Chapter 190: Chapter190-The High-Ranking Woman of the Aberration Church
Amidst the tens of thousands of fervent devotees, Thomas turned solemnly to face the temple. With a deep bow, he declared:
"Thank you, O great Deus Initium!"
He bowed once more in reverence, leading the way.
The other devotees immediately followed suit, bowing toward the temple, their expressions brimming with devout sincerity.
Even the Vassal Gods—James, Tommy, and the others—lowered their heads in reverence. Everything they had achieved, all their strength and glory, stemmed from the guidance and empowerment of Deus Initium.
Without Deus Initium, they would never have reached their current status.
At the same moment, beings like the Zerg Queen, the Nine-Headed Wolf Pup, and many more also bowed deeply, their gestures equally solemn and respectful.
Meanwhile, Enke and his companions stood at a distance, watching this act of collective reverence directed at the temple. The shock on their faces deepened as realization took root in their hearts.
"He’s not even Deus Initium himself... A being that powerful is merely under the command of Deus Initium? Then just how terrifying must the true Deus Initium be?"
Enke’s mind reeled with this revelation.
And he wasn’t alone—his four companions stood just as dumbfounded, the implications settling heavily in their thoughts.
After all, in their eyes, the Sky God and these other deities already possessed power far beyond even the most dangerous spellbeasts in the city of Fioria.
Yet such terrifying beings were not the highest authority. There existed an even mightier presence above them all.
If they could truly form a bond with Deus Initium, perhaps even earn his favor, then the threats of Fioria’s spellbeasts could be completely wiped out with ease!
Given how powerful his subordinates were, Deus Initium’s own combat prowess was undoubtedly beyond comprehension.
As they contemplated this, Enke and the others felt an even deeper reverence and curiosity toward Deus Initium stir within their hearts.
At that very moment, they even seemed to hear whispers—faint, ethereal murmurs echoing up from the depths of Hell itself.
It was as though countless ghostly voices were also offering worship to the great Deus Initium.
Now, whether they were human devotees, mystical spellbeasts, ghostly entities, or even deities themselves—
All of them, without exception, were directing their unwavering loyalty toward Deus Initium.
The faith energy radiating from each of them took on different hues.
Human belief was the most vast and pure, appearing as a golden ocean—boundless, infinite, and unimaginably radiant.
The belief of the mystical spellbeasts was far less in volume, yet dazzling like precious gems, as if they had met the one entity they were destined to serve for eternity.
As for the ghosts, their faith manifested as a deep, obsidian black, bearing an air of haunting mystery and void-like calm.
The faith of the deities themselves was rare and prismatic, forming streaks of rainbow-colored light that surged into the sky. Though few in number, their radiance was unmatched and unmistakable.
These multicolored beams of faith energy surged into the heavens, converging upon the grand temple and causing it to appear even more majestic and divine.
Enke and his companions were awe-struck by this sight, a look of admiration unconsciously forming on their faces.
"Deities...!"
"We’re really witnessing actual deities!"
At this moment, any doubts they had ever held about the existence of gods were utterly dispelled.
Meanwhile, at the outskirts of the city, numerous refugees raised their heads toward the sky, eyes locked on the four-colored beams ascending into the firmament. Their expressions were filled with astonishment.
Though the city had long been whispering rumors of Deus Initium’s existence, to many he had still been nothing more than a myth conjured by human imagination.
How could a deity truly exist in the real world?
...
Under the watchful gaze of countless onlookers, Thomas, having finished his bow, swiftly reached into his robes and pulled out a packet of sacred incense. He placed it reverently upon the sacrificial altar before the temple.
"Burning incense, once again we give thanks to the great Deus Initium!" he declared aloud.
Immediately, the other devotees followed suit, taking out the incense they had long prepared, lifting it high above their heads and bowing once more in unison.
As wave after wave of incense was presented, the divine point above the temple radiated with dazzling brilliance. On the newly constructed city walls, shimmering order runes began to manifest, growing even clearer under the power of the incense offerings.
All the residents within the city felt a tremendous pressure forming in the air, an aura that grew more intense with each passing second.
Yet this forming pressure had also caught the attention of a woman who had just arrived at the outskirts of the city.
She was strikingly beautiful and young, adorned in garments as elaborate as a royal peacock’s plumage. She stood out in the crowd like a gemstone among gravel, capturing the gaze of many nearby.
Wherever she walked, attention followed. Emotions stirred in those around her—longing, awe, even confusion—all seemingly triggered by her subtle movements.
But the woman paid no heed to these stares. Instead, she turned toward the direction of the temple and licked her lips with undisguised greed.
"Every god carries an intense concentration of order energy. If I could devour one... the boost to my level would be immense."
To her, this was the ultimate shortcut to power.
Until now, she had never encountered an actual deity, and so her ambitions had remained aimed at Aberrations.
But now, she could truly feel the presence of divine beings—authentic deities. And that sensation was driving her wild with hunger.
"The order fragments within Aberrations are nothing compared to the essence of a true god..."
She narrowed her eyes, already envisioning the explosive rise in her strength once her plan succeeded.
Yet after a brief moment of consideration, she decided to set her sights not on Deus Initium himself, but rather on the six subordinate deities surrounding the temple. Deus Initium exuded an air of unfathomable depth and danger.
To target him directly from the start would be reckless, maybe even suicidal.
Instead, she would take down his vassals first, one by one—James, Tommy, the Sky God and others.
And when the time was right... Deus Initium would fall too.
With this plan in mind, her greedy eyes danced between the six divine figures, sizing each of them up, judging who would make the easiest prey.
...
Inside the divine statue—
Owen gazed out from within, his attention locked on the woman standing just beyond the boundaries of Annasi City.
To most onlookers, she was perfect—a flawless beauty, seductive and regal.
But in Owen’s eyes, she reeked of unbridled greed.
Her gaze lingered on the Sky God and the other deities with ravenous intensity, so sharp and persistent that even at this distance, he could feel the hunger in her eyes.
"There’s order energy on her as well. She must be a member of the Aberration Church," Owen mused. "But her aura is far denser than the others I’ve encountered. Within that organization, she’s likely a major figure."
"And now she’s daring to set her sights on James and the others? What audacity. How entertaining."
Owen narrowed his eyes.
He had some history with the Aberration Church. They had probed him in the past, tested his boundaries.
But now they were planning to strike at his subordinates?
They clearly no longer feared him.
Still, Owen didn’t plan to act immediately.
He was in the midst of an ascension—a process that would take roughly half a month to complete. Until then, he preferred to remain still, watch, and observe.
Who knew? This woman’s presence might attract even more members of the Aberration Church.
And when the time was right—when his transformation was complete—he would bring down his full wrath and wipe them out in one fell swoop.
To be honest, even now Owen possessed more than enough power to defeat her.
His current Godhood-tier strength already rivaled the value of a tier-8 awakening. And with the Realm of Immortality, a million divine points, and the fearsome might of his fusion technique, he was nearly unmatched.
Once he advanced to the level of a 3-star Ancient God, even if seven or eight peak tier-8 awakeners attacked him simultaneously, they would only be offering themselves up as sacrifices.
Not even the Caesar Empire, in its golden age, could have gathered so many top-tier awakeners in one place.
Smiling faintly at this thought, Owen finally withdrew his gaze from the woman.
He would let her make the first move.
For now.
After all, the woman was merely projecting a specialized clone into the city as a probe.
It was still too early for a confrontation.
"Thomas and the others actually managed to bring forth a tier-6 Sacred Vestige this time... That’s a rare find."
"Even though it was delivered indirectly through the human factions hiding in Fioria, the fact that such a priceless artifact was offered in one go speaks volumes about their resources and determination."
Owen glanced over the sacrificial altar, where offerings had been placed in abundance.
A satisfied smile curled on his lips.
Though many items had been presented, under divine law, only a single sacrificial item could be amplified a hundredfold through the sacred order.
"O great Deus Initium!" Thomas cried out. "This is the tribute offered by your devout followers! Please, accept it!"
With the ritual completed, his voice rang out clear and loud, echoing through the temple plaza.
