Chapter 14 - The Innate Supreme Treasure — Hunyuan Fan, and the Gained Innate Spirit Seed
Chapter 14: The Innate Supreme Treasure — Hunyuan Fan, and the Gained Innate Spirit Seed
The Hunyuan Fan was forged by refining earth, wind, water, and fire, containing within it a miniature world of chaotic astral winds. One sweep opens the heavens, another brings destruction, a third conceals heavenly secrets, and a fourth shatters order.
“Innate Supreme Treasure?”
Zhong Yue exclaimed, the information flooding his mind causing his eyes to widen instantly.
However, his brow soon furrowed, and he gently shook his head.
“No… it’s not an Innate Supreme Treasure. It’s… half-step?”
Half-step Innate Supreme Treasure — it sounded odd, but it was indeed the truth.
This was because the forty-ninth innate spiritual restriction of the fan was incomplete. It remained in a nascent form, much of it still obscure and unrefined.
Yet, under Zhong Yue’s perception, although this forty-ninth spiritual restriction was only in its embryonic stage, it was still evolving on its own, continuously absorbing spiritual energy to perfect itself.
Perhaps this process would be painfully slow — at least several million years, at most tens of millions — before completion, but it had never ceased for even a moment.
“So be it. Half-step then. To gain an Innate Supreme Treasure at all is fortune enough. Why ask for more?”
Zhong Yue chuckled lightly, no longer dwelling on the matter.
He thought rather freely — had he not waited, all he would have obtained were four top-grade innate spirit treasures.
Now the four treasures had merged into one, becoming an Innate Supreme Treasure. Even if still flawed, it was nonetheless an immense gain.
After all, the difference between a top-grade innate spirit treasure and an Innate Supreme Treasure, while only a word apart, was as vast as the heavens and the abyss.
Take the Hunyuan Fan in his hand as an example: with a single sweep, earth, wind, water, and fire surged violently, destroying order and collapsing the heavens — a power utterly unmatched by any of the four top-grade treasures alone.
What’s more, this Innate Supreme Treasure could conceal heavenly secrets and hide one’s presence — undoubtedly a powerful safeguard for Zhong Yue.
With the great catastrophe of the primordial world fast approaching, who knew what dangers awaited? The ability to obscure fate was an extraordinary advantage.
After toying with the Hunyuan Fan in his hand for a short while, Zhong Yue prepared to refine it.
Suddenly, he froze, his expression puzzled as he looked down at the Banana Tree below.
“Hm? Wait, what’s this?”
The already withered trunk of the Banana Tree looked even more decayed, but in its core, a celestial light radiated. It was this glow that drew Zhong Yue’s attention.
Without time to think, he flickered into motion, appearing instantly before the celestial light.
“This is… a nirvana rebirth?”
Gazing deep into the radiance, Zhong Yue spotted a seed-like object slowly taking form.
Moments later, the light faded, and the tree trunk crumbled entirely to ash, leaving only that single seed lying quietly in place.
Zhong Yue stepped forward and beckoned it into his palm.
The moment the seed entered his hand, the heavenly mechanism revealed itself, and Zhong Yue immediately understood its purpose — a smile spread across his face once more.
“So that’s how it is.”
Zhong Yue smiled gently, summoned the Hunyuan Fan, and launched the seed directly into the miniature world within the fan.
The instant the seed entered, torrents of boundless chaotic energy surged forth, converging upon it.
At the same time, the seed rapidly expanded. As if nourished by the immense influx of energy, it grew into a towering tree in mere moments.
An ancient tree tens of thousands of metres high now stood within the fan’s internal world. Gentle spiritual light rippled out, as though plucking the strings of some invisible zither. The fan’s forty-ninth innate restriction began to evolve at a visibly accelerated pace.
As it turned out, this seed and the fan were a set.
Sensing the impending crisis of the cosmos, the original Innate Banana Fan underwent nirvana, sacrificing its essence to forge the Hunyuan Fan, while itself returned to its origin, becoming a seed.
In the original timeline, this process had failed — before it could succeed, it was seized by Minghe, Laozi, and others, resulting in total failure.
But this time was different. The entire tree had fallen into Zhong Yue’s hands, allowing its nirvana to succeed.
And with the seed planted and resonating with its own essence, it had finally elevated the Hunyuan Fan into the ranks of true Innate Supreme Treasures.
“In this world, every sip and every bite is predestined. Fate… is truly marvellous.”
Zhong Yue looked at the fan in his hand with admiration. Although it was still perfecting itself, the time required had been drastically reduced.
According to his estimate, it would take only one hundred thousand years for the fan to become fully complete — a true Innate Supreme Treasure.
One hundred thousand years seemed long, but to the current Zhong Yue, it was but a fleeting moment. He could wait.
Putting away the Hunyuan Fan, Zhong Yue no longer remained in Buzhou Mountain to seek more treasures, but flew straight toward its outer region.
While the Banana Fan had matured, Hongjun had already completed his second sermon. The entire primordial world had become lively again. Buzhou Mountain had become a hotspot — Zhong Yue dared not linger.
Yet sometimes, when fate arrives, it cannot be stopped.
Just as he left the great formation, not far ahead, a glint of spiritual light flashed past the corner of Zhong Yue’s eye.
Turning to look closely, he saw only emptiness.
However, Zhong Yue showed no confusion. Instead, he immediately activated his Golden Eyes of Illusion-Piercing.
In an instant, the void revealed itself.
In the distance, divine light rolled like mist, sharp gengjin* energy gathered densely, transforming the region into an ancient battlefield
At the centre of the ancient battlefield, a single spirit pearl floated quietly, suspended mid-air. Countless laws of the Dao extended from it, weaving a vast formation around it that obscured its presence entirely.
Zhong Yue arrived before the great formation and, after a brief inspection, drew his own conclusions.
“Innate Geng Metal Formation… If there’s no mistake, that spirit pearl within must be the Innate Metal Spirit Pearl.”
He smiled lightly, then began the process of breaking the formation.
He had already acquired two of the Five Elemental Formations and, blessed with defiant insight beyond the norm, this Geng Metal formation was naturally of little challenge to him.
In merely a few short years, Zhong Yue had stepped across the threshold and into the array.
As with his earlier acquisition of the Wood Spirit Pearl, within the domain of this grand formation, Zhong Yue again harvested an abundance of rare natural treasures. His gains could only be described as overflowing.
“With the gold, wood, and earth pearls now in hand… it seems there is real hope of collecting all five Innate Elemental Spirit Pearls.”
He stroked his chin thoughtfully, a smile slowly curling across his lips.
A single Innate Spirit Pearl was merely a top-grade innate treasure — valuable, yes, but only one among many. However, if all five pearls were gathered, they could be fused into an ultimate-grade innate treasure — a supreme artefact, whose power would be leagues beyond any single one alone.
Of course, this was merely a passing thought for Zhong Yue, and he did not dwell on it further.
Though he now held three spirit pearls, and it appeared the full set was within reach, in truth, it remained a far-off dream — he had no idea where the remaining two were.
Tucking away the three pearls, Zhong Yue wasted no time and immediately sped northwards, heading for the northern region of the Primordial Realm.
The essence veins of both the Western and Eastern regions had already been fully refined — it was now time to examine the North.
Even though his foundation had already transformed into that of a top-tier innate divine being, who would ever complain of having a foundation too deep?
Moreover, refining the essence of the land would benefit not just his cultivation, but also his understanding of the Great Dao — a path he would undoubtedly continue to walk.
