I Really Am A Villain
Ch. 50 - Blood Wolf Guard

“Don’t worry, I’ve already reached the seventh stage of the Spirit Meridian Realm. By the time the next Outer Court Disciple Tournament comes around, I’ll definitely rank high,” Xue Mengmeng said confidently.

Baili Xiao nodded with a smile, then walked alone to the summit of Graceful Willow Peak. She gazed at the endless horizon in the distance.

That direction led to Sunshine Village. She murmured softly, “Chu Yang, what are you doing now? Are you thinking of me too...?”

Her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of light footsteps. She quickly turned around and called out, “Aunt.”

Xiao Yuexuan nodded with approval and smiled. “You’ve broken through to the Meridian Forging Realm?”

Baili Xiao nodded. “Yes, I just broke through.”

“I discussed it with the Vice-Lord,” Xiao Yuexuan said with a trace of regret, “and it looks like your engagement to Xu Zimo might not go through.”

“What happened?” Baili Xiao asked, puzzled.

She was very confident in her looks.

Of course, she had absolutely no romantic interest in Xu Zimo. She’d only agreed to the arrangement to secretly leverage the Vice-Lord’s influence.

If she could become the Saintess of the True Martial Sacred Ground, she would gain access to massive cultivation resources. Once she achieved her goals, this meaningless engagement would no longer matter.

Her heart had always belonged to Chu Yang. The True Martial Sacred Ground and Xu Zimo were nothing more than stepping stones in her journey.

Right now, what she needed was power, power that she could borrow from her aunt, and from the sect. Becoming Xu Zimo’s fiancée would give her access to all that.

“Xu Zimo seems to have some reservations,” Xiao Yuexuan said. “But I don’t think it’s a big issue. I believe in you. Once he returns, get closer to him. Boys his age are easily swayed.”

“I understand,” Baili Xiao nodded seriously.

...

Sunlight poured down like a golden veil, casting a warm glow over the world.

Chu Yang, now holding Master Mo’s half jade pendant, left Sunshine Village and began his journey.

After arriving in Profound Origin City, he rested overnight. The next morning, he headed to the military barracks Master Mo had mentioned.

Most cities had military camps. Their job was to defend the city, though they operated independently and weren’t under the local governor’s control.

The barracks were strict and orderly. Soldiers in uniform black armor patrolled the grounds.

“You want to join the military, kid?” two brawny men at the registration desk asked, amused.

“Do you know someone named Du Tianyin?” Chu Yang asked.

“What do you want with General Du?” one of the soldiers asked more seriously.

“Master Mo Tianqi told me to find him,” Chu Yang said, showing the half jade pendant Mo had given him.

“Wait right here,” the soldier’s expression changed, and he rushed inside.

Soon, a hearty laugh echoed from within the barracks.

A tall, imposing man with long black hair and overwhelming presence strode out.

“You’re old Mo’s nephew?” he asked.

He wore intricately designed black armor with a battle sword at his waist. His neck was scarred, a clear sign of someone who had fought many battles.

“Yes, Master Mo sent me here to find you,” Chu Yang said, handing over the pendant.

“If you’re Old Mo’s nephew, there’s no need to be so formal. Call me Uncle Du,” Du Tianyin said, patting Chu Yang on the shoulder.

“Hello, Uncle Du,” Chu Yang greeted respectfully.

“If Mo sent you to me, he must want you to train in the military,” Du said. “Anyone he recommends, I trust. If you’re ready, report in today.”

Chu Yang nodded and followed Du Tianyin into the barracks.

Inside were rows of tents, neatly arranged in dark green. Shirtless warriors trained by jumping with huge stones, while soldiers practiced swordplay, clashing blades with explosive force. Sword energy slashed four meters out; saber strikes boomed as they shattered the air.

Chu Yang registered his details and was handed a military token.

“From today, you are a member of the Blood Wolf Guard,” the issuing soldier declared firmly. “While you’re with us, you must follow every rule to the letter.

“If the day comes when you wish to leave, return this token.

“This isn’t just proof of your membership, it represents your honor and legacy for life.”

Chu Yang nodded seriously and accepted the token with both hands.

He was then given a uniform and two Profound-grade Meridian Techniques.

The uniform was the Blood Wolf Guard’s standard issue: a deep black robe with a blood-red hood.

Putting it on, Chu Yang felt quite imposing.

The two Profound-grade techniques were: Blood Blade Slash and Blood Origin Palm

Every new recruit to the Blood Wolf Guard learned these two techniques. To access more powerful techniques, they would need to complete missions and earn merit points.

Military rank within the Blood Wolf Guard was clearly defined:

New recruits began as regular soldiers. Above them were Ten-Squad Leaders. Then came Hundred-Squad Leaders, Thousand-Squad Leaders, and finally, Generals.

Du Tianyin, being extremely busy, handed Chu Yang over to a Thousand-Squad Leader, who would oversee his training and assignments.

Rather than keeping Chu Yang under his direct protection, which would’ve been safer, Du likely agreed with Mo Tianqi that Chu Yang needed to grow through real combat.

That Thousand-Squad Leader then assigned Chu Yang to a squad under a Ten-Squad Leader.

Each small squad had ten members, including the leader. Chu Yang’s new squad had an open spot due to a recent casualty, so he was placed there.

He introduced himself to the group. Most of the others were older men. Only one youth appeared close to his age.

After introductions, the younger man approached him and said with interest, “I’m Tong Guan. Want to be my little brother?”

“No thanks,” Chu Yang replied, shaking his head. He was more focused on mastering the two new techniques.

“Think carefully. If you agree, I’ll look out for you on missions. Otherwise, rookies like you are the ones who die first,” Tong Guan said, clearly threatening him.

“Get lost,” Chu Yang said coldly, giving him a look.

“You, you’d better watch yourself,” Tong Guan’s face darkened. He gave Chu Yang a hateful glare before storming off.

...

Chu Yang didn’t take it to heart. He sat down and began studying Blood Origin Palm.

“Kid, you ever killed someone before?” asked an older man from the squad, cleaning his blade beside him.
