Chapter 1060: Special deliveries, all done!
[PORT]
"Ah, god. This is exhausting." Primo stretched his arms and arched his back. "Who would have thought this job is crazy bad?"
He pounded on his shoulders, massaging it to soothe his stiff muscles. Controlling the drop-offs was easy and fun at first; watching their enemies (especially Dimitri’s men) get crushed like bugs was satisfying. However, after doing it a couple of times, he felt a little stiff. Talked about labor work.
"We’re almost clear here."
Suddenly, a man came to the deck control to let Primo know about the situation. The latter looked back, letting out a short ’uh’ as a reply.
"Tiger might need you outside. He said he sighted Ram," added the man.
"Hera’s with him? Or is she dead?"
"That’s what Tiger wants to know."
"Tch." Primo clicked his tongue and nodded. "Okay. I’ll drop this one last package and I’ll be there."
The man nodded in understanding, leaving Primo alone once again. When the door closed, Primo huffed as he set his eyes on the little monitor he got. In it, he could see almost every corner of the port. It helped him decide where to throw every container.
"Did they forget Hera used her precious time during the cruise setting this thing up?" he mumbled, shrugging nonchalantly afterward. "Nevermind. I have to get out, anyway. Another second in here and I’ll lose my mind."
Primo hummed leisurely, moving the lever as he found another spot to throw the last container. "Slowly, slowly... and then not slow anymore." He released the last container as a ’big’ help for the recipient. Throwing it away somewhere far away would be a lot of work for the recipients. Thus, out of the goodness of his heart, he dropped it off right in front of them.
"Special deliveries, all done!"

BOOGSH!
Elliot stood frozen, almost losing balance as the ground shook once more. A harsh gust of wind blew past him, causing small debris from the concrete to fly in his direction. He raised his arms in front of him on instinct, keeping his ground. When it quieted down slightly, he lowered his arms.
"Did they plan to crush me?" he blurted out under his breath, realizing the container had landed only several steps from him. If he didn’t see it coming, he would’ve been dead.
"Elliot!"
Just as Elliot was wondering what sort of sick idea the Reapers had, he heard a familiar voice from behind him. When he turned, he saw Ram coming out of the sedan in a hurry, along with his men.
"Mr. President," called Elliot, watching them approach him. "Why are you here? Shouldn’t you stay back?"
"I told you. It’s too risky to be in the field," Ram grumbled, checking Elliot from up and down. "You’re bleeding."
Elliot furrowed his brows, only to realize his arm was bleeding. When he rolled up his sleeve, it revealed what seemed like a gunshot wound. Or maybe a debris that flew in his direction. After all, while those containers were falling one after another, a battle also ensued. Some fought their way out, while others took their chances to kill him.
"They were trying to kill me," he remarked, recalling the chaos that happened before the enemies shrunk to almost none in numbers. "All of them..."
"The Reapers didn’t plan to kill you." Ram jerked his chin toward the last container, watching Elliot look back at him. "If that container didn’t fall there, the person hiding in there would’ve shot you dead."
"I know. They’re not the ones I’m talking about," Elliot clarified sternly. "I’m talking about the Sun Organization. All of them... know me. And despite the chaos, they took their chances to take me down."
Ram’s expression darkened, glancing around and then back to Elliot. "They were ordered to retrieve the shipments and kill you?"
"It seems to be the matter."
"We have to go," Ram urged, reminded of Hera’s remarks before she took all their cash and left. "Hera said, if the goods she entrusted in your hands go missing, you’ll end up chewing your toe."
Although she said that to him and not Elliot, it would be just as bad if something happened.
"The goods she entrusted to me?" Elliot furrowed his brows, glancing at the containers around. "You mean these...?"
He trailed off as he was reminded of something. Aside from these containers, which the Reapers called ’special deliveries,’ they rescued children from where these containers were shipped off. The contents of these containers were just bodies, arms, and loads of drugs hidden inside the bananas.
From there, it wasn’t hard for the two of them to put the puzzle together. The Sun Organization specifically targeted Elliot when there were other enemies in the scene. Matter of fact, there were many times Elliot almost died because of surprise attacks. However, whenever that happened, those enemies would drop dead.
He didn’t know who was covering for him. It could be his Sniper Squad or someone else. It didn’t matter.
"The children..." Elliot breathed out as his eyes dilated. He pressed his earpiece, only to realize it broke earlier.
"Let’s go!" Ram urged once more, tipping his head to his car.
Elliot nodded and was just about to hurry into Ram’s car when he heard a voice. Staying to clear the mess in this place held little importance to the life on the line. Considering the Sun Organization’s main source of money was organ trade, plus Hera’s warning, there was a high possibility there was an inside job going on.
Those children who were under the protection of the government weren’t safe.
But just as Elliot and Ram were about to go, they suddenly heard a voice from the ship. They stopped and looked, only to see a man sauntering through the ramp to get into the port.
"Alexander Cafre," Ram whispered, watching Primo sway his megaphone which he used to get their attention.
"Hey, hey, hey!" Primo spoke through the megaphone again, advancing in their direction. "Just one question before you guys leave. Have you seen Hera?"
Ram and Elliot’s already grim faces darkened. He was stopping them just because of this?
"Yes, and she left. You better ask Wolf for her whereabouts." Ram raised his voice. "I know you might want to chat, but I did not bring some tea to —"
Suddenly, Ram caught a glint from the corner of his eyes. His breath hitched as he shifted his eyes, catching a red light dot moving in Elliot’s temple.
"Watch out!"
Ram shouted, and without thinking, he tackled Elliot to save him from a sniper shot. And as he did so, the bullet diverted and hit him on the back.
