I, the Villain, Want to Save Myself, But the Yandere Heroines Disagree -
Chapter 82 - Great Victory (9/13)
Garibaldi came outside the camp and shouted Martin’s name.
“Is Master Sergeant Martin there? Please come out. We can still talk to each other.”
Martin heard this sentence and stood at the entrance of the camp. His stern gaze looked at Garibaldi, showing no intention of negotiating.
“Master Sergeant Martin, please listen to me. This is all a misunderstanding. Quickly have your unit put down their weapons.”
“And then be captured and tortured by you again, is that right?” Martin said this.
Hearing this sentence, Garibaldi’s face also darkened.
“Martin, I am not negotiating with you. I am ordering you. I gave you a chance before out of respect for your noble status. Don’t fail to seize this opportunity.”
“Apologies. I will not believe anything you say. After all, you never treat your soldiers as human beings.”
Martin said this, and instead began to persuade the surrounding Napoli soldiers.
“Soldiers, your General, while you are suffering from the cold in the freezing winter night, is holding a banquet in his military tent, eating large fish and meat, and drinking alcohol that is specially provided from the rear. Do you know that? If his private enjoyments were converted into your supplies, each of you could have an extra piece of winter clothing, and a small piece of meat in every meal!”
The surrounding soldiers heard Martin’s words and immediately looked at each other. A hint of strangeness appeared in their gaze towards Garibaldi.
It was as if they were asking Garibaldi whether Martin’s words were true.
“Nonsense! Insolent! You are talking utter rubbish!” Garibaldi said this, and his gaze towards Martin also changed.
“In any case, there is no way to talk properly, is that right?! Fine, then just wait for death! Traitors who colluded with the enemy!” Garibaldi said this, and issued the order to attack.
After Garibaldi gave the death order, the two sides finally abandoned the pretense of being former comrades and began a large-scale chaotic battle. In the chaotic battle, the sound of blood splashing between them was incessant.
Garibaldi looked at the defense line the enemy had constructed. He only hoped the battle would end soon. He had a full thirty thousand soldiers on his side. They should be able to defeat the enemy quickly, and then the things he had imagined would not happen.
On the other side, in the camp of the allied forces of Antica, Litte was warming herself by the stove.
Not far from her, Virgil was sitting at a table, looking at the battle reports from the past few days.
“Young Master Litte, why have we stopped advancing these past few days? The Duke and the Imperial Family are urging us. The main army will catch up with the vanguard soon. If we fight like this, I’m afraid the results won’t be very good.”
“We have captured quite a few positions. Everyone is tired. Let’s take a break these past few days,” Litte said this, not caring about the urging from the rear.
Compared to the desire for victory, she believed that a qualified commander should allow the soldiers under their command to be both relaxed and stressed, so that their human potential could be maximized.
“Furthermore, what if something happens on the other side during this time?”
“Young Master Litte, are you still thinking about that officer?”
“Mm, his strength is not bad. He should have been able to do well in the Napoli army, but he only ended up with the title of commander of a cannon fodder unit. Clearly, either he offended someone, or he doesn’t get along with these people.”
“Regardless of the reason, he can become a breakthrough point, can’t he?”
“But there’s been no news for so many days. What if he has already been captured, or is not even thinking of helping us?”
“He won’t. Don’t worry, Brother Virgil. I am very good at judging people.”
“Alright,” Virgil nodded.
Just at this moment, a hurried footsteps sounded from outside the door.
“Report! There is a unit that has run over from Napoli, claiming to have something that Officer Litte needs.”
Virgil and Litte heard this and exchanged a smile.
“See? I told you. I am very good at judging people.”
Then, Litte looked at the messenger.
“Then I will trouble you. Immediately order all units to get up quickly. We can take down Florence City today.”
“Eh? Today?”
“Mm, thank you for your trouble,” Litte said courteously.
...
The battle within the Napoli army’s main camp had been ongoing for three hours. In these three hours, their army had launched continuous attacks on the enemy from four directions, but the defense line the enemy had constructed had hindered their attack. As things stood, the enemy seemed even able to hold out until tomorrow morning.
And just at this moment, the thing Garibaldi least wanted to see finally happened.
“General, look at the firelight in the distance. What is that?”
As expected, at this moment, firelight had appeared in the distance. According to visual estimation, the distance of the firelight from here was definitely no more than fifteen minutes away.
In other words, if he couldn’t resolve the battle within fifteen minutes, the enemy would arrive.
The problem was, his current unit simply couldn’t resolve the battle within fifteen minutes!
He could only pray that the darkness of night would slow the other party’s march a little.
But just as he was thinking this, countless spheres of light suddenly appeared not far away, flying towards the main battlefield.
“It’s over...” Garibaldi muttered to himself after seeing the appearance of these spheres of light.
These spheres of light were magic from mages, flares.
As the name suggests, this was magic used to provide illumination for armies fighting at night.
Depending on the mage’s magic power, a flare in the air could illuminate tens to hundreds of square meters of ground, and the most powerful flares could even illuminate an entire city.
Although the flares before him were not of high quality, they were numerous. After scattering in the air, the light provided by the flares could last for a full three hours.
And ordinary armies didn’t need to use flares much in night battles. Only one kind of unit, without flares, would absolutely be unable to perform at its full capacity at night.
That was heavy cavalry.
