I really didn’t want to lead Ultra Star astray

Chapter 8: Is Fighting Hard? I Learned It at a Glance

Seven’s words stirred up a storm among the onlookers. This guy had only been an Ultraman for a day? That was unscientific!

They’d been Ultramans for thousands of years, alright? They wouldn’t doubt Seven’s words, even if it defied logic! This brought Mu Yang a flood of shock points!

Where did this freak come from?! Did looking odd make you stronger?

After teaching Mu Yang how to fly, Seven quickly left. As he’d mentioned, he needed to discuss things with his brothers. He couldn’t be the only one drained dry, could he? Better to share the burden! Plus, he was curious—how far could Mu Yang grow if he mastered all their physical techniques?

Seven had high hopes for this humble, courteous, and extraordinarily talented disciple!

“Hey, you!” Not long after Seven left, an Ultraman approached, speaking sheepishly.

“Hm?” Mu Yang glanced at him, confirming with a look that he didn’t know this Ultraman. That made sense—the Land of Light had 18 billion Ultramans. It’d be weirder if he did know him.

He smiled warmly and said, “Hello, I’m Boss Ultraman. Just call me Boss!”

“Hi, Boss. I’m Krey. Sorry if this is forward, but how did you manage to master Officer Seven’s techniques so quickly?” Krey asked, a bit embarrassed.

The other Ultramans watched Mu Yang intently, equally curious. As regulars at the training grounds, they were eager to grow stronger and protect cosmic peace!

Hearing Krey’s question, Zero, who had been about to approach, paused. Mu Yang’s talent in physical techniques was remarkable, and Zero was intrigued!

“Is it hard? I just watched and learned. Don’t you all do that?” Mu Yang thought, I can’t exactly tell them I’m cheating with a system, can I?

“!!!” If we could do that, would we be asking you? They didn’t know Mu Yang’s little scheme and took his words as fact, their already numbed hearts boiling with shock again!

“I never practiced these things before. I mostly just read books. The most exercise I got was probably radio calisthenics?” Mu Yang added after some thought.

The Ultramans exchanged glances. Radio calisthenics? What was that? It sounded fancy—why hadn’t they heard of it?

“Um, this is a bit embarrassing, but could you teach us radio calisthenics? We really want to get stronger!” Krey said shyly.

He felt this radio calisthenics must be some secret technique. Asking for it outright, even for noble Ultramans, was a bit awkward.

“No problem at all, but I don’t think it’s very useful!” Mu Yang gazed skyward. These Ultramans were too pure.

Still, if he could shake up the Land of Light, that’d be fun, right?

He pictured a horde of Ultramans dancing to “Come on, let’s get lively!” It seemed absurd before, but seeing it in reality might be cool. The Land of Light lacked entertainment, didn’t it? If it could earn him shock points, Mu Yang didn’t mind shaking up these cosmic workaholics.

“Even if it’s not useful, we’d love to learn!” Krey said quickly.

“Alright, I’ll teach you. It’s simple!”

“Father, is this radio calisthenics really useful?” Zoffy asked, a bit embarrassed. Spying on Mu Yang teaching radio calisthenics felt wrong. He considered apologising later. They’d meant to leave, but curiosity about radio calisthenics kept them there.

Though Zoffy was likely the second-strongest in the Land of Light, he couldn’t see anything special about it.

“No, it is useful!” the Father of Ultra said.

This shocked Zoffy and Seven nearby. Was this the secret to Mu Yang’s instant mastery of Seven’s techniques?

As expected of Father, spotting such profound things so quickly!

“It doesn’t help with combat training, but it relaxes the body! Doing it once or twice daily ensures necessary exercise, which is good for health!” the Mother of Ultra, an authority, added. “Especially for those in the Science and Technology Bureau who barely move. Even Ultramans shouldn’t neglect exercise. I want to negotiate with little Mu Yang to promote radio calisthenics across the Land of Light!”

Her words stunned Zoffy and Seven. They hadn’t expected radio calisthenics to have such benefits, let alone be promoted universally!

But it made sense. Some tech geeks needed exercise. An Ultraman getting fat? That’d be embarrassing.

As for negotiating with Mu Yang instead of just promoting it, wasn’t that obvious? The Land of Light wouldn’t stoop to such underhanded tactics!

Footnotes:

  • 广播体操(guǎngbō tǐcāo): Literally “radio calisthenics,” a set of group exercises historically broadcasted on the radio in China, often performed in schools or workplaces to promote fitness. It’s a simple, choreographed routine, not a combat technique, which makes Mu Yang’s mention humorous to the Ultramans who mistake it for a secret skill.
  • 来啊,快活啊!(lái a, kuàihuó a!): A playful phrase, often from internet memes or pop culture, evoking a lively, carefree vibe. Here, Mu Yang imagines Ultramans dancing to it, adding a comedic, modern twist to the scene.
