Chapter 133: The Three Girls Want To Comfort Me?!
Chapter 133: The Three Girls Want To Comfort Me?!
"This is so cringe!"
Saphira slithered out from Verena’s sleeve, her sleek body coiling with unimpressed elegance as she took in the scene. The four girls in the middle of an adorably cheesy reunion.
But this wasn’t just any sappy moment; no, it was a full-on, heart-melting, borderline nauseating display of affection, with every pair of eyes glued to Verena.
"SAPHIIIRA!" Beatrice yelped, lunging forward with such enthusiastic force that she nearly choked the poor snake, who was suddenly twirling in Beatrice’s overexcited grip. "I MISSED YOU!!"
"PFFT! WACK ACK QUACK!" the snake choked, its tiny voice barely escaping as it struggled against Beatrice’s enthusiastic twirling.
"H-Hey, maybe give Saphira a break..." Evelyn reached out, trying to pry the snake free, but Beatrice just kept spinning .
Honestly, Verena knew this mess was far from over, but right now, she just felt like screaming, fuck this school!
And fuck the faculty!
Well, except for Professor Sirius. He was the rare exception.
At this point, she was honestly surprised she hadn’t died yet, given how consistently perilous this whole godforsaken world had been since day one.
[System Notification: Volume One progress: 85% complete!][Thanks to your friendship with Penelope, the story’s pace has accelerated dramatically.]
[Expect fewer bullying scenes ahead—narrative focus is now shifting to fully develop Evelyn’s character. Keep up the great work!]
Speaking of Evelyn...
It had been a while since Verena had seen her or even talked to her.
It felt strange, almost like a mother finally returning to check on her child.
But this time, Evelyn’s eyes sparkled with a new light, and she wasn’t alone because friends surrounded her, filling the space with warmth.
"Eve—"
[System Notification: Affection Update!]
[Target: Evelyn Ashbourne]
[Affection Points: 95]
95 AFFECTION POINTS?!
What the—?
How did the affection points shoot up without her even being around?
There hadn’t been any system updates or secret boosts or anything.
Oh, right...
The whole idea was to make the girl more independent.
Verena was starting to get how this affection meter worked: as long as there was love, even if there was obsession mixed into it, it could rise.
"Evelyn..." she stepped forward and wrapped her arms around the girl.
"V-Verena?!" Evelyn’s cheeks flamed crimson, and the other two girls gawked in surprise.
"What about my hug?" Beatrice pouted dramatically. "I’m your first friend, you know!"
"I’m just glad my child is growing up, can’t you see that?!"
"I’m not a child..."
"I trust you two have been taking good care of her?" Verena asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Of course!" Sera and Beatrice chimed in perfectly in sync.
They caught her up on the latest.
Apparently, Evelyn had gotten even more shameless.
Like the time she pulled down down a whole bunch of noblemen’s pants just because they dared to talk trash about Beatrice—calling her a nerd and, worse, slutty.
All things considered, Evelyn was making progress. She was learning to hold back, to speak up for herself, and actually move forward.
Verena could feel the change too.
Thank the stars her personality no longer revolves around some love interest...
"I... I’ll keep being cool, just like you said," Evelyn mumbled, clearly cringing at her own words.
"I’m pretty sure you taught her how to say all that cringe stuff," Sera shot back, half-laughing.
After their little reunion, the girls pitched in to help Verena settle into the dorm. folding her clothes, organizing everything neatly into drawers and boxes.
Meanwhile, Saphira was stretched out on the bed, snoozing like some pampered housecat who didn’t bother paying rent or utilities.
Honestly, so much had been happening that Verena hadn’t even gotten the slightest break.
She was surprised she’d managed to endure this much, especially since the whole novel was barely a fraction finished.
Suddenly, her vision blurred, her breath hitched, and her knees almost gave out.
"V-Verena?! Are you okay?!" Beatrice reacted instantly, pressing a steadying hand against Verena’s stomach to keep her from falling.
"What happened?!" Evelyn hurried around to the other side, while Sera just stood there, utterly baffled.
"Nothing... I’m just... exhausted from everything," Verena muttered, voice barely above a whisper.
She hadn’t expected this, didn’t expect the strange comfort that followed.
Her head ended up resting on the combined thighs of the three girls.
Not her idea at all. They’d been bickering over whose lap she should take.
But, warm and soft as it was, she still felt a restless flutter beneath the surface.
What the fuck?
Why does this moment feel... eerily familiar?
From below, Verena didn’t even need to squint. No way.
Not when Beatrice’s gigantic boobs hovered above her like a makeshift umbrella, blocking the light from her eyes.
"Is this really necessary...?" she muttered.
"Yes!" came the instant, unanimous reply from all the girls.
Sera was the first to peel away, leaving Verena one pillow lighter. She grabbed a glass of water and shoved it into Verena’s hand. "Drink it, you dipshit," she snapped, flustered and clearly embarrassed by the whole situation.
Wow... so lovable... Verena thought, rolling her eyes but secretly amused.
"I think Verena needs sleep..." Evelyn suggested, her voice gentle.
"No, she needs food," Beatrice countered with a confident nod.
"Are you two brainless? She just needs some fresh air," Sera groaned, arms crossed .
And just like that, the three of them launched into a dramatic bicker-fest—arguing over who knew Verena best, who met her first, who could comfort her better, and who was clearly the superior caretaker. For a trio hellbent on pampering her, they sure had a funny way of showing it.
"ENOUGH! I’LL JUST DO ALL OF IT!" Verena finally snapped, silencing them in one go.
...In the end, yeah. She really did end up doing all of it herself.
She was spoon-fed warm soup by Beatrice, who wiped her lips afterward with all the grace of a doting nursemaid.
Then came Sera, shoving a glass of water into her hands like it was a life-or-death mission.
They even dragged her out to the balcony for some "fresh air therapy," leaving her there for several long minutes like a wilting houseplant in recovery.
And finally, when she thought she’d get some peace, they tucked her into bed, only for all three of them to shamelessly press up against her like overenthusiastic body pillows. Much to her indignation, of course.
"Seriously, this is all too much..." Verena muttered, already half-suffocated by affection.
"Shush!" Beatrice quickly pressed a finger to her lips. "You’ve been such a dear friend to us—always there when we needed you, always acting like the cool, collected heroine of our messed-up little story..."
Okay, but was this really how you were supposed to comfort a friend?
A little gay, if you ask me...
"Yeah, I hate to admit it," Sera added, scratching her cheek, "but even though I still kinda hate this bitch... I’ve actually learned a lot from you."
Evelyn nodded, hands clasped together. "Same here... I love all of you guys..."
"AWWWWW!" Beatrice squealed, sparkles practically exploding from her eyes.
The group hug somehow tightened, turning into a full-on cuddle pile.
Weren’t they supposed to be comforting her?!
***
"CLARINAAA!!" Verena launched herself at the poor woman the moment she spotted her in the hallway, arms wide like a missile of affection.
"My lady," Clarina muttered dryly as she was tackled, "you make me wish I could perish from embarrassment alone."
"Oh—sorry!" Verena grinned, not sorry at all.
She adored this dynamic.
n a world full of chaotic lunatics and unhinged plotlines, Verena felt like the most normal person around.
But next to Clarina? She felt like an entire mental asylum. And she loved it. Loved having someone more emotionally balanced than her.
It made her insanity feel charming.
But as she clung to Clarina, her eyes caught something—just barely peeking out from beneath the woman’s sleeve: a thin slice wound, wrapped in a neat little bandage.
"What happened there?" Verena asked, instantly serious and pointing at the injury.
"Oh..." Clarina smiled—softly, unusually. "It’s nothing. Just a rather... amusing encounter."
Verena stared. That smile. That gentle smile. "No way..." she gasped, her brain already spiraling. "ARE YOU IN LOVE?!"
"In love?..." a voice chimed in coolly.
Verena slowly turned, realizing they weren’t alone.
Standing right in front of her, tall and composed, was none other than Penelope.
"Ah, m’lady," Clarina said with a small bow, her voice far too calm.
What the actual fuck was going on?
So many things were happening without her again.
"Ah, do not worry," Clarina said smoothly, ever the calm one. "Lady Verena simply misunderstood a certain conversation..."
"Oh? A misunderstanding, you say?" Penelope raised a brow, arms crossing with disdain. "Hmph. Whatever." With a dramatic huff, she turned on her heel and marched off, the air practically shimmering with sass.
Clarina was about to slink away too until Verena swiftly pinched her ear and yanked her back.
"Oi, oi, oi... You’re not slipping away that easily. You better spill what happened," she said, squinting with exaggerated suspicion.
