I Received System to Become Dragonborn
Chapter 895 - 895: Cultist Death

Erend had intended to drag the fight out and pull information from the silver-tattooed cultist bit by bit. But that plan vanished the moment he felt the pulse from the temple that feels like a scream from the world itself. Whatever was inside, it was starting to break. But somehow, something still able to hold it back.

But they were out of time. He can't wait anymore longer.

He clenched his jaw. Eccar had mentioned adventurers were inside, doing their part. It must be them who had prevented thaat thing to break free. Erend respected that. But he also knew the truth that this wasn't a battle mortals were meant to survive. He and Eccar had to end this now.

The silver-tattooed cultist called Varzek, that was the name Erend had caught earlier, howled in rage, his sword shimmering with venomous green Magic as he slashed at Erend again and again with wild and furious attack.

Erend stood his ground. He let the power rise. A moment later the crimson fire blaze across his body in thick waves. It crackled over his black-and-red scales.

Varzek's assault faltered immediatly. Even through his helmet, Erend saw the shock bloom in his eyes.

Then the cultist snarled after maanaged to pushed past it, and swung again.

Erend raised his scaled hand and caught the blade.

The moment steel met Dragonborn scale, the crimson fire surged along Erend's arm. It crawled up the sword and burning the green-tinged Magic.

Varzek shouted, trying to pull back. But it was too late.

CLANG!

The blade split in two. Heat shimmered in the air between them.

Varzek stared in disbelief, but Erend moved faster. His hand lashing out to grip the cultist by the throat.

He didn't crush it do death yet. Just squeezed hard enough to make the man slump into unconsciousness. He dropped the cultist to the dirt.

But the eldest cultist had already begun his attack after seeing his subordinate got defeated.

His twisted staff raised, its green gem pulsing.

"You dare…" he hissed.

Thick and barbed vines erupted from the earth wrapping Erend's body like snapping chains. They held for a while—until fire surged again, and Erend incinerated them with eaase. Flames curled in his eyes.

Another wave of vines surged. There were a lot of them now.

Meanwhile Eccar on the other side ducked under a brutal sweep of the spear from the remaining cultist, sweat gleaming down his brow.

"This is taking too long…"

Then the eldest cultist shouted from Erend's posititon, "Kravon! Use it now. Varzek has been defeated—there is no more holding back!"

The spear-wielder—Kravon—gritted his teeth, a growl rising in his throat. His body began to pulse with dark green energy.

Eccar raised his arms with sparks of eaerth energy dancing along the edge. "Fine. Let's see whats that all of your power looks like."

Kravon's body ignited in dark green Magic that surging around him like burning his body. His form pulsed with unnatural strength, his muscles bulging, and his veins glowing.

The spear in his hands lengthened, reshaped by the raw power now flooding through him—its jagged edge twisted and now filled with with pure alien Magic came from another world.

With a snarl, he lunged.

Eccar met him head-on without hesitation.

Stone erupted beneath his feet as he dashed forward, his clawed hands aglow with the power of earth and force.

He blocked the first spear thrust with his arm. Sparks flew everywheree. The ground cracked where they clashed.

Kravon bellowed and swung faster this time, his corrupted power driving his movements with near-mindless ferocity.

Eccar ducked, spun his body, then surged up with an uppercut from his clawed hand—slamming into Kravon's gut.

The impact launched the cultist backward, but he twisted midair and stabbed his spear into the ground, anchoring himself.

"You think I fear death?" Kravon roared, blood trailing from his lips. "I was reborn in the Old King's shadow!"

He charged again, somehow he now become even faster, his spear spinning like a whirlwind of venomous light.

Eccar parried it twice but a third strike grazed his ribs, cutting through his Dragon scale. But of coursee, it did not penetrate him.

Eccar winced but held his ground. "I've fought a lot of gods before. You're just another one in the pile."

He stomped the ground, and stone erupted—massive slabs lurching upward like jagged teeth.

Kravon tried to leap back, but Eccar followed him with a roar and broke through his defenses. His gauntlet slammed into the spear's shaft, splintering it immediately.

Kravon shouted and now suddenly pulled a short blade from his side, lunging again—but Eccar was already inside his guard.

He ducked the slash and drove his clawed hand straight through Kravon's chest. The attack hit him hard.

The green glow sputtered. Kravon froze with eyes wide.

Eccar didn't speak. He just twisted his arm and ripped the corrupted heart free.

Dark Magic burst from the wound and dissipated into the air with a faint wail.

Kravon dropped, lifeless.

Eccar let the heart fall beside him.

"I actually didn't want to kill you," he muttered, wiping blood from his face. "But we're out of time."

He turned toward Erend, who had just burned away the last wave of vines and now stood, chest rising and falling, flames dancing across his shoulders. Their eyes met.

Erend gave Eccar a sharp nod. That was all Eccar needed, he turned and sprinted toward the temple without a word, boots pounding over scorched ground.

The eldest cultist snarled, his eyes widening as he saw Kravon's lifeless body with a gaping hole in his chest. Rage twisted his face and he let out a loud snarl.

"HAAAAAA!!!"

He raised his staff to stop Eccar but it was too late. Erend broke free from the last of the vines, his body wreathed in crimson fire, and lunged forward like a blazing meteor.

The cultist barely had time to react before Erend slammed into him with crimson fire flaring violently on impact.
