I regressed and became the Sword Ice King -
Chapter 395 - 395- Festival 126- Raid on a Rainy Night 65
Every ending is a beginning.
A surge of nausea assaulted the duo as they stepped out from the other end of the Portal.
Transport magic was taking its toll on their nervous systems while they stood and gazed for a few seconds in their new location.
It wasn't that difficult to perceive their surroundings. After all, it was one they had seen, not once, nor twice. But, on multiple occasions over the years.
Professors weren't just given that title because of their strength, after all.
They needed to meet the Headmaster frequently in his office. That way, they get investigated and scored for their efforts in becoming Professors.
"Hmm…." Katherin groaned slightly as her vision, once blurry, began to clear. It became vividly clear soon, and she was soon inspecting the room.
Its familiarity sent a shiver of deja vu through her skin.
It crept up, forming goosebumps that disappeared as quickly as it appeared.
Turning towards the main desk, her eyes narrowed.
Seated above, on his floating chair and table set while sipping a cup of tea was no other than Rhabanz Dreau.
A scorching sensation grew in her abdomen. Spreading forth with clawed-like rageful limbs.
"You…." She growled.
For a second, her vision turned crimson, but a subtle shift in her peripheral vision reduced it by just a bit.
With curiosity, she turned to the movement, and her eyes flared open in surprise, for just a moment.
Crown also turned in the same direction. Surprise was etched on his face as the image of the two figures seated in a calm tea party reflected over his pupils.
He blinked once. Then turned towards Katherin.
"Am I seeing this right?" He muttered, under his breath.
It wasn't the identity of the second figure that seemed to have taken him aback.
No, it was something else. Something that stood ridiculously too vivid to be ignored.
He turned his head back to the two figures while the latter two turned to them in slow motion.
Gazes meeting at a point, but quickly slipping past them to what actually took his fancy.
Behind them, and all around were screens on display. Images of the ongoing situation in the Academy played out in real-time while they sat and sipped.
Ignorant to the chaos that ran rampant in the Academy. Yet, fully knowing the entirety of what had occurred and what would occur.
The Battle of the Students against the Rebelled Lecturers.
The confrontation between Thalia Jun, Monica Lorientt, Sophie and Felicia Dreau against the Red Peacemaker executive, Mila Jack.
The images of the deconstructed buildings, including the Hostels and the Staff Building.
And finally, the confrontation of Raffaelo Jun, Rita Vinci and Elsie Darkpelt against Morris, second man to Nicho.
The individuals who partook actively in the scenes were revealed within the screens. Zoomed in like a piece of art. Their actions and movements were monitored and kept in check by these two, who seemed inordinately disinterested.
The thought of them knowing that they had separated so they could make their way to the Staff Building and then to the headmaster's office sent a cold chill down Katherin's spine.
Her head tilted slightly to the side. Confusion laced with annoyance with her rage soldered crimson hot.
It was deplorable.
The Headmaster had been watching everything. Including the death of his students, and he had done what? Sip tea?
What absurdity was that?
Her thoughts sprawled in her head as she glanced back at Crown.
Brows furrowed into a knit glare.
"That bastard knows."
She said,
Crown turned to her for a moment, then back at the Headmaster whose gaze was still on them.
A moment of silence hung, then he nudged his head slightly and turned away.
"What do you propose we do?"
Katherins expression knitted. Her gaze narrowed while her tongue trimmed the back of her teeth.
She glanced up at the Headmaster.
A moment of hesitation lingered before taking a bold step forward.
"We do what we came to do." She concluded. A tone, loud and vibrant, that instantly boomed in the room.
The headmaster's gaze remained unphased by her statement. His disinterest was palpable as he took another sip from his tea.
He shook his head and turned away, a slight tug growing across Phestus's lips.
Phestus had been sitting with the Headmaster since he had arrived. Leisurely enjoying his time with the tea and pleasantries laid on the table.
The Headmaster had always had a habit of keeping himself busy with his hobbies. Tea and pastries were one such way and he did so.
A habit that grew from a long line of history, where it all began.
So, on occasions where one would expect others to be worried, concerned, angered or excited. Headmaster Rhabanz would display those emotions by simply sipping his tea.
For a moment, Phestus was lost in the depths of his thoughts. Erasing them, only after he shook his head.
"Are you not going to do something about them?" He asked.
His voice was loud and clear. Enough for the whole room to vividly discern his statement.
Katherin stood still, stretching her arm out slowly as a flicker of light ignited on her grip.
It solidified into a fiery, scarlet wand with a ruby glowing at one end.
"Do what, exactly?" She asked. Her tone is low. Dangerous. Laced with venom. "You know fully well that you can never weed us out, no matter what you do."
Silence.
The Headmaster dropped his tea cup. A soft click echoed in the room as it sat neatly on the ceramic plate.
Then he sighed, an enriching steam slithering through his body and out his mouth. Control took root in his brain, stemming him to a point he grasped with an iron hand.
He glanced at her soon after. His motion was fluid, yet slow. Impossible to discern.
The duo simply watched in silence. Muscles clasping tightly against bones. Tendons taunt while mana ravages through their body.
A continuous supply of energy, ready to fire at any given moment. Their hearts raced with a steady, powerful pump.
Blood surges into their veins with the injection of Adrenaline.
All that was needed now was the go-ahead. Not by words, nor by actions. But simply by the idea of what it would be.
The Headmaster held their tensed expressions with a deplorable gaze. Literally looking down on them, and the entirety of their flock.
"You must be joking." He stated. "Do you seriously think that taking over the Academy will venture your way into taking over the Kingdom?"
Katherin scoffed.
"Our plans are for us to know, and for you to never understand. Rhabanz." She stated slowly. Her eyes narrowed as her lips flinched into a slight smirk. "Simply step down, and watch from the bottom how we rise to the top."
The Headmaster turned away with a sigh.
"Fools." He said in resignation. "You do not know what you wish for, neither do you understand what you seek. The freedom you want is not the right freedom."
"What bullshit are you spouting?"
Crown interjected with his foot stomping hard on the floor.
A low vibration spread through it. A quake from the intense force applied on the floor that trailed down from the spot to the corners of the Room– if it had corners.
A slight shockwave erupted from the strike, and his leg pulsed with the aftermath of the energy he used on it.
He reeled in, quietly. A subtle flinch in his expression from an unexpected pain.
Lifting his leg slightly, his gaze swept through the floor, and his eyes narrowed at it.
Spotless. That was the only term he could use to describe it.
Crown had used enough power and energy to break through concrete and even reinforced glass, but here he was. Dealing absolutely no damage to the floor of the room.
He groaned slightly as he looked back up, pushing the gnawing feeling that came with it.
"Look at what you're doing, Headmaster. The students are dying and you're here, sipping tea? Is this the freedom you talked about?"
He paused. Pupils flicked with intensity while he gripped his fists tightly.
"You don't deserve the pedestal you put yourself in. Your indifference to the well-being of the students would be enough reason to force you down."
Phestus' expression twisted.
His brows arched up while his lips curled downwards as he glanced at them. Folding his hands with a strong intent, he continued to lay his presence out on them.
He was one of the few students who used the system and were somehow equal to or even stronger than the Professors.
His presence was definitely worthy to be noted off, because if he acts. Then there would be a lot more complications to their plan.
"Who started it?" He asked. His tone dropped to a low timber as the duo turned to them. "Who started the massacre? We or….you?"
Katherins glare intensified.
"This doesn't concern you, Phestus. Stay out of it."
"Um, Katherin. You let a world-known antagonist of the Kingdom into the Academy. Sealed the fourth and fifth years Hostel. Attacked the first years. Kidnapped and assaulted Non-system users including nobles and even members of the Great Families."
He took a brief pause. His contemplating gaze took a curt turn to a condescending one.
"And you talk of Concern? If it doesn't concern me, then I would be put in the same position as you two."
They hesitated.
Just for a second, but that flicker of doubt died down as soon as it came.
Katherin sighed. She shook her head and eased her muscles and tendons.
Controlling the flow of mana to a slow rush within her system.
"It doesn't matter at this point. We came here for a purpose, and we won't leave without achieving it."
Phestus nodded, adjusting his glasses as he turned away.
"Then you should have started with that instead of that demeaning act just now. Act as part of a Rebelling Cult and not concerned staff. You no longer belong to this Academy."
The duo's expression remained unphased by his statement.
Words easily reach an ear and go out the next without any intent to process them.
It didn't matter what he said. It didn't matter what anyone said.
Rhabanz Dreau had to go, and they would bring anyone else who protected him.
Adjusting their limbs, Crown tensed his muscles to a taunt and charged into the air, straight at their target. There was no longer any room for conversations. No grip hold for a method to rationalize their action.
Just, more chaos.
Kstherin watched in silence as she flicked her wand, ready to ignite a spell.
When a subtle blur shifted in her peripheral.
With a sudden shift in expression, her head tilted to the source, and her eyes bulged open in shock.
The figure phased through the air in a heartbeat. Reaching Crown before he could even put enough distance between himself and the ground.
And crashed straight into the man with brutal efficiency.
BOOM!
Crown swept through the air like a twig. Crashing into the solid floor with a metallic explosion.
Pain and rebound strikes assaulting his bones as he screams out from the overstimulation of his nerves.
The figure landed in front of him, with Katherin's gaze tracing his movement.
Shock. Tension. Realization. Pain. All etched in contorted strokes on her face.
Her lips quivered as she muttered.
"Ca–Cadwin?"
