Chapter 119: [Bonus Chapter]Sharing is caring
[TRIGGER WARNING: YOU MIGHT GET A HYPERTENSION. The Chapter contains violence and elements of bullying.]
"Is this supposed to be a bunny?"
"How can Basti’s mom make this one? I asked my mommy to make a bunny bun. She said it was impossible!"
"This flower here — can I have it? Is this an egg?"
"You can’t." Sebastian maintained a poker face as more of his classmates flocked around his desk. "My mommy said to eat all. I can’t share."
"Aww..." the other young girl in pigtails pouted. "How about a trade?"
"A trade is supposed to be of equal value. I don’t like yours."
"Basti, can I ask your mommy to make me a flower egg too?" another girl chimed in, unable to look away from Sebastian’s pretty snacks. "If you don’t want, I like this Sunny one."
"Just ask your mother to make you one." Sebastian frowned, displeased that these kids were suddenly flocking to his desk with their ’ugly’ snacks. "Stop bothering me."
"But we want to share snacks with Basti!" another boy joined, pushing another girl to the side. "It’s Basti’s first time bringing snacks, so we should share! Sharing is caring!"
Sebastian looked at his classmate in the learning center, only to see the hopeful look on their faces. This was new to him. Normally, these children wouldn’t approach Sebastian. Although every once in a while, they would ask him to join them, Sebastian was just too aloof to even respond.
’I wondered why they are suddenly so persistent?’wondered Sebastian, thinking they were acting unusual.
Little did he know, his classmates had always wanted to play with him. It was just that Sebastian would always make the first one to approach him cry. They found the courage to approach him today because he didn’t make the first girl cry.
Moreover, the girl already proposed to eat their snacks together. The rest just followed. Some children were told by their parents to befriend Sebastian, though.
"Whatever." Sebastian sighed, recalling his mother’s reminder to be good. "Just don’t eat my snacks."
"Yey!!" the children’s cheers echoed in the classroom.
"Out of the way! Move!" The happy cheers halted when a grumpy child forced his way to Sebastian’s desk. "Liar! Sebastian is a liar!"
"Huh?" the children looked at the other big kid with genuine wonder in their eyes.
"I don’t believe you, Basti!" said the big kid who was initially gloating about his snacks, only to get ignored because everyone just went to Sebastian. "My mommy said you don’t have a mommy! I’m sure it’s not your mom who did that because you don’t have one!"
"Yun, what are you saying?" another little girl frowned. "I saw Basti’s mom when I came here. She’s so pretty! My mommy even said she looked like a celebrity!
Yun, the arrogant boy, sneered. "That’s not true."
"How did you know it’s not true?"
"Because Basti is a bad kid! Only kids without a mom are like that!" the boy argued as if he truly believed such an argument. "Did you forget what Basti did to me? He punched me and made my nose bleed! His father had to apologize on his knees just so my daddy will not get angry!"
"But my daddy said you’re lucky to be punched by Basti." Another boy commented, obviously too innocent to know what he was arguing about.
"My daddy also said don’t make Basti angry!" one boy chimed in, hands up. "Basti’s dad is very scary!"
"Hah! Lies!" Yun, a kid who was slightly bigger than the rest, laughed arrogantly. "His dad isn’t scary. If only he was, then why would Basti’s mom leave him? Do you know he is a single father?"
Yun smirked at Sebastian. "He wouldn’t be a single father if he had a wife, right?"
"Oh..." the kids looked at each other with their mouths formed in an o-shape.
"But that is okay!" the girl who first approached Sebastian frowned. "What’s so wrong with just having one parent?! Yun, you are going too far!"
"It’s fine." Sebastian sighed, closing his lunch box as he decided not to argue with a stupid kid. He didn’t say anything anymore, choosing to listen to his mother’s advice when she dropped him off.
Sebastian picked up his lunch box and turned on his heel. He glanced at the children standing beside him.
"Move," he ordered coldly.
"Where do you think you’re going?" the bully’s face darkened, seeing that Sebastian was running away from him. "What? Are you scared now, Basti?"
Sebastian just looked back, bearing nothing but coldness. "If you hadn’t forgotten what I did to you last time, I advise you to hold your tongue. My mother told me to behave and be a good boy. I won’t disappoint her for you."
With that being said, Sebastian looked away from Yun. He chose to distance himself instead of fighting him. Even if this boy accused him of lying, it didn’t matter. After all, Sebastian didn’t owe that kid any explanation.
For as long as Sebastian knew the truth, everything else was just nothing but noise.
But just as Sebastian thought distancing himself from the trouble would be the solution, he was wrong.
CLANG!
A hand suddenly pushed him from behind, making Sebastian fall along with his lunch box. All the food his mother made for him rolled on the floor. His eyes slowly dilated as he held his breath, gazing at the food now gone to waste.
"Yun!" the girl shouted as she rushed to Sebastian’s side. When her eyes fell on Sebastian’s side profile, she glared at Yun angrily. "Why did you push him like that!? Look at the food! Now, everything is on the floor!"
"Hah! That’s his fault for lying!" Yun scoffed, staring at Sebastian’s back. His brow arched when Sebastian moved, picking up the food from the floor back to his lunch box.
"So pathetic." Yun snapped his tongue, balling his little hands into tight fists. "Why are you still picking them up?! Didn’t you say you’d give me another nosebleed? Where is that confidence now, hah!?"
"You’re like your dad! Both of you are cowards!" Yun stormed and stomped on the food aggressively, hurting Sebastian’s finger as he did.
Sebastian, however, didn’t mind the pain, as his focus was on the ruined food on the floor.
"My snacks..." whispered Sebastian before all the rationality in his eyes disappeared. When he raised his head, all he saw was red, while his heart was filled with anger he couldn’t describe.
