I Might Have Fallen in Love With My Childhood Sweetheart -
Chapter 97 - 93 F University
Chapter 97: Chapter 93 F University
After the physics class ended, there was still one more day of classes before the May Day holiday?
Li Qingran, Ruan Ruan, and Zheng Chunming still hadn’t returned from lunch together in the afternoon.
Xie Ying’an had already returned to the classroom ahead of them. He sat down at his seat and habitually opened Li Qingran’s backpack to check.
Sure enough, there were two more pink and blue love letters inside the backpack. Sure enough, someone had taken advantage of Li Qingran’s absence during lunch to stuff them in there.
Xie Ying’an expressionlessly took out the two love letters, tore them into pieces, and threw them into the trash can, then placed Li Qingran’s backpack back in its original position.
The whole set of actions was clean and efficient; it was obvious he had done this many times before.
Li Ce, who was behind him, watched all this with his mouth half-open in surprise, though he was actually no longer surprised by it. Ever since the day Xie Ying’an found a love letter in Li Qingran’s backpack, he had made a point to check it every day at lunchtime.
Xie Ying’an turned around and asked Li Ce, "Did you see who put them in there?"
The young man’s face was somber, with signs of an impending storm in his eyes.
Li Ce quickly shook his head: "No, no, Brother An, I just got back too."
Xie Ying’an glanced at the classroom’s surveillance camera and said nothing. He then rummaged through his own desk, and anything that did not belong to him was thrown into the trash can as well.
Only after doing all this did Xie Ying’an turn around to leave. As he passed by Li Ce, he gave him his usual indifferent side-eye.
Li Ce made a zipping motion across his lips, sycophantically saying, "Don’t worry, Brother An, I didn’t see anything."
That seemed to satisfy Xie Ying’an, who then departed.
By the time Li Qingran and the others returned, most of the people in the class were also back.
Zheng Chunming was still beaming from something exciting Ruan Ruan had told her, and until she sat down at her seat, her smile was still broad.
Li Ce glanced at Zheng Chunming several times, noticing her never-ending smile, and teased, "Why are you laughing like you’ve been tickled by a fart?"
Zheng Chunming’s smile froze, and she glared at Li Ce with a death stare, "Toilet paper, did you just spew crap out of your mouth?"
Li Ce shrugged and spread his hands in feigned helplessness, "Chunni, it’s no fun if you’re like this. You can’t even humbly accept a bit of constructive criticism. It’s going to be really hard for you to get ahead like that..."
The two weren’t on the same wavelength and after a few exchanges, they started hitting each other with their books.
This was already a normal occurrence in the classroom; it wasn’t a real fight, just playful banter between classmates.
By the time Li Qingran turned around to see what was happening, Li Ce had already thrown down his book and was acting like a cultured and refined young gentleman, letting Zheng Chunming smash her book on him and even shrugging his shoulders in a helpless gesture.
It was as if he was saying to Li Qingran: Look, girls are always so unreasonable.
Li Qingran: "..."
It’s really not good to bust the bubble, seeing that you have a deskmate like Zheng Chunming, dear sir, I already know your true colors.
Before the first class started, Old Wu came over to give a brief overview of the arrangements for the trip to University F on May 2nd and also forcefully served up a large bowl of motivational ’chicken soup’ for the students to drink.
It was only then that the competition venue was confirmed to be at University F.
After Old Wu left, Ruan Ruan ran over and sat in Xie Ying’an’s seat, curiously asking Li Qingran, "Where’s my Brother An?"
Li Qingran shook her head, "I don’t know, I haven’t seen him since we came back from lunch."
Ruan Ruan quickly forgot about the topic of her Brother An and instead excitedly started talking about Li Qingran’s upcoming visit to University F.
"Ranran, this time when you go, you absolutely have to take a bunch of photos for me. My mom already said that with my grades, getting into Q University is out of the question, but if I work hard, I might have a shot at F University."
When it came to F University, Ruan Ruan got a bit excited: "I even specifically searched for photos of F University online before, always feel like it’s so beautiful it doesn’t seem real. Ranran, whether I should give my all for F University this time totally depends on you."
Qingran was somewhat helpless: "The standards for F University are so high, and the acceptance rate isn’t low either. You better not wait for the photos and instead focus on studying hard."
Ruan Ruan expressed her refusal: "Seeing is believing. That’s the place that might waste three years of my youth. I’ve got to weigh my options carefully."
Zheng Chunming, who had been listening to them talk, joined in. She was even more gossipy than Ruan Ruan and had already become a fan girl: "Qingran, I’m not asking for much, just casually snap a few photos of the upperclassmen for me."
Qingran: "..."
Isn’t that the infringement of someone’s portrait rights? And you call that ’not asking much’?
Zheng Chunming had a look of longing on her face: "I heard that the upperclassmen at F University are all super handsome. If they really are like the rumors say, I’d be willing to stake my old life on getting into F University for the next year and more."
Ruan Ruan agreed: "Actually, our standards for good-looking guys aren’t that high. Ranran, as long as they can match Brother An’s looks, right?"
Qingran was shocked: "And you’re calling that ’not asking much’?"
Xie Ying’an is the author’s darling in this book. Who in the whole of F High can match his good looks?
Zheng Chunming and Ruan Ruan looked at each other, both faces helpless: "What can we do? When you’re used to feasts, how can you go back to plain soup and simple dishes?"
With that analogy, Qingran was left speechless, suddenly feeling a little weary.
"Forget it," she sighed resignedly, "I’ll do my best to try."
Taking photos of scenery or something and incidentally capturing someone’s figure in them shouldn’t count as violating portrait rights, right?
While the three were talking, Xie Ying’an entered the classroom from the back door. Ruan Ruan bent down and scurried away.
As she left, she didn’t forget to whisper a reminder to Qingran: "Ranran, the thing I mentioned isn’t that important. Just take care of Zheng Chunming’s request and it’s okay. But remember, when you take photos, keep it behind Brother An’s back..."
Qingran had an indescribable expression.
She vaguely remembered that in the book, Li Qingran had relied on her husband’s connections and ended up studying at F University.
But Qingran had also tried to calm herself and recall. Yet whether it was Professor Lin’s appearance or the scenes within F University’s campus, she couldn’t remember a thing, as if it had never happened.
All she could remember vaguely was that indeed, Li Qingran had married the young Professor Lin. Anything beyond that was merely mentioned in passing in the extras section about their children. No more than that.
When Qingran came back to her senses from her memories, the English teacher had already arrived in the classroom.
Xie Ying’an rested his chin in his hand and stared at her. When she snapped out of it, he sat up straight and reached for his English book.
Qingran too flipped open the English book she had prepared beforehand, but her demeanor was still a bit absent-minded.
After a while, Xie Ying’an seemed to ask casually, "What are you daydreaming about that has you so lost in thought?"
Qingran paused in her flipping of the book, replying softly: "Thinking about whether to aim for F University for the competition."
All of a sudden, Xie Ying’an laid his hand on Qingran’s English book: "Li Qingran, you’re not thinking about applying to F University, are you?"
In the youth’s dark eyes, there was seriousness.
Qingran removed Xie Ying’an’s hand and avoided his gaze, for the first time in her life she lied to him: "I don’t know, I haven’t decided yet."
Xie Ying’an didn’t let any of her subtle changes in expression slip by. After a moment, he slowly said, "When you’ve decided, remember to tell me."
Qingran kept her head down and continued to read her book, not responding at all.
