Chapter 124: Two of the Villainesses Are Infront Of Me?!
Verena’s laughter echoed through the hall, loud and almost mocking in its boisterousness.
It wasn’t exactly an attempt to flatter Isolde, but more of a calculated move to throw her off balance.
After all, a woman like Isolde, dangerous and self-assured, couldn’t possibly have a firm grip on her composure if she wasn’t expecting a bit of mockery.
For a moment, the vice commander’s eyes narrowed, and the silence that was followed by tension.
But then, just as quickly as it had arrived, Isolde’s cold smile returned, the kind of smile that sent shivers down your spine if you weren’t careful.
"You’re a strange one, Verena," Isolde remarked, her voice smooth like honey, but with a sharp edge. "But your little jokes won’t save you."
Verena tilted her head, a playful smirk still on her lips. "Oh, Isolde, you wound me! Of course, I’m not trying to save myself—this is just fun for me. Don’t you know? Some of us actually enjoy a little chaos."
The sharpness in Isolde’s gaze sharpened just a bit more, but she didn’t make a move.
She wasn’t foolish enough to get involved in a battle of wits with someone who had more than a few tricks up her sleeve.
Instead, she leaned in, close enough that her breath brushed against Verena’s cheek, a dangerous move that made the atmosphere grow even more charged.
"I don’t like games," Isolde said, her words low, just above a whisper. "But if it’s a game you want, I’m more than willing to play."
Verena met her gaze without flinching, her eyes gleaming with the challenge. "You might be disappointed. I’m not exactly your usual opponent."
The tension between them was palpable, an invisible rope pulling tight.
Verena’s mind was already working, analyzing every possible outcome.
Isolde was powerful, no doubt about it, and her loyalty to Raphael’s cause was unwavering.
But Verena had something Isolde didn’t—an unpredictable, playful spirit that thrived on pushing boundaries.
And she was good at it.

Until she realizedo she’d been dead wrong about that part.
"I think I’ll join your silly little Novae Covenant," Isolde smirked, casually leaning against the doorway of Verena’s classroom just as Verena stepped out.
"...What?"
Of course this sadistic woman had something up her sleeve.
Knowing her, Verena was either just another brat to break in—or worse, her predatory eyes had found a juicier target. Right on time, Sera emerged from the opposite hallway door. Their eyes met.
And instantly darted away.
"How deliciously awkward," Isolde purred, then boldly took Verena’s hand in full view of Sera.
The poor girl visibly flinched, her face tightening into a bitter scowl. She twitched, as if deciding whether to punch someone or walk away—and finally chose the latter.
Verena stood frozen, watching her retreating back.
Fantastic. She’d just dug herself an even deeper grave.
"What do you actually want?" Verena threw her hand back with a sharp flick, eyeing the woman suspiciously.
"What? I’d never dream of making our dear Commander Raphael abandon his own Novae Covenant," Isolde replied with an airy shrug. "His little murder cult follows him, not me. I’m only there for the fun of it."
Strangely... that actually sounded believable.
"And besides..." She leaned in, voice like velvet. "He really does seem eager to help you."
Another point scored.
Damn it!
"I see..." Verena muttered, narrowing her eyes.
"Well, I doubt you have any other members, so—"
"Actually... I do."
Hours later, as the sun dipped below the academy’s towers, Verena found herself seated in a quiet, shadow-drenched classroom. Before her sat not one, but two of the most notorious villainesses in the novel.
To her left: Penelope, the queen of stereotypical spoiled noble lady villainess roles. To her right: Isolde, the sadist-in-chief with a smile sharp enough to draw blood.
Was this... the Justice League? No, this was the Injustice League, and Verena was apparently their founder.
It made sense as well. After all, all three of them had ended up with tragic, miserable ends.
A true injustice, considering the heroines were just as insufferable but somehow wrapped in glitter and affection.
Obviously, Verena didn’t trust the woman one bit, so she planned to keep a close eye on her. She would observe, test, and maybe throw a few metaphorical rocks.
"You have an interesting taste... picking people just as damaged as you," Isolde remarked, crossing her long legs gracefully and arching a brow. "A pack of strays."
"A stray, you say?" Penelope flipped her hair with theatrical flair. "Darling, I prefer the term exotic, misunderstood purebred with a tragic backstory." She beamed like it was a compliment.
She could absolutely picture the two of them getting along like snooty, middle-aged aristocrats sipping wine and laughing like they owned five yachts and a country estate.
"Ahem," Verena cleared her throat, lightly pressing a fist to her lips. "Welcome... I guess."
"Does your Novae Covenant even have a name?" Penelope asked, one brow raised.
"If it doesn’t, I suggest calling it The Society of Lost Causes and Delusional Optimists," Isolde added sweetly.
Verena smiled, tight-lipped and deadly calm, as if she’d just sat through her tenth meeting of the day and was about to fire someone gently.
"Well," she said, clasping her hands like a true corporate shark in silk, "while I appreciate your... spirited feedback, I’d like to remind you that every successful organization starts with vision, alignment, and strong leadership. Which, lucky for you both, I happen to have in abundance."
Penelope blinked. "Wait, is she... giving us a motivational speech?"
"Possibly.. worse.."
"This Covenant—while currently unnamed—will operate with a flat hierarchy, clear performance metrics, and weekly check-ins for goal-setting and emotional calibration. Conflict resolution will be handled with constructive feedback and a no-bullshit policy. And yes, that includes dramatic sword fights.
Penelope stared. "She has a plan. Like... a real one."
"I even feel a little guilty for mocking her now," Isolde muttered, visibly shaken.
"Good," Verena smiled with corporate precision. "Now then, welcome to the Novae Covenant. You’ll both be receiving your roles, expectations, and personal growth targets by sundown. Orientation begins tomorrow. No latecomers. I dock points."
For a brief second, Penelope and Isolde—two of the Academy’s most chaotic women—stood a little straighter, utterly bamboozled into respect.
