." Heaven glanced over at her phone before sitting upright.

"A script?"

"Mhm."

"Madam, are you going back to acting?"

"Well, for the time being. It’s a minor role, so it’s fine." Heaven sat up and faced Miriam, tapping the cushion beside her. "Take a seat. I’ll tell you what it’s about and you tell me what you think about it."

"Oh..." Miriam was a bit baffled, but she still hesitatingly took a seat on the same couch.

The couch was large enough to fit an entire group of fifteen. Thus, there was an arm length’s between Heaven and Miriam.

"So, here’s the story..." Heaven summarized the film’s premise while Miriam listened attentively.

The movie was about an infamous outlaw and a detective. It would start with a crime scene that was committed by a nameless and faceless serial killer. The detective in charge transferred the case due to public backlash. This case was given to one of the most competent detectives in the hope of catching the serial killer before the killer could find another victim.

Paula Shen would play the detective.

However, despite the detective’s expertise, the serial killer on the loose was still at large. The crime scene was always clean with little to no hints. Unless the killer purposely left a hint for this detective (Paula). Left with no choice, the detective would receive help from the most notorious assassin on their wanted list.

Leo would play the outlaw.

It was unethical, but something along the way would push Paula to receive help from the charismatic Leo. And that would be the start of a forbidden and steamy romance between the two.

"That... is an intriguing concept," Miriam commented awkwardly. "And your role in this movie was?"

"The serial killer."

"What?" Miriam gasped, only for Heaven to laugh. "Madam, are you sure you’re going to take this role?"

"Haha. Why not?"

"Madam." Miriam frowned, sighing heavily. "I don’t know much about in the entertainment circle, but I’ve been a fan of movies and dramas. I don’t think this role is a good role for your comeback."

The corner of Heaven’s lips stretched from ear to ear, watching the worry plastered on Miriam’s face. "Oh, Miriam. I’m kidding! Of course, my role isn’t that! If I played that role, I need to go through auditions since it’s a main character and a character that is crucial to the movie."

"Goodness." Miriam patted her chest in relief. "I thought I’m going to see you as a villain for the first time."

"Huh?" Heaven blinked. "Had you watched my movies?"

Miriam pressed her lips into a thin line, lowering her eyes as if that was something she should be embarrassed about. "Yes," she answered in a murmur.

"To be honest, I was a fan before. So when I met you the first time, I was a little excited." A pink blush appeared on her cheek, looking up at Heaven slightly. "But I couldn’t say that I was a fan because you weren’t well back then."

"Oh..." Heaven rocked her head, a little surprised at this revelation. ’No wonder she cared for Heaven so much.’

Heaven smiled. "Anyway, don’t worry. That’s not my role in the movie."

"If not that, what role are you going to play? The detective?"

"Nope." Heaven grinned, setting her eyes on the phone to scroll for more information about the film. "My role is very minor that the production can even remove the role without affecting the entire story. This role is just an added color — you can consider it something we call optional in cooking."

She cocked her head back, eyes falling on Miriam. "It’s the outlaw’s only friend. Another outlaw."
