Chapter 23: Summon Beast?

Lukas’s Darkmatter Vault Armor turned blue, and a layer of blue-colored liquid covered the armor.

Sizzle.

When the fireballs touched the blue-colored liquid, the fireballs sizzled, gave out some dark smoke, and fizzled out.

Lukas was genuinely surprised at the protection the Darkmatter Vault Armor provided against elemental attacks.

Splatter.

His knife stabbed into the neck of the Fire Deer, and with a quick tug across the Fire Deer’s neck, blood splattered out from the slit wound.

Walls of flame rose from the surroundings, as the Fire Deer tried to get Lukas away from it.

But Lukas didn’t flinch as his Darkmatter Vault Armor protected him from the walls of flame.

Struggling with its remaining energy, the Fire Deer tried to get away from Lukas.

However, it was to no avail as Lukas didn’t let go.

The Fire Deer was held firmly to where it was standing as Lukas, with his shadow, didn’t let go and still held onto the shadow of the Fire Deer’s legs.

Lukas flipped and pointed his knife upwards, walked up to the Fire Deer, and stabbed the knife up into the Fire Deer’s head.

The pain from the knife wound made the Fire Deer thrash around, spraying blood all over Lukas.

Lukas twisted the knife and then pushed on the bottom of the knife handle.

Crack.

The blade of the knife sliced through the bone of the Fire Deer and thrust out from the middle of the Fire Deer’s forehead.

A familiar sound erupted in his mind.

Lukas wiped his face and flicked his hands, trying to get the blood off his hands.

The blood didn’t stick to the Darkmatter Vault Armor and most of it had dripped onto the ground.

Seems like there’s a special coating on the Darkmatter Vault Armor, Lukas thought.

He stood and rested for a moment while recollecting what had happened.

The Fire Deer was certainly much more powerful than a domesticated one.

If he had encountered one that wasn’t domesticated, he would’ve been killed in the Abattoir, even with his SSS Level Physique ability.

But now he was at Level 3 and had gained more Slaughter Points to become stronger.

He pulled out his knife from the Fire Deer’s head and got to work taking out the demonic beast core.

After he was done, Lukas looked at his watch and it was already noon.

He had better kill more demonic beasts for more Slaughter Points and demonic beast cores before sunset.

It might be risky for him to spend the night out here.

"These low-tiered demonic beasts aren’t really suitable to become my summon beasts though," Lukas sighed and said to himself.

They just weren’t powerful enough for Lukas to consider.

He would have to keep going until he encountered a demonic beast that was suitable.

Lukas kept the demonic beast core in the chest plate of the Darkmatter Vault Armor, and he took out an energy bar and a bottle of water.

He munched on the energy bar and drank some water as he moved deeper into the woods.

It was relatively uneventful for the next hour as he roamed in the woods.

The demonic beasts seemed to have scattered away and gone somewhere else.

Maybe he was too powerful for the demonic beasts, and they feared him? Lukas joked to himself and shook his head.

It would make his trip to gain Slaughter Points and demonic beast cores difficult if it was true.

His patience started to wear thin as he still didn’t encounter any demonic beasts for another hour.

Lukas then decided to go to a river nearby to try his luck.

He could also wash the remaining blood stains off his face at the river as he didn’t want to waste his drinking water on this.

Growl.

As he got nearer to the river, he heard some growling noise.

Lukas crouched behind the bushes and slowly approached the growling noise.

He peeped out from behind the bushes and saw that there were two Ice Wolves, growling at what looked like a small demonic beast.

The small demonic beast looked like a small dragon, with its dark body and scales on its body.

Most notable was its huge mouth with huge fangs going all the way from one side of its head to the other.

Icicles appeared in the air as the Ice Wolves got ready to attack the small demonic beast.

Whoosh.

The icicles shot at the small demonic beast.

Miraculously, when the icicles got near the small demonic beast, they disappeared.

Burp.

The small demonic beast gave out a burp and grinned at the Ice Wolves.

The Ice Wolves glanced at each other, and they unleashed a volley of icicles at the small demonic beast.

The same thing happened again.

The icicles disappeared as they hit the small demonic beast.

Burp.

The small demonic beast burped and took a step forward towards the Ice Wolves.

After their icicle attacks failed, the Ice Wolves changed tactics, and they separated themselves.

Both of the Ice Wolves ran to the left and right sides of the small demonic beast and then suddenly lunged at the small demonic beast.

Boom.

Icicles rose from the ground, where the small demonic beast was, and shot at the Ice Wolves.

The Ice Wolves, being airborne, couldn’t do much as the icicles plunged into their abdomens from below.

They gave out a whimper as they dropped to the ground.

Blood slowly filled the ground where they were lying.

Lukas saw what happened and he knew he had to have that small demonic beast as his summon beast.

To do so he had to be able to get close enough to the small demonic beast and use his SSS Level Summoner ability to subdue it.

He waited for the right moment as he saw the small demonic beast get closer to one of the Ice Wolves.

It opened its huge mouth and took a bite at the Ice Wolf’s body.

Lukas quickly lunged at it from behind.
